Deon Jackson NYG RB
Giants' Deon Jackson: Done with Giants
3m agoThe Giants waived Jackson (undisclosed) with an injury designation Friday, Dan Salomone of the team's official site reports.
Jackson suited up for both Cleveland and Indianapolis in 2023, but he demonstrated a tendency to fumble the ball away and thus spent most of last season on the bench. He'll now have to look for another opportunity with a new team.
-
Phillip Dorsett DEN WR
Phillip Dorsett: Done in Denver
1h agoDorsett is slated to be released by the Broncos on Friday, Zac Stevens of TheDNVR.com reports.
Dorsett spend the 2023 season on Denver's practice squad, but he won't stick with the team as rookie minicamp gets fully underway. The 2015 first-round pick appeared in two games last season but didn't secure any of this three targets, and he'll now need to search for a depth opportunity elsewhere in the league.
-
Zak Zinter CLE OG
Browns' Zak Zinter: At rookie minicamp
1h agoZinter (lower leg) participated at rookie minicamp practice Friday, Zac Jackson of The Athletic reports.
Zinter sustained a broken tibia and fibula during his last game at Michigan back in November, but he's apparently already back in action. He figures to provide depth to the interior of a stacked Browns offensive line in 2024.

Kiran Amegadjie CHI OT
Bears' Kiran Amegadjie: Likely out for OTAs and camp
1h agoAmegadjie likely won't participate in OTAs or in rookie minicamp due to a quadriceps injury he sustained prior to the draft, Jason Lieser of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.
It's likely Chicago was aware Amegadjie wouldn't be fully ready to go right from the jump, so it's probably too early to start ringing any alarm bells. Once ready, he'll compete for reps at tackle with Braxton Jones and Darnell Wright.
-
Terrell Bynum IND WR
Terrell Bynum: Done with Colts
1h agoIndianapolis waived Bynum on Friday.
Bynum initially signed with the Colts back in January, but after adding talent at wide receiver in the draft, they decided to part ways with him. He'll now have to look for his next opportunity with a new team.
-
Zay Jones JAC WR
Cardinals' Zay Jones: Interesting landing spot in Arizona
2h agoJones and the Cardinals agreed to terms Friday on a contract, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
Jones' deal is reportedly a one-year contract worth up to $4.25 million, per Jordan Schultz of BleacherReport.com. The big-bodied veteran was released by Jacksonville after the team's selection of Brian Thomas in the first round of the 2024 NFL Draft, but he now finds a landing spot in the desert with a clear spot to starting in three-wide sets. No. 4 overall pick Marvin Harrison profiles as the alpha in Arizona's wideout room, while tight end Trey McBride could be quarterback Kyler Murray's second most trusted playmaker, but Jones could well solidify himself over Michael Wilson. Jones was limited to nine games last season, but in 2022 he logged a 82-823-5 receiving line on 121 targets.
-
Brendan Donovan STL LF
Cardinals' Brendan Donovan: Sitting against lefty
5m agoDonovan isn't in the Cardinals' lineup for Friday's game against the Brewers, Jeff Jones of the Belleville News-Democrat reports.
Left-hander Robert Gasser will make his MLB debut Friday as Milwaukee's starting pitcher, meaning the left-handed bat of Donovan will watch the beginning of the game from the Cardinals' dugout. Lars Nootbaar, Mike Siani and Dylan Carlson will start across St. Louis' outfield while Donovan sits.
-
Nolan Gorman STL 2B
Cardinals' Nolan Gorman: Sitting versus left-hander
7m agoGorman is not in the starting lineup for Friday's contest with the Brewers, Jeff Jones of the Belleville News-Democrat reports.
Gorman will take a seat as left-hander Robert Gasser makes his major-league debut on the mound for Milwaukee. Jose Fermin will draw the start at second base in his place and bat leadoff against the Brewers.
-
Jason Delay PIT C
Pirates' Jason Delay: Moves to 60-day IL
11m agoThe Pirates transferred Delay (knee) to the 60-day injured list Friday.
