Tyler Boyd CIN WRTitans' Tyler Boyd: Finds home in Tennessee
24m agoBoyd and the Titans agreed to terms Tuesday on a one-year contract worth up to $4.5 million, Jeremy Fowler of ESPN.com reports.
Boyd becomes the newest member of a revamped Tennessee wide receiver corps that added Calvin Ridley atop the depth chart in a huge free agency contract, joining DeAndre Hopkins and Treylon Burks. Ridley and Hopkins figure to operate as quarterback Will Levis' clear top two targets, as both exceeded 1,000 receiving yards last season. Boyd's experience could make him the favorite to secure the No. 3 role over Burks, though it's perhaps more probable that Boyd dominates slot reps while Burks sees more opportunities on the outside. In both 2018 and 2019, Boyd himself topped 1,000 yards, but in four seasons since took a clear backseat to Ja'Marr Chase and Tee Higgins with the Bengals.

Tank Dell HOU WRTexans' Tank Dell: Full recovery from wound expected
1h agoTexans Chief Executive Officer Cal McNair indicated Monday that Dell (leg) is expected to make a "full recovery" from what the team has described as a minor wound that occurred during an April 27th shooting, the Associated Press reports.
Though McNair didn't provide details on the nature of the wideout's injury, he noted "it looks like Tank will make a full recovery. We saw him in the office the other day and he looked good, in good spirits. But he'll have to rehab and get back to where he was." Per the report, Dell has recovered from a fibula injury that he sustained last December, but it remains to be seen if the 2023 third-rounder's participation in the Texans' upcoming OTAs will be impacted by the wound he sustained last month. Once Dell has recovered, he'll be in line to reclaim his role in a Houston wide receiver corps that also returns Nico Collins, Robert Woods, Noah Brown and John Metchie, and has been bolstered by high-profile trade acquisition Stefon Diggs. In 11 regular-season games in 2023, Dell made his mark as a rookie by recording a 47-709-7 receiving line, while serving as a key pass-catching option for ascending signal-caller C.J. Stroud.

Christian Gonzalez NE CBPatriots' Christian Gonzalez: Recovering well, unsure for OTAs
1h agoGonzalez (shoulder) said Tuesday he feels "healthy" but is unsure how much he'll participate in OTAs, Andrew Callahan of the Boston Herald reports.
Gonzalez, a 2023 first-round pick, had a strong start to his career before suffering a season-ending right torn labrum in just Week 4. Per Mike Reiss of ESPN.com, Gonzalez is still rehabbing and focusing on strengthening his shoulder, so it sounds like he may be a limited participant at best when OTAs kick off May 20. Barring any setbacks, there are no concerns about Gonzalez gaining full medical clearance in advance of the 2024 regular season, and returning to a starting role at cornerback.

Jake Haener NO QBSaints' Jake Haener: Competition for QB2
14h agoHaener appears to be the early frontrunner to serve as the QB2 for the Saints this offseason, John Hendrix of Sports Illustrated reports.
Haener was suspended for the first six games of his 2023 campaign and has yet to make his NFL debut. However, the 6-foot-1 signal-caller should have a chance to establish himself as QB2 after New Orleans made several changes at the quarterback position this offseason. Last year's No. 2 QB Jameis Winston signed with the Colts in March. Meanwhile, the Saints signed veteran backup Nathan Peterman and fourth-year pro Kellen Mond this offseason before selecting Spencer Rattler in the fifth round of the 2024 NFL Draft. Carr is still clearly set as the starter, but the competition to be his primary reserve figures to be wide open this offseason. Haener's experience within the Saints' quarterback room should give him an immediate leg up on Peterman, Mond and Rattler. The 33-year-old Taysom Hill also is listed as a quarterback by the Saints, but he's better described as a multi-use player who regularly slots in at positions across the offense and special teams. It's highly unlikely that the team will carry more than three quarterbacks on the active roster during the 2024 campaign. Therefore, it will be worth monitoring how this competition shapes up during offseason workouts and training camp while projecting this QB depth chart.

The offensive guard and three-time Pro Bowler spent his first nine seasons in New Orleans. Peat has started 102 of his 111 career games, but he is listed as the Raiders' backup left guard behind Dylan Parham.

Marlon Davidson TEN DETitans' Marlon Davidson: Re-signs with Tennessee
17h agoDavidson re-signed with the Titans on Monday after spending the 2023 season with the team.
The defensive tackle played in five games and on 153 defensive snaps last year, recording 10 tackles. Davidson finished with 29 tackles in two seasons with the Falcons before missing the 2022 season with a knee injury. The 2020 second-round pick is behind Jeffery Simmons on Tennessee's depth chart.

