5h agoHarris' trainer said Friday the running back has dropped to around 235 pounds this offseason after playing at 242 during the 2023 season, and that he's increasingly motivated after the Steelers declined his fifth-year option, Kevin Patra of NFL.com reports.
Harris is heading into the final season of his rookie deal with Pittsburgh, so there's no doubt about his motivation to log a productive year and earn sizeable payday for 2025. Playing at a lower weight could help Harris' efficiency metrics, and there's also some reason to be optimistic that he now finds himself in a better scenario than 2023, when he set new career-high marks with eight rushing touchdowns and 4.1 YPC. Rookie first-round pick Troy Fautanu should represent an upgrade to the O-line, and while there are question marks surrounding Russell Wilson and Justin Fields, both have the potential to command a more effective offense than Kenny Pickett did. Harris is capable of handling 20-plus touches but also dependent on volume to produce, making the emergence of Jaylen Warren the biggest threat to his fantasy prospects.

5h agoTagovailoa has reportedly missed most of Miami's team activities this offseason while negotiations on a potential contract extension continue, Alain Poupart of SI.com reports.
Coach Mike McDaniel and GM Chris Grier have both vocally supported the idea of Tagovailoa remaining with the Dolphins long-term, and an extension being penned this offseason, but it sounds like until that's official, the team may not have the quarterback's full participation. That said, Tagovailoa was confirmedly a participant in part of Miami's offseason workouts back in April, with Poupart noting that the team released videos of him throwing on multiple different days. There are no signs that Tagovailoa would consider skipping June's mandatory minicamp, and he himself has downplayed concerns about contract negotiations. As things currently stand, Tagovailoa is set to play out the 2024 season under the fifth-year option on his rookie contract.

16h agoGreenlaw (Achilles) no longer requires a walking boot, Eric Branch of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.
Greenlaw made a public appearance at an event in San Jose and discussed his recovery from Achilles surgery. He has previously said he hopes to be ready for Week 1, and his ability to walk without a boot is a small step in that direction. Greenlaw's level of participation at the start of training camp will be more telling regarding his availability come the regular season.

Flowers suited up for all 17 games with the Falcons in 2023. Now he's signing with his fourth team in as many years. The Jaguars are thin at cornerback behind Tyson Campbell and Ronald Darby, so Flowers could push for a significant role in 2024.

With Jordan Poyer having been poached by Miami and Micah Hyde eyeing retirement, Buffalo is understandably scrambling to restock at safety ahead of next season. Delaney recorded 25 tackles (17 solo) and two interceptions with Tampa Bay last year.

21h agoCleveland waived Diesch (undisclosed) with a failed physical designation Thursday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.
Diesch signed with the Browns on Tuesday, but he's already done with the team after failing a physical. He'll now have to look for another opportunity to make an impression with a different team.

Trey Lipscomb WAS 3BNationals' Trey Lipscomb: Optioned to AAA
22m agoLipscomb was optioned to Triple-A Rochester on Friday.
Lipscomb will cede his big-league spot to Joey Gallo (shoulder), who was activated from the 10-day IL on Friday. Lipscomb has been the Nationals' everyday third baseman during the last few weeks and owned a .252/.331/.290 slash line with 10 stolen bases on the year. Nick Senzel and Ildemaro Vargas should see plenty of action at third base moving forward.

27m agoGallo (shoulder) was reinstated from the 10-day injured list Friday.
As expected, Gallo will return to the big-league roster after being placed on the 10-day IL on April 27 with a sprained AC joint in his left shoulder. In a corresponding move, Trey Lipscomb was optioned to Triple-A Rochester. Before the injury, Gallo was seeing most of his work in right field, and he should continue to play in right considering Lane Thomas (knee) is still sidelined.

28m agoAlmonte (shoulder) remains shut down but is hopeful of resuming a throwing program next week, Ryan Herrera of MLB.com reports.
Almonte landed on the 15-day injured list almost a week ago with a right shoulder strain and is currently limited to doing strengthening exercises. However, the hope is that it won't be a long absence for the reliever. Almonte boasts a 3.45 ERA and 1.09 WHIP with 20 strikeouts in 15.2 innings this season.

33m agoCubs manager Craig Counsell said Friday that Hoerner (hamstring) remains day-to-day and is still hopeful of avoiding the injured list, Ryan Herrera of MLB.com reports.
Hoerner is missing a fourth straight start Friday after still feeling something in his left hamstring Thursday, per Counsell. While the skipper expressed hope that an IL won't be needed, he conceded that a move will be on the table if the issue continues to linger. With Dansby Swanson (knee) also out, the Cubs have been going with Miles Mastrobuoni and Nick Madrigal as their middle infield duo.

