Michael Wilson ARI WRCardinals' Michael Wilson: Outlook muddied after recent arrivals
13h agoWilson has more competition for targets from quarterback Kyler Murray after the team selected Marvin Harrison fourth overall in this year's draft and then signed seven-year pro Zay Jones last week, Josh Weinfuss of ESPN.com reports.
Wilson spent much of the offseason No. 2, at best, in the pecking order in the Cardinals passing game behind tight end Trey McBride, but the recent additions leave Wilson's potential volume in the upcoming campaign up in the air. As a rookie second-round pick last year, Wilson put together a 38-565-3 line on 58 targets in 13 contests, but he produced just 13 catches (on 25 targets) for 164 yards and one touchdown in five outings with Murray under center. The arrival of the dynamic Harrison likely leaves Wilson fending for looks with Jones, who has three years with at least 500 receiving yards on his resume.

14h agoElliss (shoulder) should be fully recovered from shoulder surgery by training camp, Mike Klis of 9News reports.
Elliss underwent surgery to repair a torn shoulder labrum six months ago, but he still isn't quite 100 percent. However, the Broncos' 2024 third-round selection was able to take part in walkthroughs and individual portions of the team's recent rookie minicamp. The son of former NFL player Luther Elliss, Jonah projects to be a pass-rush specialist after recording 12 sacks in just 10 games at Utah last season.

15h agoHavrisik was waived by the Browns on Tuesday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.
Havrisik signed a reserve/future contract with Cleveland in January after the Rams waived him. He was expected to at least have the opportunity to compete with Dustin Hopkins (hamstring) and Cade York for the team's kicker job in 2024, but instead, he'll become a free agent once again.

Luciano was set to get a second opportunity with the 49ers after appearing in two games with the franchise last season. However, he'll now hit the open market again to make room for swing tackle Chris Hubbard.

Jahmyr Gibbs DET RBLions' Jahmyr Gibbs: To see more touches in 2024
15h agoAppearing on The Rich Eisen Show on Monday, Lions GM Brad Holmes said he "definitely would expect" Gibbs to "see more of the load" out of the backfield in 2024.
Holmes added that he thinks Gibbs will also be even more involved in the passing game in his second season. Only seven running backs saw more targets than Gibbs' 71 in 2023, and his 52 catches were tied for the ninth-most at the position. Backfield mate David Montgomery out-carried Gibbs, 219-182, but Gibbs had a commanding edge in the pass game with 47 more targets than the veteran. There's reason to believe Gibbs' touches will rise in 2024, but Montgomery isn't going away. This backfield will remain a one-two punch, and Montgomery is the favorite for carries when the Lions are trying to kill the clock when they have a lead. Gibbs' fantasy ceiling remains extremely high due to the overall explosive nature of Detroit's offense.

Brown headed to San Francisco in February after appearing in 12 games over two seasons with the Rams. The Northwestern product will depart the team, along with center Corey Luciano, to make room for recent additions Chris Hubbard and Shakel Brown.

1m agoCasas (rib) was upbeat Tuesday when discussing the progress he's made while on rehab, Ian Browne of MLB.com reports.
At the time of his injury, Casas was unsure how his body would respond, but he was enthused when discussing his recovery. "Everything is going well. I'm making a lot of progress," Casas said. "Starting a running progression here in the next couple of days. Should get to start throwing in two or three more days. I've already started lifting. Swinging is probably the last step, because that's a lot of rotation." Casas is currently on the 60-day injured list and isn't eligible to return until June 21. While he's been out, the Red Sox have filled first base with a rotation of players that includes Garrett Cooper, Dominic Smith and Romy Gonzalez.

5m agoGonzalez went 1-for-1 with an RBI in Tuesday's 5-4 extra-innings win over the Rays.
Gonzalez, who entered as a pinch runner for Dominic Smith in the 10th inning, stayed in the game to play first base, then delivered the game-winning run in the 12th with a single just inside the line in right field. The utility infielder has been a serviceable piece for manager Alex Cora, who has deployed him at shortstop and first base, positions where Boston's regulars suffered significant injuries. Gonzalez has hit safely in six of eight games, going 6-for-19 (.316) with two steals, one RBI and two runs scored.

16m agoRodriguez threw four scoreless innings of relief in Tuesday's 7-4 loss to the Guardians.
Starter Jack Leiter was bounced after 1.2 innings, and Texas needed its 29th-ranked bullpen (5.14 ERA) to get through the day. And they got it from Jonathan Hernandez (2.1 scoreless innings) and Rodriguez, who faced the minimum over four innings -- he hit a batter but followed it with a double-play.

Jankowski started for the third time in four games, as Evan Carter (back) remained unavailable. On top of Carter's absence, Wyatt Langford's hamstring injury has created a path to at-bats for the seldom-used Jankowski, who's taken advantage of the increased plate appearances. Since May 2, Jankowski is 9-for-31 (.290) with a stolen base, a double, five RBI and three runs scored over 12 games.

Hunter Greene CIN SPReds' Hunter Greene: Bounces back with win
35m agoGreene (2-2) got the win over the Diamondbacks on Tuesday, allowing two runs on five hits and a walk while striking out five over seven innings.
Greene's only blunder of an inning came in the third after allowing the first two guys on before they came around to score on a base knock from Blaze Alexander. He otherwise kept Arizona quiet and put together an excellent rebound outing after some mixed results against them last week. Greene has walked at least a batter in every start this season, but his one free pass was significantly better than the nine he'd given up over his last two starts. The 24-year-old flamethrower now owns a 3.27 ERA, 1.18 WHIP and 58:22 K:BB in 52.1 innings and liens up to complete a two-start week against the Dodgers this weekend.

