Austin Corbett CAR OG
Panthers' Austin Corbett: Returns to action
8h agoCorbett (knee) participated during Tuesday's voluntary workout, Mike Kaye of The Charlotte Observer reports.
Corbett closed out the 2023 campaign on IR after suffering a knee injury in a Week 11 loss to the Cowboys. His ability to take part in drills Tuesday suggests the Nevada product's knee is well healed as Carolina begins preparation for the upcoming season.
-
Amare Barno CAR LB
Panthers' Amare Barno: Still dealing with injury
8h agoBarno (knee) is not participating in voluntary workouts Tuesday, Joe Person of The Athletic reports.
Barno finished out the 2023 campaign on injured reserve after suffering a knee injury Week 16 against the Packers. Although it's not clear what specifically the injury was or how much longer it may affect him, it appears to still be a big enough issue that the Virginia Tech product is not taking part in drills. Luckily, for the Barno and the Panthers, training camp is still about three months away.
-
Isaiah Rodgers PHI CB
Eagles' Isaiah Rodgers: Restrictions lifted
9h agoRodgers was reinstated by the NFL on Tuesday after he was suspended for the 2023 season for violating the NFL's gambling policy, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.
Rodgers was originally suspended in June of 2023 after making bets on NFL games, which led to him being waived by the Colts. Despite the suspension, the UMass product inked a new deal with the Eagles two months later. With his suspension lifted, Rodgers will now be able to participate in all team activities for the first time since he signed with Philadelphia.

Patrick Surtain II DEN CB
Broncos' Patrick Surtain: Has fifth-year option picked up
9h agoThe Broncos picked up the fifth-year option on Surtain's rookie contract Tuesday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
The ninth overall pick in the 2021 Draft, Surtain so far has met expectations in his three-year career, earning back-to-back Pro Bowl appearances the last two seasons and even first-team All-Pro honors in his second campaign. Overall, he has seven interceptions among 36 pass defenses in 50 regular-season contests while averaging 63.6 tackles per 17 games played, making him a respectable option in IDP formats. With Tuesday's transaction, Surtain now is locked in in Denver through the 2025 season.
-
Shaq Green-Thompson CAR OLB
Panthers' Shaq Thompson: Back on field
9h agoThompson (lower leg) is participating during voluntary workouts Tuesday, Mike Kaye of The Charlotte Observer reports.
Thompson fractured his fibula Week 2 against the Saints, which sidelined the veteran linebacker for the remainder of the 2023 campaign. His ability to take part in drills Tuesday would suggest the 30-year-old has moved past the injury and is fully healthy as the Panthers begin early preparation for the upcoming season.
-
D.J. Wonnum CAR LB
Panthers' D.J. Wonnum: Still sidelined
9h agoWonnum (quadriceps) is missing voluntary workouts Tuesday, Joe Person of The Athletic reports.
Wonnum is still on the mend after surgery to repair his quadriceps, which he injured during Week 16 of last season. The South Carolina product inked a deal with the Panthers in March, so although it seems the franchise is not worried about his injury, it's not clear yet when he'll be ready to participate in the team's offseason programs.

Logan Gilbert SEA SP
Mariners' Logan Gilbert: Goes 6.2 scoreless
2m agoGilbert (2-0) picked up the win Tuesday against Texas, allowing two hits and four walks across 6.2 scoreless innings. He struck out six.
Gilbert surpassed six innings pitched for the fourth time in five starts this season, notching his first scoreless outing of the campaign. He battled issues with command and walked a pair of batters in the first but otherwise kept himself out of danger. He was removed from the contest with runners on first and third but was saved by Ryne Stanek, who forced Leody Taveras into an inning-ending groundout. Gilbert has posted four quality starts this season and boasts the most innings pitched (33.2) of anybody with fewer than six starts.

Santiago Espinal CIN 2B
Reds' Santiago Espinal: Three hits, homer in win
13m agoEspinal went 3-for-4 with a home run and two total RBI in Tuesday's 8-1 victory over the Phillies.
After picking up a pair of base hits earlier in the game, Espinal delivered the final blow in Cincinnati's 8-1 victory, smacking a solo home run off Ricardo Pinto in the eighth inning, his first of the season. It's just the second multi-hit game of the year for the 29-year-old Espinal -- he'd been stuck in a 1-for-19 slump over his previous seven contests. Overall, he's slashing .178/.264/.267 with seven RBI, three runs scored and three stolen bases across 17 games. While Espinal's performance Tuesday was encouraging, he'll likely retreat to a bench role when Jonathan India (illness) is ready to return.
