Austin Corbett CAR OG
Panthers' Austin Corbett: Returns to action
7h agoCorbett (knee) participated during Tuesday's voluntary workout, Mike Kaye of The Charlotte Observer reports.
Corbett closed out the 2023 campaign on IR after suffering a knee injury in a Week 11 loss to the Cowboys. His ability to take part in drills Tuesday suggests the Nevada product's knee is well healed as Carolina begins preparation for the upcoming season.
-
Amare Barno CAR LB
Panthers' Amare Barno: Still dealing with injury
7h agoBarno (knee) is not participating in voluntary workouts Tuesday, Joe Person of The Athletic reports.
Barno finished out the 2023 campaign on injured reserve after suffering a knee injury Week 16 against the Packers. Although it's not clear what specifically the injury was or how much longer it may affect him, it appears to still be a big enough issue that the Virginia Tech product is not taking part in drills. Luckily, for the Barno and the Panthers, training camp is still about three months away.
-
Isaiah Rodgers PHI CB
Eagles' Isaiah Rodgers: Restrictions lifted
7h agoRodgers was reinstated by the NFL on Tuesday after he was suspended for the 2023 season for violating the NFL's gambling policy, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.
Rodgers was originally suspended in June of 2023 after making bets on NFL games, which led to him being waived by the Colts. Despite the suspension, the UMass product inked a new deal with the Eagles two months later. With his suspension lifted, Rodgers will now be able to participate in all team activities for the first time since he signed with Philadelphia.

Patrick Surtain II DEN CB
Broncos' Patrick Surtain: Has fifth-year option picked up
7h agoThe Broncos picked up the fifth-year option on Surtain's rookie contract Tuesday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
The ninth overall pick in the 2021 Draft, Surtain so far has met expectations in his three-year career, earning back-to-back Pro Bowl appearances the last two seasons and even first-team All-Pro honors in his second campaign. Overall, he has seven interceptions among 36 pass defenses in 50 regular-season contests while averaging 63.6 tackles per 17 games played, making him a respectable option in IDP formats. With Tuesday's transaction, Surtain now is locked in in Denver through the 2025 season.
-
Shaq Green-Thompson CAR OLB
Panthers' Shaq Thompson: Back on field
7h agoThompson (lower leg) is participating during voluntary workouts Tuesday, Mike Kaye of The Charlotte Observer reports.
Thompson fractured his fibula Week 2 against the Saints, which sidelined the veteran linebacker for the remainder of the 2023 campaign. His ability to take part in drills Tuesday would suggest the 30-year-old has moved past the injury and is fully healthy as the Panthers begin early preparation for the upcoming season.
-
D.J. Wonnum CAR LB
Panthers' D.J. Wonnum: Still sidelined
7h agoWonnum (quadriceps) is missing voluntary workouts Tuesday, Joe Person of The Athletic reports.
Wonnum is still on the mend after surgery to repair his quadriceps, which he injured during Week 16 of last season. The South Carolina product inked a deal with the Panthers in March, so although it seems the franchise is not worried about his injury, it's not clear yet when he'll be ready to participate in the team's offseason programs.

Bailey Falter PIT SP
Pirates' Bailey Falter: Stellar in second win
3m agoFalter (2-1) earned the win Tuesday against the Brewers, allowing one run on three hits and two walks while striking out eight over seven innings.
Falter was dominant Tuesday, matching a career high with eight strikeouts while holding the Brewers scoreless through seven innings. He'd allow a home run to Gary Sanchez to lead off the eighth, but the Pirates would hang on for the 2-1 victory. After allowing six runs in his first start this year, Falter's now held opponents to two runs or fewer in each of his subsequent four outings. The left-hander lowered his ERA to 3.33 with a 0.89 WHIP and 18:7 K:BB across 27 innings this season. Falter's tentatively slated to face the Giants on the road Sunday in his next start.

Cody Bellinger CHC CF
Cubs' Cody Bellinger: X-rays negative
7m agoX-rays on Bellinger's ribs came back negative Tuesday, Jesse Rogers of ESPN.com reports.
