Trey Hendrickson CIN DE
Bengals' Trey Hendrickson: Cincinnati not interested in trade
3h agoThe Bengals aren't interested in trading Hendrickson, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.
Per ESPN's Ben Baby, the defensive end requested a trade Wednesday, with Hendrickson's reported motivation being that he's seeking a long-term committed from the Bengals. At present, the 29-year-old -- who finished the 2023 regular season with 17.5 sacks -- is signed with Cincinnati through 2025. At this stage, the team doesn't appear inclined to deal the star pass rusher, a stance that also applies to wideout Tee Higgins, who also requested a trade earlier this offseason.

Jamin Davis WAS LB
Commanders' Jamin Davis: Not getting Year 5 option
8h agoThe Commanders are declining the fifth-year option on Davis' (shoulder) rookie contract, Ben Standig of The Athletic reports.
Washington took Davis with the 19th pick in the 2021 Draft, and while he's started 36 of 45 games through three seasons, his elite athleticism (4.47 40, 42-inch vertical) hasn't translated to elite performance. The 25-year-old likely will be a starter again in 2024 under new coach Dan Quinn, but it won't come as any surprise if this ends up being Davis' final year in Washington. He had season-ending shoulder surgery in December, potentially impacting his participation in spring practices.

Ezekiel Elliott NE RB
Ezekiel Elliott: Meeting with Dallas
1d agoElliott's agent will meet with the Cowboys in Dallas on Wednesday, Josina Anderson of CBS Sports reports.
The two sides have been connected throughout the offseason, as Jeremy Fowler of ESPN.com reported last month that Elliott and the Cowboys had mutual interest in a reunion. The Cowboys lost Tony Pollard to the Titans in free agency and only added end-of-roster types Royce Freeman and Snoop Conner to a running back room that includes Rico Dowdle, Deuce Vaughn and Malik Davis. Elliott played in all 17 games for the Patriots last season, carrying 184 times for 642 yards and three touchdowns while adding a 51-313-2 receiving line on 65 targets.

Trey Hendrickson CIN DE
Bengals' Trey Hendrickson: Seeking trade
1d agoHendrickson recently requested to be traded from Cincinnati, a league source tells Adam Schefter of ESPN.
Per Schefter, Hendrickson -- who is under contract for $15 million in 2024 and is on the books through 2025 -- is looking for more long-term security than the Bengals have been willing to offer to this point. The 29-year-old is coming of a 2023 campaign in which he recorded 43 tackles and made a major impact as a pass rusher by racking up a career-high 17.5 sacks over 17 games.
-
Micah Parsons DAL LB
Cowboys' Micah Parsons: Contract option picked up
1d agoThe Cowboys exercised the fifth-year team option on Parsons' rookie contract Wednesday, Michael Gehlken of The Dallas Morning News reports.
Per Gehlken, the star edge rusher will earn $21.32 million in 2025, but that salary may only serve as a placeholder before Parsons and the Cowboys are able to work out what's expected to be a lavish long-term deal. The 24-year-old is coming off another productive effort with the Cowboys in 2023, as he racked up 64 tackles and a career-high 14 sacks in 17 regular-season outings.

James Hurst NO OG
James Hurst: Announces retirement
1d agoHurst announced his retirement from the NFL after 10 seasons on Wednesday, Katherine Teller of ESPN.com reports.
Hurst started 51 games between guard and tackle for the Saints since joining the team as a free agent after the 2020 season. Prior to his stint with the Saints, Hurst began his career with the Ravens in 2014 after going undrafted out of North Carolina. His retirement comes just one day prior to the start of the 2024 NFL Draft and leaves the Saints with a glaring need at left guard, though the team did reportedly have advanced warning of Hurst's decision.

Bryce Elder ATL SP
Braves' Bryce Elder: Nabs another start Sunday
8m agoElder is slated to start Sunday's game against the Guardians in Atlanta.
Elder staged a successful 2024 MLB debut Monday, holding the Marlins scoreless over 6.2 innings while striking out four and allowing nine baserunners in a winning effort. He joined the Atlanta rotation as a replacement for Darius Vines and should have some staying power with the big club due to Spencer Strider (elbow) being out for the season. Elder compiled a 3.81 ERA, 1.28 WHIP and 128:63 K:BB across 174.2 innings with Atlanta in 2023.