1h agoHurtubise started in left field and went 0-for-2 in Tuesday's 6-2 win over the Diamondbacks.
Hurtubise, who was called up from Triple-A Louisville on Monday, made his first MLB start, giving Spencer Steer a break. The 26-year-old Hurtubise was eventually pinch hit for against a left-handed reliever. He's just the second graduate of West Point to reach the major leagues.

5h agoPorter had six points (2-10 FG, 2-7 3Pt), seven rebounds, one assist and two blocks over 36 minutes during Tuesday's 112-97 victory over the Timberwolves in Game 5 of the Western Conference Semifinals.
Porter managed just six points in the victory, continuing his recent offensive struggles. He has scored fewer than 10 points in three of the past four games, a very different story when compared to how he opened the playoffs. Despite his poor shooting, the Nuggets now sit just one win away from an other trip to the Conference Finals. Look for Porter to turn things around in the near future.

5h agoJokic supplied 40 points (15-22 FG, 2-3 3Pt, 8-9 FT), seven rebounds, 13 assists, one block and two steals over 41 minutes during Tuesday's 112-97 victory over the Timberwolves in Game 5 of the Western Conference Semifinals.
Jokic took over during the Game 5 victory, leading the Nuggets to a third consecutive victory over the Timberwolves. Despite coming up against the defensive player of the year, Jokic had no issues getting what he wanted in and around the basket. The series will now head back to Minnesota where Jokic and the Nuggets will look to wrap things up.

5h agoBraun closed Tuesday's 112-97 victory over Minnesota in Game 5 of the Western Conference Semifinals with 10 points (4-8 FG, 1-2 3Pt, 1-3 FT), five rebounds, two assists, two blocks and one steal over 28 minutes.
Braun continues to play meaningful minutes for the Nuggets, scoring double-digits for the second straight game. After failing to play more than 19 minutes during the first eight postseason games, he has now played 25 and 28 minutes respectively in each of the past two games. After reeling off three straight victories, the Nuggets now sit one win away from a trip to the Conference Finals.

Edwards struggled from the field, going 5-of-15 en route to just 18 points. After leading the series 2-0, the Timberwolves now find themselves trailing 3-2. Edwards is going to have to rediscover his mojo should they hope to extend the series to a seventh game.

5h agoAlexander-Walker amassed 14 points (5-12 FG, 4-8 3Pt), two rebounds, five assists and two blocks across 39 minutes during Tuesday's 112-97 loss to the Nuggets in Game 5 of the Western Conference Semifinals.
Alexander-Walker moved into the starting lineup Tuesday, replacing Mike Conley who was ruled out due to an Achilles issue. While he was far from spectacular, Alexander-Walker cobbled together a serviceable performance, contributing on both ends of the floor. Now trailing 3-2 in the series, Minnesota will be hoping Conley is cleared to return for Game 6. Should that not be the case, expect to see Alexander-Walker running with the starters once again.

Reid was a non-factor in the loss, continuing his recent struggles. Coming off a career-best season, Reid has been unable to produce at a consistent level during the postseason. He has scored fewer than 15 points in eight of the Timberwolves' nine playoff games. Now facing a must-win matchup, Reid will look to turn things around in front of his home fans.

Zadorov continues to make a mark in this second-round series -- he has five points over four contests, in addition to a cross-checking penalty that earned him a fine at the end of Game 3. The defenseman is up to eight points, 19 shots on net, 35 hits, 15 blocked shots and a plus-3 rating over 10 playoff appearances. The 29-year-old saw 22:01 of ice time Tuesday, his second-highest total in the playoffs as he continues to earn more trust from head coach Rick Tocchet.

Lindholm set up Conor Garland on the Canucks' first goal during their third-period comeback effort. The helper gives Lindholm five points over four contests in the second round. He's up to five goals, three assists, 19 shots on net, 27 hits, 13 blocked shots and a plus-2 rating through 10 outings this postseason. While he's listed on the third line, he gets enough all-situations minutes to be a de facto top-six forward.

Boeser has three goals and four assists during a five-game point streak. He was initially credited with the Canucks' second goal Tuesday, but it was later changed to an assist on Dakota Joshua's tally. Boeser is up to 12 points, 25 shots on net and a plus-4 rating over 10 playoff appearances. Boeser and J.T. Miller continue to form a strong partnership on the Canucks' top line.

Hughes has four assists over his last three games, though this one was his first at even strength in that span. The defenseman is up to nine helpers, 14 shots on net, 10 blocked shots and a plus-1 rating over 10 playoff appearances. Hughes is still providing solid offense and steady defense from a top-pairing role, so the lack of goals shouldn't be a concern for fantasy managers or Canucks fans.

Joshua scored late in the third period, but it wasn't late enough to prevent the Oilers from answering to get the win. The 27-year-old Joshua has eight points over 10 playoff outings, but six of them have come in a pair of three-point efforts, making him inconsistent with his contributions on offense. The winger has added seven shots on net, 54 hits and a plus-4 rating while playing on the third line.

Garland got the Canucks on the board in the third period. The winger has two goals and 11 shots on net over four games in the second round after he was held to two assists in six first-round appearances. The winger has added 19 shots, 10 hits, eight blocked shots and a plus-3 rating over 10 playoff outings while filling a middle-six role.