Esteury Ruiz OAK LFAthletics' Esteury Ruiz: Drives in run in return
2m agoRuiz (wrist) went 0-for-2 with an RBI sacrifice fly in a loss to the Rangers on Monday.
Ruiz returned after a one-game absence due to a wrist injury he suffered Saturday and was able to contribute an RBI for the third consecutive contest. The 25-year-old outfielder has demonstrated a slight uptick in pop during the first month-plus of the season and appears to have moved past the wrist issue, given he drew the start in left field Monday.

Jack Leiter TEX SPRangers' Jack Leiter: Likely to make start Wednesday
11m agoLeiter has joined the Rangers in Oakland and would appear likely to make a start during Wednesday's doubleheader versus the Athletics, Kennedi Landry of MLB.com reports.
Michael Lorenzen will start one of Wednesday's games in Oakland. The Rangers have not yet announced a starter for the other contest, but it's reasonable to now assume it will be Leiter. The young right-hander struggled in a spot start in Detroit last month in his major-league debut in yielding seven runs over 3.2 frames, but he's been sharp at Triple-A Round Rock with a 2.84 ERA and 37:8 K:BB over 25.1 innings. While there is obvious risk, Leiter represents an intriguing streaming option Wednesday. He's a possibility to make at least one additional start, as well, while Nathan Eovaldi (groin) recovers.

J.P. France HOU SPAstros' J.P. France: Out with shoulder injury
11m agoFrance was placed on the 7-day injured list at Triple-A Sugar Land on Tuesday with a shoulder injury, Chandler Rome of The Athletic reports.
The right-hander was demoted to Triple-A on April 25 and surrendered three runs over 3.2 innings during his lone start prior to the injury. France is without an official timeline for his return but could be out "a while," per Rome. The injury won't immediately affect the Astros' rotation but is a big hit to their depth.

26m agoPeraza (shoulder) will begin a rehab assignment with Single-A Tampa on Tuesday.
Peraza is finally ready to test things out in a game setting after working his way back from a right shoulder strain which he initially suffered back in late February. Given how much time he's missed, he will presumably require more than a handful of rehab games. Peraza also isn't a given to immediately be added to the big-league roster, although the status of DJ LeMahieu (foot) will be a factor.

28m agoCronenworth went 2-for-4 with a run and a stolen base Monday in a 6-3 victory versus the Cubs.
Cronenworth's first theft of the campaign came as part of a double-steal with Fernando Tatis in the sixth inning, and both players subsequently came home on a Jurickson Profar single. Cronenworth doesn't typically offer much in terms of speed, though he did swipe a career-high six bags last season. The first baseman is working on a 10-game hitting streak during which he has slashed .357/.378/.690 with three homers, 10 RBI and seven runs.

Christian Wood LAL PFLakers' Christian Wood: Exercises player option
1h agoWood exercised his $3 million player option for the 2024-25 season Tuesday, Michael Scotto of USA Today reports.
Wood was a sporadic part of the rotation in Los Angeles this season, appearing in 50 games with averages of 6.9 points, 5.1 rebounds and 1.0 assists in 17.4 minutes. There could potentially be a lot of changes for the Lakers this offseason depending on whether or not LeBron James picks up his player option, so it's difficult to project Wood's role for next season at the moment.

5h agoGordon registered 20 points (8-14 FG, 3-5 3Pt, 1-2 FT), four rebounds, two assists and one steal in 33 minutes during Monday's 106-80 loss to Minnesota in Game 2 of the Western Conference Semifinals.
Gordon played with tons of energy and tried to spark the rest of the team throughout the game, but his efforts were unsuccessful. This game snapped a three-game streak of Gordon not being able to reach double-digit figures in the scoring column, and Gordon needs to remain a valuable offensive alternative for the Nuggets if they want to have a shot at turning the series around, especially given the struggles of both Jamal Murray and Michael Porter.

Nikola Jokic DEN CNuggets' Nikola Jokic: Nears triple-double in Game 2 loss
5h agoJokic amassed 16 points (5-13 FG, 0-1 3Pt, 6-6 FT), 16 rebounds, eight assists and one block across 39 minutes during Monday's 106-80 loss to the Timberwolves in Game 2 of the Western Conference Semifinals.
Jokic can change a game by himself at any point of a contest and is dominant enough to carry Denver to victory on a regular basis, but he hasn't been able to do it in the first two games of the current series. The two-time MVP winner is averaging 27.0 points, 15.0 rebounds and 9.4 assists per game through seven playoff contests. While he remains an absolute stud in fantasy regardless of what happens with the Nuggets as a team, he needs his teammates to take a step forward to avoid an early exit in their quest to win back-to-back NBA titles.