J.P. France HOU SP
Astros' J.P. France: Being optioned
22m agoThe Astros are optioning France to Triple-A Sugar Land ahead of their trip to Mexico City on Saturday, Chandler Rome of The Athletic reports.
France is being optioned to clear a spot for Framber Valdez, who will start Sunday. In France's last outing Tuesday, he took the loss, allowed five runs on five hits and four walks over five innings against the Cubs. The 29-year-old has now given up multiple home runs in consecutive starts. The move prompts questions about how the Astros rotation lines up going forward.

Will Brennan CLE RF
Guardians' Will Brennan: Cranks third homer
1h agoBrennan went 2-for-4 with a double and a solo home run in Thursday's 6-4 win over the Red Sox.
Brennan opened the scoring with a solo shot off Chase Anderson in the second inning, his third homer of the year. Brennan's started to swing the bat well recently -- he's now 6-for-13 with five extra-base hits (including two homers) in his last four games. The left-handed Brennan has gotten the majority of starts in right field this season with Ramon Laureano occupying the short side of the platoon. He's now slashing .250/.310/.453 through 71 plate appearances with 11 runs scored, 10 RBI and two stolen bases.
-
Emmanuel Clase CLE RP
Guardians' Emmanuel Clase: Locks down eighth save
2h agoClase earned the save Thursday against the Red Sox, striking out one in a perfect ninth inning.
It's the fifth straight scoreless outing from Clase -- he's allowed just one hit while striking out eight in his last five innings. Overall, the right-hander is 8-for-10 in save chances this year with a stellar 0.69 ERA, 0.85 WHIP and 14:1 K:BB over 13 innings.
-
Triston McKenzie CLE SP
Guardians' Triston McKenzie: Goes four innings vs. Red Sox
2h agoMcKenzie did not factor into the decision Thursday against Boston, allowing two runs on six hits and two walks over four innings. He struck out seven.
McKenzie had to deal with traffic throughout Thursday's outing, though he was ultimately able to mitigate the damage thanks to a season-high seven strikeouts. He'd fail to qualify for a win, however, only making it through four innings after throwing 75 pitches, as Cleveland continues to monitor the 26-year-old's workload after he made just four starts in an injury-plagued 2023 campaign. Overall, McKenzie is 2-2 with a 4.91 ERA, 1.68 WHIP and 18:17 K:BB through four starts (22 innings) this season. He's currently lined up for a road matchup with the Astros in his next start Wednesday.
-
Chase Anderson BOS RP
Red Sox's Chase Anderson: Struggles in first start
2h agoAnderson (0-1) took the loss Thursday against the Guardians, allowing five runs on three hits and three walks over 1.2 innings. He didn't record a strikeout.
After working his way out of trouble in the first inning, Anderson allowed a solo home run to Will Brennan in the second before Jose Ramirez launched a grand slam with two outs in the frame. The 36-year-old Anderson opened the year in Boston's bullpen, though he was thrust back into the rotation with injuries to Brayan Bello (lat), Nick Pivetta (elbow) and Garrett Whitlock (oblique). While Thursday's outing certainly wasn't encouraging, the Red Sox may need Anderson to make at least one more start until other starters are healthy. He's currently slated for a home matchup Wednesday against the Giants.

