Raiders' Michael Gallup: Lands in Las Vegas
    6h ago

Gallup agreed to terms on a one-year, $3 million contract with the Raiders on Monday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.

After a six-year stint in Dallas to start his career, Gallup will get a fresh start in Las Vegas. His second year with the Cowboys generated plenty of optimism, as he tallied 1,107 yards receiving to go along with six touchdowns. However, he has failed to replicate those types of numbers since. With Davante Adams and Jakobi Meyers locked in as the Raiders' top pass catchers, Gallup will compete with the likes of Tre Tucker and DJ Turner, among others, for the No. 3 pass-catching role.

Bills' Curtis Samuel: Get competition via draft
    6h ago

Samuel has a new teammate in the receiving room after the Bills took Keon Coleman out of Florida State with the first pick of the second round Friday.

Samuel, signed as a free agent in March, was never going to be a No. 1 or even a No. 2 in Buffalo, but now we at least know who's been brought in ahead of him on the depth chart. It's a mild surprise the Bills chose only one receiver with their 10 draft picks, so for now the versatile Samuel likely sits No. 3 in the pecking order behind Khalil Shakir and Coleman. That said, this is a perfect offense for Samuel's skill set, and he'll be a weapon of some sort once things get going, just not the primary receiving option.

Falcons' Kyle Pitts: Has 2025 option exercised
    8h ago

The Falcons exercised Pitts' 2025 fifth-year option, Field Yates of ESPN reports.

It's a no-brainer move for the Falcons, even if Pitts, the No. 8 overall pick of the 2021 Draft, is coming off back-to-back disappointing seasons after going over 1,000 yards as a rookie. The hope in Atlanta is that the acquisition of Kirk Cousins coupled with the new coaching staff can help maximize Pitts' abilities. Pitts' figures to be a popular 2024 rebound candidate in both real life and fantasy football.

Rodriguez didn't factor into the decision Monday, allowing three runs (two earned) on six hits and three walks over 3.2 innings. He struck out one.

Rodriguez struggled to get quick outs, getting pulled after 82 pitches without completing four innings. While he's yet to go deeper than four frames this season, Rodriguez owns a 4.11 ERA and a 1.76 WHIP on the year. If Alek Manoah (shoulder) isn't ready to rejoin the rotation, Rodriguez should slot into another start Sunday at Washington.

    14m ago

Bowlan (0-1) took the loss Monday against Toronto, allowing four runs on six hits and three walks over 2.2 innings. He struck out three.

Bowlan was called up to replace Alec Marsh (elbow) in the Royals rotation, making his second career start and first MLB appearance of 2024. The 27-year-old was tagged for three home runs: a two-run homer and a solo homer to Justin Turner and a solo shot to Danny Jansen. Although Marsh will miss at least one more start, it wouldn't be surprising if the Royals look to somebody other than Bowlan to fill the fifth spot in the rotation after his awful showing Monday.

Taillon didn't factor into the decision Monday, allowing one run on four hits and a walk over 7.1 innings. He struck out one.

Taillon was able to complete six innings for the first time this season and managed to exceed seven innings in just 78 pitches. Taillon's lone blemish came from the first batter he faced as Brandon Nimmo clubbed a solo home run in the first frame. The veteran righty has yet to yield multiple earned runs through three starts, owning an impressive 1.50 ERA. However, he's only been able to punch out nine batters in his 18.0 innings of work. Taillon is set to close out a two-start week with a matchup against the Brewers on Saturday.

James did everything in his power to extend this opening-round matchup, which included playing all but four minutes of Game 5, but it wasn't enough to get the job done. The 39-year-old forward poured in 30 points in each of the last two games and consistently packed the stat sheet throughout the series, averaging 27.8 points, 6.8 rebounds, 8.8 assists, 2.4 steals and 1.0 blocks over five appearances.

Murray's status heading into Monday's matchup was in doubt due to a calf injury, but he showed zero signs of discomfort, leading his squad in scoring and tacking on the game-winning bucket to send Denver to the next round. Monday marked his best scoring performance of the opening round after putting up 22 points in back-to-back showings heading into Game 5.

Lakers' Anthony Davis: Battles through shoulder injury

Davis suffered a left shoulder injury during the third quarter of Monday's Game 5 against the Nuggets but was able to return after visiting the locker room. He recorded 17 points (8-11 FG, 1-2 FT), 15 rebounds, four assists and two blocks across 40 minutes in the loss.

Davis suffered the injury early in the third quarter on a play where he took contact to his left shoulder, and though he was able to remain in the contest immediately after, he was barely able to use his left arm. The 31-year-old exited the game with four minutes left in the third quarter and went to the locker room, later returning for the final period. The injury certainly impacted Davis on the offense end of the court, forcing LeBron James and Austin Reaves to shoulder a heavy workload down the stretch. Davis dominated on the glass throughout the opening-round series, averaging 15.6 boards over five games.

Oettinger matched his performance from Game 3, though the Stars' offense wasn't nearly as active Monday as it was Saturday. The 25-year-old has helped the Western Conference's top seed erase a 2-0 series deficit with back-to-back wins in Vegas. Oettinger has given up 10 goals on 108 shots in the first round so far. Hagel posted three goals, two assists, eight shots on net and 13 hits over five playoff appearances. The winger solidified his status as a top-six winger for the Lightning in 2023-24, earning 26 goals, 75 points, 184 shots on net and 79 PIM over 82 regular-season appearances. He earned an eight-year contract extension last summer, which will begin in 2024-25, so Hagel should be a key piece for the Lightning's offense for years to come.

The 30-year-old Kucherov had an excellent 2024-25 despite the early playoff exit, earning 44 goals and 100 assists in 81 regular-season appearances. He should continue to be one of the top right wings in the NHL heading into 2024-25.

Hedman put the Lightning on the board in the second period, but they couldn't build any momentum. The 33-year-old did his part in the Lightning's first-round exit, racking up seven points, 15 shots on net, 13 hits, nine blocked shots and a minus-1 rating over five contests. The 29-year-old gave up 16 goals on 156 shots, an .897 save percentage, during the postseason. Vasilevskiy remains entrenched as the Lightning's No. 1 goalie heading in 2024-25, though he'll be looking to rebound from the statistically worst season of his career -- he had a 30-20-2 record, a 2.90 GAA and a .900 save percentage in 52 regular-season outings.