5h agoMurray finished with eight points (3-18 FG, 0-4 3Pt, 2-2 FT), 13 rebounds, two assists, one block and two steals across 36 minutes during Monday's 106-80 loss to Minnesota in Game 2 of the Western Conference Semifinals.
Murray has struggled badly in the postseason when it comes to his efficiency despite the fact he had some good moments in the series against the Lakers. However, Monday's game was a new low for him, as he missed 15 of his 18 shots and didn't reach the 10-point plateau for the first time since Feb. 29. Murray needs to bounce back if the Nuggets want to have a shot at turning things around. He's averaging 12.5 points per game while shooting just 28.1 percent from the floor in his first two appearances in the series.

5h agoAlexander-Walker accumulated 14 points (5-9 FG, 4-7 3Pt), six rebounds, one assist and three blocks in 30 minutes during Monday's 106-80 win over the Nuggets in Game 2 of the Western Conference Semifinals.
As has been the case throughout the entire playoff run, Alexander-Walker was impressive and provided a scoring punch off the bench, unsettling the Nuggets with his long-range shooting and energy. Alexander-Walker averaged just 8.0 points per game during the regular season, but he's taken his play to another level in the playoffs, scoring in double digits in four of his six appearances while upping his scoring average to 11.3 points per game.

5h agoTowns closed with 27 points (10-15 FG, 3-5 3Pt, 4-4 FT), 12 rebounds, one assist, two blocks and one steal across 36 minutes during Monday's 106-80 win over the Nuggets in Game 2 of the Western Conference Semifinals.
Towns was tasked with more responsibility on the defensive end since Rudy Gobert (personal) was unavailable for this contest. Even though he had to deal with Nikola Jokic on both ends of the court, Towns thrived and posted a great stat line. This was Towns' third double-double over his last four playoff appearances, and he's expected to return to his role at power forward in case Gobert is ready to return for Game 3 of the series, scheduled for Friday.

Alexandar Georgiev COL GAvalanche's Alexandar Georgiev: Starting Game 1
4m agoGeorgiev will start Tuesday on the road against Dallas in Round Two of the Stanley Cup playoffs, per Jesse Montano of Guerilla Sports.
Georgiev played ok during the first series, recording a .893 save percentage and allowed 15 goals in five games. The 28-year-old has a .907 save percentage and a 6-3 record in 10 career appearances against the Stars. He will need to be better in round two for the Avalanche to have a chance of moving on.

Jani Hakanpaa DAL DStars' Jani Hakanpaa: Out Tuesday

Hakanpaa hasn't played since March 16 -- he played a total of 64 regular-season games, recording two goals and 10 assists. The 32-year-old could see third-pairing usage if and when he returns to action.

Marchment, who has resumed skating, will miss his sixth consecutive contest. Marchment could be in the mix for a top-six spot in the lineup once he receives clearance to return to action.

Jake Oettinger DAL GStars' Jake Oettinger: Gets nod for Game 1
1h agoOettinger will start Game 1 on Tuesday at home against Colorado in the second round of the Stanley Cup playoffs, per Lia Assimakopoulos of The Dallas Morning News.
Oettinger was stellar in the first round against Vegas, recording a .925 save percentage and allowing only 14 goals in seven appearances. The 25-year-old will have a tough matchup against Colorado, who leads the league in playoff goals with 28 in only five games. The Stars will likely continue to ride Oettinger throughout their postseason run.

Nathan Legare NJ RWDevils' Nathan Legare: Signs two-way deal

Legare spent the whole season in the AHL in 2023-24, logging eight goals and four assists in 54 games played. Look for the 23-year-old to once again spend most, if not all, of the 2024-25 campaign in the minors.

Maxwell Willman NJ CDevils' Max Willman: Re-signs with New Jersey
2h agoWillman signed a one-year, two-way contract with the Devils on Tuesday.
Willman played 18 games with the Devils this season, recording three goals and one assist. The 29-year-old also played 33 games in the AHL this year, logging 12 goals and 10 assists. He will likely once again split time between the AHL and NHL in 2024-25 as an injury-replacement option for New Jersey.