Delay will give up his spot on the 40-man roster in order to make room for Daulton Jefferies, who was acquired in a trade with the Giants on Friday. Delay was already expected to be out until July after undergoing knee surgery in April, so his move to the 60-day IL has virtually no impact on his return timeline. He has resumed catching during bullpen sessions, but he still has a long way to go before returning to the Pirates' lineup.
-
Jameson Taillon CHC SP
Cubs' Jameson Taillon: Dealing with back stiffness
11m agoCubs manager Craig Counsell said Friday that Taillon was scratched from Friday's start against the Pirates due to back stiffness, Meghan Montemurro of the Chicago Tribune reports.
Taillon felt his back act up Tuesday when playing catch, and it has persisted enough for his slated start for the series opener to be pushed back. Counsell noted that the back issue is not as bad as the one Taillon sustained in spring training that caused the right-hander to start the season on the 15-day IL. Taillon will be re-evaluated Saturday, and there's a chance he takes the mound in the series finale Sunday. Javier Assad will start Friday while Justin Steele will take to the mound Saturday.
-
Alika Williams PIT 2B
Pirates' Alika Williams: Sent down Friday
13m agoWilliams was optioned to Triple-A Indianapolis on Friday.
After making the Opening Day roster, Williams produced a .239 batting average with two triples, a double, two RBI, seven runs scored and a stolen base over 46 at-bats in 15 games with the Pirates so far in 2024, but he'll now head to Indianapolis. In his place, Nick Gonzales was recalled from Triple-A and will likely see most of his work at second base moving forward.
-
Alex Kirilloff MIN LF
Twins' Alex Kirilloff: Idle for second straight
30m agoKirillof is not in the starting lineup for Friday's outing against the Blue Jays.
The 26-year-old will start from the dugout for the second straight matchup as Austin Martin will take left field versus Toronto lefty Yusei Kikuchi. Kiriloff has struggled lately to produce with his bat, going hitless in his last six games.
-
Craig Porter Jr. CLE PG
Cavaliers' Craig Porter: Another absence coming
41m agoPorter (ankle) won't play in Saturday's Game 3 against the Celtics.
Porter will miss his 10th straight game Saturday due to a left ankle sprain. His next chance to suit up is Game 4 on Monday.
-
Ty Jerome CLE SG
Cavaliers' Ty Jerome: Remains sidelined
1h agoJerome (ankle) is out for Saturday's Game 3 against the Celtics.
Jerome hasn't played since Oct. 27 due to a right ankle injury. It appears unlikely he will suit up this postseason.
-
Jarrett Allen CLE C
Cavaliers' Jarrett Allen: Gets another questionable tag
1h agoAllen (ribs) is questionable for Saturday's Game 3 against the Celtics.
Allen has missed five straight games and was listed as questionable ahead of each of them, so his current status doesn't provide increased optimism. The Cavaliers were surprisingly able to even the series with a Game 2 victory Thursday, and the potential return of their star big man would be another major momentum shift, especially with Kristaps Porzingis (calf) expected to be sidelined for at least a few more games. However, if Allen remains sidelined, Isaac Okoro would likely draw another start.
-
Dean Wade CLE PF
Cavaliers' Dean Wade: Iffy for Game 3
1h agoWade (knee) is listed as questionable for Saturday's Game 3 against the Celtics.
Wade hasn't played since March 8 due to a right knee sprain. If Wade is upgraded to available, it remains to be seen how he will be featured in Cleveland's playoff rotation.
-
Jalen Brunson NY PG
Knicks' Jalen Brunson: Expected to play Friday
2h agoBrunson (foot) will likely go through warmups and play in Friday's Game 3 against the Pacers, Stefan Bondy of The New York Post reports.
Brunson is officially listed as questionable for Friday's contest due to right foot soreness but is expected to suit up. The star guard is averaging 35.6 points, 8.1 assists and 4.4 rebounds in 42.4 minutes across his eight appearances thus far in the postseason.
-
Jalen Williams OKC SF
Thunder's Jalen Williams: Scores 20 points in Game 2 defeat
6h agoWilliams closed with 20 points (7-17 FG, 2-4 3Pt, 4-4 FT), four rebounds, four assists, one block and one steal across 39 minutes during Thursday's 119-110 loss to the Mavericks in Game 2 of the Western Conference Semifinals.
