Will Reichard 2005 KVikings' Will Reichard: Drafted by Minnesota
3m agoThe Vikings selected Reichard in the sixth round of the 2024 NFL Draft, 203rd overall.
Reichard is the NCAA's all-time leading points scorer (547). At Alabama, Reichard converted 274 of 275 extra points and had an 86 percent field goal success rate. Placekicking duties should be his in Minnesota.

4m agoThe Panthers selected Crumedy in the sixth round of the 2024 NFL Draft, 200th overall.
Crumedy might be a lowly sixth-round pick, but the Mississippi State product still looks like a good selection for Carolina. Crumedy was a five-year starter as a six-year player in college, and at 6-foot-4, 301 pounds he demonstrated burst and speed that should fit well on passing downs if nothing else (4.97-second 40-yard dash). Worse prospects have turned out to be viable starting defensive tackles in the NFL.

Patrick McMorris 2005 SDolphins' Patrick McMorris: Provides needed depth in Miami
9m agoThe Dolphins selected McMorris in the sixth round of the 2024 NFL Draft, 198th overall.
McMorris brings plenty of production to the Miami secondary, as he was an all-conference performer in the Mountain West with San Diego State for much of his collegiate career. He transferred to Cal for his final year of eligibility and immediately stepped in to lead the team in pass breakups. McMorris has the physicality to play safety in the pros, but he lacks explosiveness (sixth percentile broad jump, fifth percentile vertical jump) which limits his upside. The Dolphins had only three safeties on the roster entering the draft, so McMorris should have a chance to make the team with a decent performance in training camp.

Tyler Davis 2005 DLRams' Tyler Davis: Los Angeles grabs in sixth round
10m agoThe Rams selected Davis in the sixth round of the 2024 NFL Draft, 196th overall.
Davis was a five-year starter at Clemson, thus setting the Clemson record for the most career starts for a defender, so that's a very impressive detail despite Davis' modest draft stock. It's almost as if Davis played so long at Clemson that evaluators became bored, because even if he's just a rotational player at the NFL level he still logged a high number of quality reps at Clemson, and at 6-foot-2, 301 pounds he posted good athletic metrics at the NFL Combine (5.02-second 40-yard dash, 108-inch broad jump). Davis should be able to make the Rams roster.

Khristian Boyd 2005 DLSaints' Khristian Boyd: Onward to the Crescent City

Boyd comes to the Big Easy from Northern Iowa. He is the elder statesman of the Saints draft class at 24 years old with a college career that started in 2018. He is stout at 6-foot-2 and 329 pounds and profiles as a space-eater in the trenches.

Atlanta has added three pieces along the defensive front over the past two days of the 2024 NFL Draft, but Logue appears to be a true nose tackle based on sheer size (6-foot-5, 314 pounds). Given the Falcons have a number of veterans at the position already, it'll be interesting to see if Logue can crack the 53-man roster this season.

Janson Junk MIL RPBrewers' Janson Junk: Recalled from Triple-A
3m agoThe Brewers recalled Junk from Triple-A Nashville on Saturday.
With the Brewers down another starting pitcher following the news that Wade Miley (elbow) will need to undergo Tommy John surgery, Junk will come up from the minors to presumably fill the open spot in Milwaukee's rotation. His time in the majors will likely be brief, as Jakob Junis (shoulder/head) and DL Hall (knee) are both projected to return from the injured list within the next couple of weeks. Jared Koenig was optioned to Triple-A Nashville in a corresponding move.

Velazquez will begin Saturday's game on the bench with the Tigers sending out right-hander Casey Mize. Velazquez is hitless over his last six games and has reached base twice on walks over that span. Lefty-hitting Adam Frazier will start at DH and bat fifth in the lineup Saturday.

Koenig has been solid during his time in the majors, allowing just one earned run across 8.2 innings while striking out four batters and walking two. Despite his performance, the 30-year-old southpaw return to the minors to make room for Janson Junk, who was recalled from Nashville in a corresponding move.

22m agoDiaz (hand) is not in the starting lineup but is available as a pinch hitter for Saturday's game against the White Sox, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
Diaz left Friday's game after taking a 99-mph fastball off his left pinky in the eighth inning. X-rays came back negative, and while he won't start Saturday, he will be available should the Rays need a right-handed bat. With Diaz in the dugout, Ben Rortvedt will start at catcher and bat seventh against White Sox right-hander Jonathan Cannon.

Groin tightness has prevented Merrill from playing in the Padres' last two games, but he is seemingly feeling better heading into Saturday's contest. The 21-year-old is 5-for-18 with four RBI across his last five games, though all five of his hits in that span have been singles.