-
Lourdes Gurriel ARI LF
Diamondbacks' Lourdes Gurriel: Scores thrice
21m agoGurriel went 3-for-5 with three runs scored and a run batted in during Tuesday's 14-1 win over the Cardinals.
Gurriel took part in the Diamondback's offensive bonanza Tuesday, collecting his third three-hit game of 2024 and scoring each time he reached base. The contest continued Gurriel's hot streak at the plate, batting 10-for-24 (.416) with four runs scored and two RBI over his last five games.
-
Pavin Smith ARI RF
Diamondbacks' Pavin Smith: Hits grand slam in six RBI day
24m agoSmith went 2-for-5 with a grand slam, a double, two additional RBI and an additional run scored during Tuesday's 14-1 win over St. Louis.
After opening the season in Triple-A, Smith failed to log a hit in his first three games with the D-Backs. He made up for the slow start Tuesday, tagging reliever Zack Thompson for a two-RBI double in the fifth and a grand slam in the sixth. Smith's six runs batted in marked a career high, topping his previous best of four RBI.
-
Logan Allen ARI RP
Diamondbacks' Logan Allen: Notches first big-league save
30m agoAllen picked up the save Tuesday against St. Louis, allowing one hit and one walk with two strikeouts over three scoreless innings.
The Diamondbacks only needed to use two arms during Tuesday's 14-1 rout, with Allen taking over for starter Tommy Henry in the seventh and closing out the game. The save was Allen's first of his five-year MLB career (34 appearances) and the outing marked his second appearance with the D-Backs this season.
-
Tommy Henry ARI SP
Diamondbacks' Tommy Henry: Dazzles in win
33m agoHenry (1-1) earned the win Tuesday against St. Louis, allowing one run on five hits and a walk over six innings. He struck out six.
Henry was optioned to Triple-A Reno on April 17 after logging a 6.87 ERA in four starts with the Diamondbacks. However, with Kyle Nelson (shoulder) and Merill Kelly (shoulder) being placed on the IL, Henry rejoined the big league club for Tuesday's start. He tied his season high in strikeouts and didn't allow multiple runs for the first time all year en route to a quality start. His impressive outing likely bought him another go-around in Arizona's rotation, with a tentative matchup against the Dodgers set for Monday.
-
Tim Hardaway Jr. DAL SG
Mavericks' Tim Hardaway: Out for remainder of game
31m agoHardaway won't return to Tuesday's Game 2 versus the Clippers due to a right ankle sprain. He will the contest with zero points (0-1 FG, 0-1 3Pt), one rebound, and one assist and one steal in six minutes.
Hardaway hardly saw any action Tuesday before suffering a right ankle sprain that will cause him to miss the remainder of the contest. Dante Exum and Josh Green are candidates to receive increased playing time in his absence. Hardaway's availability for Game 3 on Friday is uncertain.
-
Karl-Anthony Towns MIN PF
Timberwolves' Karl-Anthony Towns: Limited in Game victory
41m agoTowns finished Tuesday's 105-93 win over the Suns in Game 2 of the Western Conference Quarterfinals with 12 points (3-7 FG, 1-4 3Pt, 5-5 FT), eight rebounds, one assist and one steal over 24 minutes.
Towns played just 24 minutes in the victory, falling two rebounds short of a double-double. The coaching staff continues to monitor minutes as he returns from a knee injury. He also picked up four fouls in quick time, perhaps impacting his time on the floor. They will now get three nights off before returning to the court for Game 3. The extended rest will almost certainly provide Towns with a chance to continue his return-to-action plan.
-
Mike Conley MIN PG
Timberwolves' Mike Conley: Vintage performance Tuesday
44m agoConley ended Tuesday's 105-93 win over the Suns in Game 2 of the Western Conference Quarterfinals with 18 points (7-13 FG, 3-6 3Pt, 1-1 FT), four rebounds, four assists and two steals across 32 minutes.
Conley assumed more responsibility on the offensive end of the floor, tallying 18 points in 32 minutes. Despite not always putting up noteworthy production, Conley is a vital piece for the Timberwolves. He provides them with leadership both on and off the court, as well as a cool head when the going gets tough. Minnesota will look to take a stranglehold on the series when they line up for Game 3 Friday.