Manager Craig Counsell said Bellinger is still dealing with quite a bit of soreness, so the Cubs will wait to see how he feels Wednesday before determining any sort of return timeline. Alexander Canario entered Tuesday's game as Bellinger's replacement and could see extra reps in the outfield should the former NL MVP have to miss time.
-
Andrew Abbott CIN SP
Reds' Andrew Abbott: Fails to qualify for win
17m agoAbbott did not factor into the decision Tuesday, allowing one run on two hits and four walks over 4.1 innings. He struck out three.
After giving up a run in the opening frame, Abbott held the Phillies off the board through his next three innings, allowing just one baserunner. However, he lost the strike zone in the fifth, walking the first three batters to load the bases and ultimately forcing Abbott out of the game before he could qualify for the win. Still, it's been a nice start to the year for 24-year-old lefthander -- Abbott sports a 2.60 ERA with a 1.12 WHIP and 20:11 K:BB through his first five starts (27.2 innings). He's currently lined up to face the Rangers on the road Sunday in his next start.
-
Kevin Kiermaier TOR CF
Blue Jays' Kevin Kiermaier: Exits with hip discomfort
30m agoKiermaier was removed from Tuesday's game against the Royals due to left hip flexor discomfort, Ben Nicholson-Smith of Sportsnet.ca reports.
Kiermaier went 0-for-2 during Tuesday's loss before being replaced on defense heading into the bottom of the sixth inning. The Blue Jays are officially considering him day-to-day, so his injury doesn't appear to be too serious, but it's possible the team holds him out of the lineup for a game or two to ensure he gets back to 100 percent.
-
Cristopher Sanchez PHI SP
Phillies' Cristopher Sanchez: Falls to Cincinnati
34m agoSanchez (1-3) took the loss Tuesday against the Reds, allowing five runs (one earned) on four hits and three walks over three innings. He struck out three.
Sanchez struggled with command Tuesday but the Phillies defense certainly didn't do him any favors, committing three errors behind the left-hander in the eventual 8-1 loss. It's a disappointing effort from Sanchez after he was dominant in his last outing versus Colorado, allowing one run while striking out 10 in a win. He now sports a 2.96 ERA with a 1.48 WHIP and 28:11 K:BB through five outings (24.1 innings) this season. Sanchez is currently slated for a road matchup with the Angles on Monday in his next start.

Lane Thomas WAS RF
Nationals' Lane Thomas: Getting MRI on knee
37m agoThomas will receive an MRI on his left knee Wednesday, Mark Zuckerman of MASNSports.comreports.
Thomas injured his knee while swiping a bag in the fifth inning of Tuesday's loss to the Dodgers. Once the results of his imaging come back, a better picture will emerge regarding the severity of his injury, as well as an estimate for how much time -- if any -- the 28-year-old will miss. Thomas is slashing .184/.250/.253 across 96 plate appearances this season.
-
Daniel Gafford DAL C
Mavericks' Daniel Gafford: Checks back into game
4m agoGafford (back) returned to Tuesday's Game 2 against the Clippers with 7:54 remaining in the second quarter.
Despite being deemed questionable to return due to a lower back injury, Gafford ultimately missed about a quarter of action Tuesday. The 24-year-old big man will look to make a bigger impact than he did in Game 1 when he tallied just three points and zero rebounds.
-
Grayson Allen PHO SG
Suns' Grayson Allen: Avoids serious injury
24m agoFrank Vogel said Tuesday that X-rays came back negative on Allen's right ankle, and he should be considered day-to-day, Duane Rankin of The Arizona Republic reports.
Allen has dealt with a right ankle injury through the first two games of the series against Minnesota and should be considered questionable for Game 3 on Friday. If Allen is unable to suit, Eric Gordon and Royce O'Neale will likely receive increased playing time.
-
Daniel Gafford DAL C
Mavericks' Daniel Gafford: Questionable to return Tuesday
28m agoGafford is questionable for the remainder of Tuesday's Game 2 against the Clippers due to a lower back injury.
Gafford recorded no stats in three minutes of action before exiting Tuesday's contest with 8:34 remaining in the first quarter due to a lower back injury. If Gafford is unable to return, Dereck Lively will likely serve as Dallas' primary center.