Williams was the Thunder's second-best scoring option behind Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, but his solid two-way contributions were not enough to lift Oklahoma City to a 2-0 series lead. Williams has been outstanding in the playoffs and has confirmed the improvements he evidenced during the regular season. Through six postseason appearances, he's averaging 20.5 points, 6.3 rebounds, 4.8 assists and 1.3 steals per game while shooting 49 percent from the field.

Vasily Podkolzin VAN RW
Canucks' Vasily Podkolzin: Recalled with black aces
11m agoPodkolzin was called up from AHL Abbotsford on Friday as part of a group of black aces with Arshdeep Bains, Linus Karlsson, Danila Klimovich, Jonathan Lekkerimaki, Aatu Raty, Max Sasson, Nick Cicek, Matt Irwin, Cole McWard, defenseman Elias Pettersson, Christian Wolanin and Zach Sawchenko.
Podkolzin had two assists in 19 regular-season contests with Vancouver in 2023-24. He also recorded 28 points in 44 regular-season AHL outings and an assist in three AHL playoff appearances this year. Abbotsford has been eliminated from playoff contention, which is what prompted this move. None of those promoted are likely to factor into the lineup unless Vancouver runs into injury problems.
-
Mika Zibanejad NYR C
Rangers' Mika Zibanejad: Extend scoring streak to 13 games
1h agoZibanejad registered a shorthanded assist in a 3-2 overtime victory over Carolina in Game 3 on Thursday.
Zibanejad helped out Chris Kreider midway through the second period to even the score at 1-1. The 31-year-old Zibanejad is on a 13-game scoring streak dating back to the regular season in which he's provided five goals and 20 points -- that run includes three goals and 12 points across seven playoff outings this year. Zibanejad figures to continue to play a critical role on the Rangers' first line and top power-play unit.
-
Brady Skjei CAR D
Hurricanes' Brady Skjei: Supplies assist in Game 3
1h agoSkjei collected an assist in Thursday's 3-2 overtime loss against the Rangers in Game 3.
Skjei has recorded a helper in consecutive contests, bringing him up to seven assists in eight playoff outings this year. This has been his most successful postseason run in terms of personal offensive production. His previous career high in playoff points came in 2017 when he recorded four goals and five points across 12 outings as a member of the Rangers. However, his offensive output hasn't been enough to push Carolina past his former team -- New York has a 3-0 series lead going into Game 4 on Saturday.
-
Arturs Silovs VAN G
Canucks' Arturs Silovs: In goal Friday
3h agoSilovs will be between the home pipes against Edmonton in Game 2 on Friday, Brendan Batchelor of Sportsnet 650 reports.
Silovs was far from perfect in Game 1, giving up four goals on 18 shots (.788 save percentage) but still managed to pick up the victory. In his four postseason appearances, the young netminder is 3-1 with a 2.28 GAA, .908 save percentage and one shutout. If Thatcher Demko (knee) is cleared to play at some point in this series, he will likely supplant Silovs as the No. 1 option in the crease.
-
Sebastian Aho CAR LW
Hurricanes' Sebastian Aho: Picks up assist Thursday
3h agoAho recorded an assist in a 3-2 overtime loss to the Rangers in Game 3 on Thursday.
Aho helped on Andrei Svechnikov's game-tying marker late in the third period, but his efforts ultimately failed to prevent Carolina from falling behind 3-0 in the second round. Although the Hurricanes have come up short against the Rangers, Aho has excelled with six assists through three contests in the series. That gives him two goals and nine points across eight playoff outings this year after setting a career high of 89 points (36 goals) in 78 regular-season games.
-
Dmitry Orlov CAR D
Hurricanes' Dmitry Orlov: On three-game scoring streak
3h agoOrlov registered an assist in a 3-2 overtime loss to the Rangers in Game 3 on Thursday.
Orlov extended his point streak to three games, giving him a goal and two assists in that span. He's up to four points (two markers) in eight playoff outings this year after finishing the regular season with six goals and 26 points across 82 appearances. Orlov is serving primarily on the third pairing without and is seldom used on the power play, but he's getting plenty of work despite that unglamorous assignment -- Orlov has averaged 21:18 of ice time in the 2024 postseason.
