6h agoGallup agreed to terms on a one-year, $3 million contract with the Raiders on Monday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
After a six-year stint in Dallas to start his career, Gallup will get a fresh start in Las Vegas. His second year with the Cowboys generated plenty of optimism, as he tallied 1,107 yards receiving to go along with six touchdowns. However, he has failed to replicate those types of numbers since. With Davante Adams and Jakobi Meyers locked in as the Raiders' top pass catchers, Gallup will compete with the likes of Tre Tucker and DJ Turner, among others, for the No. 3 pass-catching role.

6h agoSamuel has a new teammate in the receiving room after the Bills took Keon Coleman out of Florida State with the first pick of the second round Friday.
Samuel, signed as a free agent in March, was never going to be a No. 1 or even a No. 2 in Buffalo, but now we at least know who's been brought in ahead of him on the depth chart. It's a mild surprise the Bills chose only one receiver with their 10 draft picks, so for now the versatile Samuel likely sits No. 3 in the pecking order behind Khalil Shakir and Coleman. That said, this is a perfect offense for Samuel's skill set, and he'll be a weapon of some sort once things get going, just not the primary receiving option.

The Giants opted not to hold on to Lemieux after the termination of his rookie contract, but he's now found another chance with the Saints. He's set to compete for a roster spot among an offensive line that underwhelmed in 2023.

In a corresponding move, Arizona signed rookie free-agent long snapper Joe Shimko. Hembrough now will have to look for his next opportunity with a new team after spending his entire rookie season on the injured reserve list.

Griffin Hebert PHI WRGriffin Hebert: Gets let go
8h agoHebert was waived by the Eagles on Monday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.
Hebert joined Philadelphia's practice squad late last season and turned that into a reserve/future contract with the team in January. However, the Louisiana Tech product's time with the team will come to an end for now, and he'll have the chance to pursue new opportunities.

It's a no-brainer move for the Falcons, even if Pitts, the No. 8 overall pick of the 2021 Draft, is coming off back-to-back disappointing seasons after going over 1,000 yards as a rookie. The hope in Atlanta is that the acquisition of Kirk Cousins coupled with the new coaching staff can help maximize Pitts' abilities. Pitts' figures to be a popular 2024 rebound candidate in both real life and fantasy football.

2m agoRyan didn't factor into the decision Monday, allowing two runs on six hits and a walk across six innings against the White Sox. He struck out three.
Although Ryan tallied his lowest strikeout total of the campaign, he cashed in on his fourth quality start of his last five appearances. After yielding a pair of home runs to the White Sox in his last start, Ryan limited the team to just one extra-base hit on the day. He owns a 1.3 BB/9 through 34.2 innings in 2024, another improvement after posting a 2.9 BB/9 in 2022 and a 1.9 BB/9 in 2023. Ryan is tentatively scheduled for a start against the Sox of Boston on Sunday.

8m agoThielbar earned the save Monday against the White Sox, allowing one hit and one walk with two strikeouts over a scoreless inning.
Theilbar followed both Griffin Jax and Brock Stewart for his second save in as many appearances. However, with Jhoan Duran (oblique) expected to be activated Tuesday after an IL stint, Thielbar will likely return to a middle relief role.

Stephenson has now missed two consecutive matchups after being struck on the right hand by a pitch Saturday against the Rangers. Luke Maile drew the start behind the dish Monday and could continue to see playing time until Stephenson is cleared to return.

Jansen tagged Jonathan Bowlan for a solo homer in the third inning, marking the catcher's second home run in the last three games. After missing the first few weeks of the season with an injury, Jansen is slashing .269/.387/.615 with a 12.9 percent strikeout rate in 31 plate appearances.

14m agoEncarnacion-Strand (hand) underwent a precautionary MRI on Monday, Gordon Wittenmyer of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.
Encarnacion-Strand has been held out of each of his club's last two games while dealing with soreness in his left hand, and the team sent him for further imaging Monday to make sure he's not dealing with anything serious. "He's feeling better, but we're just making sure," said manager David Bell. Encarnacion-Strand will continue to be considered day-to-day heading into Tuesday.

Fermin notched his second multi-hit game of the campaign and his eighth-inning solo home run off Erik Swanson marked Fermin's 10th career long ball. In 47 plate appearances, Fermin is slashing .227/.277/.318 and is striking out at a 10.6 percent clip.