-
Grayson Allen PHO SG
Suns' Grayson Allen: Won't return Tuesday
1h agoAllen has been ruled out for the remainder of Tuesday's Game 2 against the Timberwolves due to a right ankle injury. He will end the contest with three points (1-2 FG, 1-2 3Pt), three rebounds and one steal in 17 minutes.
Allen will sit out the remainder of Game 2 after landing awkwardly on Timberwolves guard Mike Conley early in the third quarter. Allen has been held to just seven total points across the first two games of the series while dealing with an ankle injury. Allen's availability for Game 3 on Friday is uncertain.
-
Amir Coffey LAC SF
Clippers' Amir Coffey: Moves to bench
2h agoCoffey will move to the bench for Tuesday's Game 2 versus Dallas, Justin Russo of the 'Clip & Roll' podcast reports.
This is an expected move for the Clippers, as Kawhi Leonard has the green light to return from his knee issue. Coffey was held in check in Game 1 Sunday, scoring six points with three rebounds and one assist in 25 minutes.
-
Grayson Allen PHO SG
Suns' Grayson Allen: Tweaks ankle Tuesday
2h agoAllen left Tuesday's Game 2 against the Timberwolves with 9:17 remaining in the third quarter due to an apparent right ankle injury, Gerald Bourguet of GoPHNX.com reports.
Allen landed awkwardly on Timberwolves guard Mike Conley and appeared to re-aggravate the right ankle injury that he suffered in Game 1. If Allen is unable to return, Eric Gordon, Royce O'Neale and Josh Okogie are candidates to receive increased playing time.
-
Nikita Alexandrov STL C
Blues' Nikita Alexandrov: Plays sparingly during 2023-24
1h agoAlexandrov recorded two assists across 23 games during the 2023-24 season.
The Blues kept Alexandrov with the big club all season because they feared he would be claimed off waivers if they sent him to the AHL. The 2019 second-round pick barely played as a result, and he averaged just 8:32 of ice time when he was in the lineup. This isn't a great option for the youngster's development, but barring a trade, he'll likely stick with the Blues next season because he's a restricted free agent this summer.
-
Alexei Toropchenko STL RW
Blues' Alexei Toropchenko: Tallies 14 goals in bottom-six role
1h agoToropchenko recorded 14 goals and seven assists across 82 games during the 2023-24 season.
Toropchenko played almost exclusively in the bottom six, but he was briefly promoted to the top six when the Blues' playoff hopes were in desperation mode. The 6-foot-6 forward is known for his defensive presence and physicality -- he dished out 165 hits -- but the scoring touch adds to his versatility. The 24-year-old is heading into the final year of his contract next season.
-
Robin Salo NYI D
Islanders' Robin Salo: Headlines playoff call-ups
1h agoSalo, Julien Gauthier, Brian Pinho, Dennis Cholowski and Karson Kuhlman were recalled from AHL Bridgeport on Tuesday, per CapFriendly.
All five players will serve as extra depth options for the Islanders during the postseason. Salo produced 24 points in 68 appearances at the AHL level this season, but he did not see any NHL action.
-
Philip Broberg EDM D
Oilers' Philip Broberg: In NHL again
1h agoBroberg was recalled from AHL Bakersfield on Tuesday, per CapFriendly.
It appears the Oilers will be juggling Broberg back and forth between leagues for the foreseeable future. It's unclear if he'll be in consideration for any NHL action during the playoffs, barring an injury to one of the team's blueliners.
-
Kasperi Kapanen STL RW
Blues' Kasperi Kapanen: Generates 22 points with Blues
1h agoKapanen posted six goals and 16 assists across 73 games during the 2023-24 campaign.
The Blues claimed Kapanen off waivers during the 2022-23 season. He immediately showed promise with eight goals and 14 points through the final 23 games of the season, but his game never took off the following season. The 27-year-old will be a free agent this summer, and it's unclear if he's in the plans moving forward for the rebuilding Blues.
-
Sam Bennett FLA C
Panthers' Sam Bennett: Sustains injury Tuesday
1h agoBennett (upper body) won't return to Tuesday's Game 2 versus the Lightning.
Bennett reportedly took a shot to the hand, David Dwork of The Hockey News reports. Bennett should be considered day-to-day until the Panthers provide another update. He scored a goal and added a power-play assist in Game 2 prior to his exit.