Allen didn't play in Game 3 of the series Friday, and his status is unclear, although the questionable tag leaves the door open for a return in what might be the final game of the Suns' season. Allen is averaging just 3.5 points per game while shooting a meager 20 percent from the field in his two appearances during the current series.

Robinson didn't participate in Saturday's practice and was spotted wearing a walking boot after Game 3 on Thursday, so his chances of playing are slim to none, given the recent developments. If that's the case, then Precious Achiuwa would operate as the primary backup behind Isaiah Hartenstein.

Hardaway left Game 2 of the series on Tuesday after just six minutes of action and didn't feature in Game 3, so he's been extremely limited in the series. The doubtful tag isn't particularly encouraging ahead of Sunday's contest, but an official announcement should be made closer to Sunday's 3:30 p.m. ET tipoff. Even if he's available, he should come off the bench and his minutes could be closely monitored given his recent injury issues.

Doncic has been impressive for the Mavericks during the first-round matchup against the Clippers, averaging 29.0 points, 9.7 rebounds and 8.0 assists per game through the first three contests. Even though it's not surprising to see Doncic dealing with soreness given his workload throughout the season, the issue shouldn't keep him away from playing -- and handling his usage rage -- in Sunday's contest.

1h agoLeonard (knee) will be questionable for Sunday's Game 4 against the Mavericks, head coach Tyronn Lue told Joey Linn of SI.com.
Leonard logged 25 minutes in Friday's Game 3 loss, finishing with nine points (4-7 FG, 1-1 FT), nine rebounds and two assists, but he didn't look as fluid in his movements as he did in Game 2, where he was able to play 35 minutes while pouring 15 points, seven rebounds and four steals. His official status will be determined closer to Sunday's 3.30 p.m. ET tipoff, but if he's ruled out, then Terance Mann and Amir Coffey would be in line to pick up extra minutes.

Fleury had a goal, five points, 31 hits and 40 blocks in 24 regular-season outings. He hasn't been in the lineup since April 6 because of the injury. If Fleury had been available for Game 4, he might have served as the seventh defenseman or been a healthy scratch.

Mikhail Sergachev TB DLightning's Mikhail Sergachev: Surprise return Saturday
36m agoSergachev (leg) was activated off long-term injured reserve, per the NHL media site, which sets him up to return for Game 4 against Florida on Saturday.
Sergachev was previously ruled out for the entire first round, so this news is a huge surprise. However, Tampa Bay is down 3-0 in the series, so if the defenseman didn't come back now, then it might have been too late. He had two goals, 19 points, 36 hits and 70 blocks in 34 regular-season appearances. While Sergachev typically serves in a top-four capacity, his minutes might be limited in his first contest since February 7.

Vasilevskiy has gone 0-3 this postseason, surrendering nine goals on 94 shots (.904 save percentage). The Lightning need a victory Saturday to avoid a four-game sweep, and the team should get a boost from having Mikhail Sergachev (leg) back in the lineup.

Brenden Dillon WPG DJets' Brenden Dillon: Questionable for Sunday
1h agoDillon didn't receive any muscle or tendon damage as a result of the skate cut to his hand, which occurred during a scrum at the end of Friday's 6-2 loss to Colorado in Game 3. Although it's great news that he didn't suffer a more serious injury, the 33-year-old defenseman did require stitches and remains questionable for Game 4 versus the Avalanche on Sunday, Mike McIntyre of the Winnipeg Free Press reports Saturday.
Dillon has three assists, four PIM, 12 hits and six blocks while averaging 21:04 of ice time across three playoff contests this year. He also accumulated eight goals, 20 points, 92 PIM, 241 hits and 111 blocks in 77 regular-season outings. If Dillon is forced to miss any action due to the injury, then Logan Stanley will likely draw into the lineup.

Forbort sat out the final 20 games of the regular season and Boston's first three playoff contests. He will be an option to play in Game 4 against Toronto on Saturday, but it wouldn't be surprising if he served as a healthy scratch. The 32-year-old blueliner earned four assists, 22 shots on goal, 65 blocked shots and 68 hits in 35 appearances during the 2023-24 campaign.

Sergei Bobrovsky FLA GPanthers' Sergei Bobrovsky: Facing Lightning
3h agoBobrovsky will be between the visiting pipes in Tampa Bay on Saturday in Game 4, Jameson Olive of the Panthers' official site reports.
Bobrovsky has been solid in net to help the Panthers take a 3-0 stranglehold on the best-of-seven series. He has allowed seven goals on 71 shots (.901 save percentage) against the Lightning in the opening round. Bobrovsky also had a stellar regular season, going 37-22-6 with a 2.42 GAA and a .921 save percentage. Florida can advance to the second round of the playoffs with a victory in Game 4.