With the A's rotation plagued by injuries, Muller was initially an option to start Friday's series opener. However, Oakland will hand the ball to Mitch Spence -- who's gone three or more innings six times this season -- to start the contest. Still, Muller could follow Spence and see multiple innings of work if needed.

It will be the first major-league start for Spence, who has posted a 4.26 ERA and 22:7 K:BB over 25.1 innings covering 11 relief appearances. The Rule 5 pick will be pitching on three days' rest after allowing two runs over two-thirds of an inning on Monday in Houston. Spence has gone three-plus frames in six of his appearances, which includes a season-long 4.2-inning outing on May 5 versus the Marlins. However, this could wind up being a piggyback situation, with Kyle Muller also available to go multiple innings.

15h agoEdwards notched 27 points (8-17 FG, 4-9 3Pt, 7-8 FT), four rebounds, four assists and three steals in 34 minutes during Thursday's 115-70 victory over Denver in Game 6 of the Western Conference Semifinals.
Edwards bounced back from an ugly outing in Game 5 and led Minnesota in scoring in this pivotal matchup, as he looked far more aggressive than during his previous appearance. Edwards deserves credit for his constant off-the-ball movement as well, as his movements on the perimeter, coupled with the return of Mike Conley from a one-game absence, made things very difficult for Denver on defense. This was Edwards' fourth game with at least 25 points in the series, and he's expected to operate as Minnesota's primary offensive weapon in Sunday's do-or-die Game 7 at Ball Arena.

15h agoMcDaniels notched 21 points (8-10 FG, 3-5 3Pt, 2-2 FT), four rebounds, one assist, two blocks and one steal over 30 minutes during Thursday's 115-70 victory over Denver in Game 6 of the Western Conference Semifinals.
McDaniels is not known for his scoring ability and often gets recognition for his defensive work. Still, he stood out when it mattered the most in this series and finished as Minnesota's second-highest scorer. McDaniels is not expected to hover around the 20-point mark regularly going forward, but this was an excellent showing in a game during which his team needed him to step up. In fact, this was McDaniels' second-best scoring output in the current playoff run, as he scored 25 points in the Game 2 win over the Suns in the first round.

15h agoTowns finished Thursday's 115-70 victory over Denver in Game 6 of the Western Conference Semifinals with 10 points (4-10 FG, 0-4 3Pt, 2-2 FT), 13 rebounds and five assists across 29 minutes.
Towns had a couple of clutch buckets in the early stages of the game, but for the most part, he took a backseat in the scoring column as Anthony Edwards and Jaden McDaniels carried Minnesota offensively in this win. The Timberwolves need Towns to be at his best if they want to have a shot at winning a complicated Game 7 on the road, and for that to happen, he'll need to be even more aggressive on the offensive end of the court, an area in which he hasn't been consistent throughout the series. Towns has reached the 20-point mark in four of the six games he's played in the semis, and the Timberwolves have gone 3-1 in those contests.

15h agoJokic contributed 22 points (9-19 FG, 0-4 3Pt, 4-4 FT), nine rebounds and two assists across 36 minutes during Thursday's 115-70 loss to the Timberwolves in Game 6 of the Western Conference Semifinals.
Jokic delivered one of the best performances of his playoff career in Game 5 of the series, but he was unable to repeat those numbers in this woeful loss despite a respectable stat line. Jokic shot under 50 percent from the field for the third time in the series, and the Nuggets have lost every time that has happened. While the entire Nuggets offense must perform better in a do-or-die Game 7 contest on Sunday, Jokic will be the one who sets the tone early on.

15h agoGordon recorded 12 points (4-7 FG, 2-4 3Pt, 2-2 FT), eight rebounds, four assists and three blocks in 28 minutes during Thursday's 115-70 loss to Minnesota in Game 6 of the Western Conference Semifinals.
The entire Nuggets offense struggled in this game, as shown by the fact the team shot 30.2 percent from the field and 19.4 percent from three-point range in this Game 6 loss. Despite the collective struggles, Gordon found a way to make an impact with his two-way play, and he was also one of just three Denver players who scored in double digits in this loss. Gordon has been arguably the second-best player for Denver in this series, and he'll aim to deliver another strong showing in Game 7 at home on Sunday.