Daniel Gafford DAL C
Mavericks' Daniel Gafford: Listed questionable for Friday
15m agoGafford (back) is questionable for Friday's game against the Clippers, Mike Curtis of The Detroit News reports.
The questionable tag on Gafford is not surprising, as the big man missed Thursday's practice due to his lower back problem. If he can't go Friday, then Dereck Lively and Maxi Kleber are candidates to receive increased playing time.
-
Kawhi Leonard LAC SF
Clippers' Kawhi Leonard: Questionable to play Friday
16m agoLeonard is questionable for Game 3 against the Mavericks on Friday due to right knee inflammation, Mike Curtis of The Detroit News reports.
Leonard posted 15 points and seven rebounds in his return to action in Game 2, and while he's included in the injury report ahead of Friday's decisive contest, he did log 35 minutes in Game 2, so he should be in line to handle his regular workload in a pivotal matchup at home.
-
Jonathan Isaac ORL PF
Magic's Jonathan Isaac: Won't start Game 3
20m agoIsaac is not in the starting lineup to face the Cavaliers on Thursday, Josh Robbins of The Athletic reports.
Isaac started the first two games of the series, where he averaged 6.5 points and 4.5 rebounds across 24.5 minutes per contest, but he'll head back to the bench here. Wendell Carter will get the nod in the frontcourt alongside Paolo Banchero and Franz Wagner.
-
Wendell Carter Jr. ORL C
Magic's Wendell Carter: Starting in Game 3
21m agoCarter is in the starting lineup to face the Cavaliers on Thursday, Josh Robbins of The Athletic reports.
Carter was the starting center for the majority of the regular season, and he will slot back into that role as the Magic attempt to shake things up ahead of a pivotal Game 3 at home. Carter has averaged 10.5 points, 7.2 rebounds and 1.8 assists per game in a starting role this season.
-
De'Anthony Melton PHI SG
76ers' De'Anthony Melton: Available to play Thursday
29m agoMelton (back) is available for Thursday's game against the Knicks, Noah Levick of NBC Sports Philadelphia reports.
Melton was tabbed a game-time decision for this contest, but in the end, he'll be available to see minutes off the bench. He didn't see action in any of the first two games of the series and has played just two games since the beginning of March, so he's not expected to have a heavy workload across the board.
-
Mitchell Robinson NY C
Knicks' Mitchell Robinson: Will play Thursday
42m agoRobinson (ankle) will be available for Thursday's game against the 76ers, head coach Tim Thibodeau told Ky Carlin of USA Today.
Robinson played 30 minutes in the series opener, and while he logged only 18 in Game 2, the big man should see decent minutes Thursday after going through the team's shootaround with no issues. He should continue playing off the bench while Isaiah Hartenstein remains in the first unit.
-
Haydn Fleury TB D
Lightning's Haydn Fleury: Out Thursday
17m agoFleury (undisclosed) won't return for Game 3 on Thursday, Chris Krenn of the Lightning's official site reports.
Fleury hasn't been in the lineup since April 6 because of the injury. He has a goal and five points in 24 contests this season. Fleury might be deployed on the third pairing once he's recovered, but it's also possible Tampa Bay would make him a healthy scratch.
-
Andrei Vasilevskiy TB G
Lightning's Andrei Vasilevskiy: In goal for Game 3
18m agoVasilevskiy will guard the home goal versus the Panthers on Thursday in Game 3, Chris Krenn of the Lightning's official site reports.
Vasilevskiy has lost four games in a row, though the Lightning haven't scored more than twice in any of those contests. The 29-year-old will look for more goal support on home ice in Thursday's contest, as a loss would put Tampa Bay down 3-0 in the series.
-
Frederik Andersen CAR G
Hurricanes' Frederik Andersen: Set to start Thursday
1h agoAndersen is expected to start on the road against the Islanders in Game 3 on Thursday, per Andrew Gross of Newsday.
Andersen won the first two outings of the first-round series while stopping 42 of 46 shots (.913 save percentage). He was fantastic in the regular season, posting a 13-2-0 record, 1.84 GAA and .932 save percentage in 16 appearances. The Islanders weren't particularly strong offensively during the 2023-24 campaign, finishing 22nd with 2.99 goals per contest, so Andersen should generally have the advantage over them.
-
Tyler Myers VAN D
Canucks' Tyler Myers: Available for Friday
3h agoMyers (illness) is expected to draw back into the lineup for Game 3 on Friday, per Adam Kimelman of NHL.com.
Myers had five goals, 29 points, 77 PIM, 110 hits and 136 blocks in 77 contests during the regular season. He missed Tuesday's 4-1 loss to Nashville because of the illness. Now that Myers is healthy, he'll probably serve on the second pairing while Noah Juulsen might be scratched.
-
Sergei Bobrovsky FLA G
Panthers' Sergei Bobrovsky: Starting in Game 3
6h agoBobrovsky will guard the road crease Thursday against Tampa Bay for Game 3 of the Eastern Conference Quarterfinals, per Alex Baumgartner.
Bobrovsky was solid in Game 2 on Tuesday, stopping 21 of 23 shots en route to a 3-2 win. The 35-year-old has played 72 career playoff games, recording a .905 save percentage and 31 total wins. The Lightning will undoubtedly be desperate to avoid falling in to a 3-0 series hole, so they'll likely come out firing Thursday.
-
Ryan Lomberg FLA LW
Panthers' Ryan Lomberg: Not playing Thursday
6h agoLomberg (illness) will not play in Thursday's Game 3 versus Tampa Bay, according to Colby Guy of Florida Hockey Now.
Lomberg accompanied the Panthers to Tampa Bay, but he will be replaced by Kyle Okposo on the fourth line for Game 3. Lomberg had five goals, two assists, 80 PIM and 179 hits in 75 games during the regular season.