James did everything in his power to extend the opening-round matchup, including playing all but four minutes of Game 5, but it wasn't enough to get the job done. The 39-year-old forward poured in 30 points in each of the last two games and consistently packed the stat sheet throughout the series, averaging 27.8 points, 6.8 rebounds, 8.8 assists, 2.4 steals and 1.0 blocks over five appearances.

Jokic dominated on the boards and fell just one assist shy of a triple-double in Monday's series-clinching win. He continues to show why he's one of the most valuable big men in the league, as he averaged 28.2 points, 16.2 rebounds, 9.8 assists and 1.2 steals over five games in the opening round.

Murray's status heading into Monday's matchup was in doubt due to a calf injury, but he showed zero signs of discomfort, leading his squad in scoring and tacking on the game-winning bucket to send Denver to the next round. Monday marked his best scoring performance of the opening round after putting up 22 points in back-to-back showings heading into Game 5.

Marshall turned in an efficient shooting performance, scoring nine of his 16 points from beyond the arc. He had an inconsistent series at best, as he was held to five points in two of his team's four matchups on the way to being swept.

Anthony Davis LAL CLakers' Anthony Davis: Battles through shoulder injury
1h agoDavis suffered a left shoulder injury during the third quarter of Monday's Game 5 against the Nuggets but was able to return after visiting the locker room. He recorded 17 points (8-11 FG, 1-2 FT), 15 rebounds, four assists and two blocks across 40 minutes in the loss.
Davis suffered the injury early in the third quarter on a play during which he took contact to his left shoulder, and though he was able to remain in the contest immediately afterward, he was barely able to use his left arm. The 31-year-old exited the game with four minutes left in the third quarter and went to the locker room, later returning for the final period. The injury seemed to impact Davis on the offensive end of the court, forcing LeBron James and Austin Reaves to shoulder heavy workloads down the stretch. Davis dominated on the glass throughout the opening-round series, averaging 15.6 boards over five games.

Holmgren couldn't get his shot working from downtown, but he was able to bounce back from a sluggish six-point showing in Game 3. The Gonzaga product averaged 15.3 points, 8.8 rebounds, 2.3 assists and 2.8 blocks during a four-game sweep of New Orleans.

Seguin helped out on a Wyatt Johnston equalizer in the second period. This was Seguin's second helper in as many contests, and he's added 11 shots on net, 11 hits and a plus-2 rating over four playoff games. The 32-year-old seems to be clicking well on the third line with Evgenii Dadonov and Joe Pavelski, though they'll likely only be relied on for depth scoring going forward.

The helper was Duchene's first point in four playoff outings. The center has added seven shots on net over the last two games, showing more promise flanked by Jamie Benn and Logan Stankoven following the Stars' lineup shuffle for Game 3. Duchene had 65 points, 172 shots on net and a plus-15 rating over 80 regular-season appearances, so getting his offense going could help the Stars build on their momentum late in this first-round series versus Vegas.

Dellandrea's goal in the second period stood as the game-winner. The 23-year-old has played in the last two games after being a healthy scratch for the previous seven contests. Dellandrea's playing time can be inconsistent in a bottom-six role, but he put up nine points, 53 shots on net and 63 hits over 42 regular-season outings. He should stick in the lineup at least until one of Mason Marchment (undisclosed) or Radek Faksa (undisclosed) can return to play.

Dadonov struck late in the first period, scoring from the corner with a shot that banked in off Vegas goalie Logan Thompson. With two points through four playoff outings, Dadonov is offering some depth offense. He's clicked on a veteran line with Joe Pavelski and Tyler Seguin since the Stars had to shuffle their forwards due to injury absences for Mason Marchment (undisclosed) and Radek Faksa (undisclosed). Dadonov has added two shots on net, five hits and three blocked shots in the postseason.

Johnston has three goals over the last two games to help the Stars bounce back from a 2-0 series deficit. His second-period tally Monday tied the game at 2-2. The 20-year-old has four points, 18 shots on net, four hits and a minus-1 rating through four playoff appearances. He's found instant success since a promotion to the top line, so he'll likely remain there for Wednesday's Game 5.