Jamal Murray DEN PGNuggets' Jamal Murray: Shooting woes too much to overcome
15h agoMurray recorded 10 points (4-18 FG, 2-7 3Pt), two rebounds, five assists and one steal over 33 minutes during Thursday's 115-70 loss to Minnesota in Game 6 of the Western Conference Semifinals.
Murray had been the catalyst of the Nuggets offense during this series, but he struggled massively Thursday, though the entire team looked overmatched from start to finish. There's no doubt the offense runs through Nikola Jokic, but it's also not a secret that Denver tends to struggle heavily when Murray is not at his best, and that has been the case in each of the three losses the Nuggets have suffered in this series. Murray will aim to bounce back in Sunday's Game 7, as the Nuggets need him at his best to avoid a monumental upset and keep their hopes of a title defense alive.

Roope Hintz DAL LWStars' Roope Hintz: Still missing Friday
2h agoHintz (upper body) will remain unavailable for Game 6 versus Colorado on Friday, Corey Masisak of The Denver Post reports.
Hintz will be out of action for his second consecutive game due to his upper-body issue. Coach Peter DeBoer told reporters he was hopeful the 27-year-old center would be healthy in time for Game 7, if necessary. While Hintz has scored just one goal in his last seven outings, he has chipped in four helpers, including two with the man advantage. With Hintz out, Matt Duchene figures to continue anchoring the first line alongside Jason Robertson and Joe Pavelski.

2h agoTrocheck had a goal and an assist in Thursday's 5-3 win over Carolina in Game 6.
Trocheck was back to his usual form after a brief hiatus from the scoresheet in consecutive contests prior to Game 6. The second-line center deflected a shot from Artemi Panarin past Carolina's Frederik Andersen to give the Rangers life early in the second period after being down two goals. Trocheck would add a secondary assist on Chris Kreider's game-tying power-play marker in the third period. Trocheck also had three shots on net, four hits and a plus-1 rating in 23:14 of ice time. After setting a career high during the regular season with 77 points in 82 games, the 30-year-old center is up to six goals and eight assists in 10 contests this postseason.

2h agoPanarin provided two assists in Thursday's 5-3 win over Carolina in Game 6.
Panarin helped cut Carolina's lead to one in the second period when he assisted on Vincent Trocheck's goal at even strength. Panarin would add a power-play assist on Chris Kreider's game-tying goal shortly after the midway point of the final frame. Panarin also had four shots on goal with a plus-1 rating in 20:39 of ice time. The 32-year-old forward is up to four goals and seven assists in 10 contests with a minus-2 rating this postseason.

Yakov Trenin COL CAvalanche's Yakov Trenin: Won't play Friday
2h agoTrenin (upper body) will not be in the lineup for Game 6 versus Dallas on Friday. Coach Jared Bednar told reporters, "He won't be available tonight. He's on the shelf for tonight's game. Still classify him as day-to-day," per Kyle Fredrickson of The Denver Gazette.
Trenin has produced just one point in 10 postseason contests, so his absence from the lineup is unlikely to have a significant impact on fantasy players. Without Trenin in the lineup, the Avs will likely turn to Chris Wagner to fill a fourth-line center role, though Fredrik Olofsson could also be in the mix.

2h agoKreider scored a natural hat trick in Thursday's 5-3 win over Carolina in Game 6.
Kreider was stellar Thursday night, providing three consecutive goals in the final frame to help the Rangers advance to the Eastern Conference Finals. New York's captain jammed home a loose puck at the side of the net to put the Rangers within one in the third period. He then deflected a shot from Artemi Panarin past Carolina's Frederik Andersen to tie the game for New York. Kreider completed the comeback by netting the game-winning goal on a beautiful pass from Ryan Lindgren behind the net. Kreider finished the series against Carolina with seven points (five goals) in six outings despite failing to find the scoresheet in his previous two contests.

Dmitry Orlov CAR DHurricanes' Dmitry Orlov: Has bad turnover in loss
2h agoOrlov supplied a secondary assist in Thursday's 5-3 loss to the Rangers in Game 6.
Orlov got on the board by helping out on a Martin Necas first-period tally that opened the scoring. It was the fifth time in six games this series that Orlov registered at least one point. The Russian defenseman also had one shot on goal and six blocks with a minus-1 rating in 19:01 of ice time. Unfortunately for the 32-year-old, he had an egregious turnover in which he failed to clear the defensive zone -- it led directly to a New York goal shortly after Carolina garnered a 2-0 lead early in the second period. Orlov finished the postseason with two goals and four assists in 11 contests.