-
Jaden McDaniels MIN SF
Timberwolves' Jaden McDaniels: Erupts for team-high 25 points
45m agoMcDaniels ended Tuesday's 105-93 win over the Suns in Game 2 of the Western Conference Quarterfinals with 25 points (10-17 FG, 2-4 3Pt, 3-4 FT), eight rebounds, three assists and one steal across 41 minutes.
McDaniels shone in the victory, leading all scorers with 25 points. Known for his defensive abilities, it was on the offensive end that he did his damage. He was part of a balanced effort by the Timberwolves, easily accounting for the Suns to establish a 2-0 series lead.
-
Bol Bol PHO C
Suns' Bol Bol: Logs two minutes in Game 2 loss
1h agoBol finished with two rebounds in two minutes during Tuesday's 105-93 loss to Minnesota in Game 2 of the Western Conference Quarterfinals.
Bol managed just two minutes during garbage time, continuing his disappointing season. Despite his reputation in many fantasy circles, Bol is simply not that good. At this point, there is no reason to think he will ever be anything more than a per-minute specialist with very little upside when it comes to sustainable playing time.
-
Bradley Beal PHO SG
Suns' Bradley Beal: Passive performance Tuesday
1h agoBeal posted 14 points (6-17 FG, 2-4 3Pt), four rebounds and six assists across 42 minutes during Tuesday's 105-93 loss to the Timberwolves in Game 2 of the Western Conference Quarterfinals.
Beal was relatively quiet in the loss, much like his teammates. Despite keeping it close, the Suns were simply overwhelmed by the Timberwolves, both inside and outside the paint. Now trailing 2-0 in the series, Phoenix will look to get back on track Friday when they host Game 3.
-
Nikita Alexandrov STL C
Blues' Nikita Alexandrov: Plays sparingly during 2023-24
2h agoAlexandrov recorded two assists across 23 games during the 2023-24 season.
The Blues kept Alexandrov with the big club all season because they feared he would be claimed off waivers if they sent him to the AHL. The 2019 second-round pick barely played as a result, and he averaged just 8:32 of ice time when he was in the lineup. This isn't a great option for the youngster's development, but barring a trade, he'll likely stick with the Blues next season because he's a restricted free agent this summer.
-
Alexei Toropchenko STL RW
Blues' Alexei Toropchenko: Tallies 14 goals in bottom-six role
2h agoToropchenko recorded 14 goals and seven assists across 82 games during the 2023-24 season.
Toropchenko played almost exclusively in the bottom six, but he was briefly promoted to the top six when the Blues' playoff hopes were in desperation mode. The 6-foot-6 forward is known for his defensive presence and physicality -- he dished out 165 hits -- but the scoring touch adds to his versatility. The 24-year-old is heading into the final year of his contract next season.
-
Robin Salo NYI D
Islanders' Robin Salo: Headlines playoff call-ups
2h agoSalo, Julien Gauthier, Brian Pinho, Dennis Cholowski and Karson Kuhlman were recalled from AHL Bridgeport on Tuesday, per CapFriendly.
All five players will serve as extra depth options for the Islanders during the postseason. Salo produced 24 points in 68 appearances at the AHL level this season, but he did not see any NHL action.
-
Philip Broberg EDM D
Oilers' Philip Broberg: In NHL again
3h agoBroberg was recalled from AHL Bakersfield on Tuesday, per CapFriendly.
It appears the Oilers will be juggling Broberg back and forth between leagues for the foreseeable future. It's unclear if he'll be in consideration for any NHL action during the playoffs, barring an injury to one of the team's blueliners.
-
Kasperi Kapanen STL RW
Blues' Kasperi Kapanen: Generates 22 points with Blues
3h agoKapanen posted six goals and 16 assists across 73 games during the 2023-24 campaign.
The Blues claimed Kapanen off waivers during the 2022-23 season. He immediately showed promise with eight goals and 14 points through the final 23 games of the season, but his game never took off the following season. The 27-year-old will be a free agent this summer, and it's unclear if he's in the plans moving forward for the rebuilding Blues.
-
Sam Bennett FLA C
Panthers' Sam Bennett: Sustains injury Tuesday
3h agoBennett (upper body) won't return to Tuesday's Game 2 versus the Lightning.
Bennett reportedly took a shot to the hand, David Dwork of The Hockey News reports. Bennett should be considered day-to-day until the Panthers provide another update. He scored a goal and added a power-play assist in Game 2 prior to his exit.
