2h agoHarris' trainer said Friday the running back has dropped to around 235 pounds this offseason after playing at 242 during the 2023 season, and that he's increasingly motivated after the Steelers declined his fifth-year option, Kevin Patra of NFL.com reports.
Harris is heading into the final season of his rookie deal with Pittsburgh, so there's no doubt about his motivation to log a productive year and earn sizeable payday for 2025. Playing at a lower weight could help Harris' efficiency metrics, and there's also some reason to be optimistic that he now finds himself in a better scenario than 2023, when he set new career-high marks with eight rushing touchdowns and 4.1 YPC. Rookie first-round pick Troy Fautanu should represent an upgrade to the O-line, and while there are question marks surrounding Russell Wilson and Justin Fields, both have the potential to command a more effective offense than Kenny Pickett did. Harris is capable of handling 20-plus touches but also dependent on volume to produce, making the emergence of Jaylen Warren the biggest threat to his fantasy prospects.

2h agoTagovailoa has reportedly missed most of Miami's team activities this offseason while negotiations on a potential contract extension continue, Alain Poupart of SI.com reports.
Coach Mike McDaniel and GM Chris Grier have both vocally supported the idea of Tagovailoa remaining with the Dolphins long-term, and an extension being penned this offseason, but it sounds like until that's official, the team may not have the quarterback's full participation. That said, Tagovailoa was confirmedly a participant in part of Miami's offseason workouts back in April, with Poupart noting that the team released videos of him throwing on multiple different days. There are no signs that Tagovailoa would consider skipping June's mandatory minicamp, and he himself has downplayed concerns about contract negotiations. As things currently stand, Tagovailoa is set to play out the 2024 season under the fifth-year option on his rookie contract.

13h agoGreenlaw (Achilles) no longer requires a walking boot, Eric Branch of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.
Greenlaw made a public appearance at an event in San Jose and discussed his recovery from Achilles surgery. He has previously said he hopes to be ready for Week 1, and his ability to walk without a boot is a small step in that direction. Greenlaw's level of participation at the start of training camp will be more telling regarding his availability come the regular season.

Flowers suited up for all 17 games with the Falcons in 2023. Now he's signing with his fourth team in as many years. The Jaguars are thin at cornerback behind Tyson Campbell and Ronald Darby, so Flowers could push for a significant role in 2024.

With Jordan Poyer having been poached by Miami and Micah Hyde eyeing retirement, Buffalo is understandably scrambling to restock at safety ahead of next season. Delaney recorded 25 tackles (17 solo) and two interceptions with Tampa Bay last year.

18h agoCleveland waived Diesch (undisclosed) with a failed physical designation Thursday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.
Diesch signed with the Browns on Tuesday, but he's already done with the team after failing a physical. He'll now have to look for another opportunity to make an impression with a different team.

Osvaldo Bido OAK SPAthletics' Osvaldo Bido: Progressing from blister
6m agoBido is making progress in his recovery from a blister that he suffered to his pitching hand during a May 8 spot start against the Rangers, and the Athletics are viewing him as a potential option for the big-league rotation, Martin Gallegos of MLB.com reports.
After turning in a 2.59 ERA and 1.25 WHIP over 31.1 innings at Triple-A Las Vegas, Bido was called up May 8 to make a spot start in the Athletics' doubleheader with the Rangers that day. He was pulled midway through the third inning of the second game of the twin bill after developing the blister and was returned to Las Vegas two days later. Bido hasn't pitched for Las Vegas since, but assuming the blister isn't providing any further complications for him, the right-hander could be an option to rejoin the big club as soon as Friday, when Oakland will have an opening in the rotation for its series opener in Kansas City. Bido served as the 27th man for the doubleheader last week, so he's eligible to be called back up at any time.

9m agoThe Astros will recall Mushinski from Triple-A Sugar Land prior to Friday's game versus the Brewers, Chandler Rome of The Athletic reports.
There's no word yet on what the corresponding move will be, but Shawn Dubin threw three innings Thursday so he is a candidate to be options. Mushinski has been knocked around for seven runs (five earned) over four relief innings during his time in the majors this season.

Porter Hodge CHC SPCubs' Porter Hodge: Spotted in clubhouse
16m agoHodge was spotted in the Cubs' clubhouse prior to Friday's game against the Pirates, Sahadev Sharma of The Athletic reports.
No roster moves have been announced yet, but it would appear the Cubs could be adding Hodge to their bullpen. The 23-year-old holds a 4.80 ERA and 26:12 K:BB over 15 innings between Double-A Tennessee and Triple-A Iowa this season. It would be Hodge's first major-league promotion.

Shane Baz TB SPRays' Shane Baz: Shows improvement in third rehab start
18m agoBaz (elbow) struck out three and allowed one earned run on five hits and two walks over 3.1 innings in the third start of his minor-league rehab assignment Thursday with Triple-A Durham.
After issuing five walks in just 1.2 innings in his second rehab start with Durham, Baz demonstrated improved control. Though he still walked two of the 17 batters (11.8 percent) he faced, Baz spotted 49 of his 69 pitches for strikes. Baz will likely make at least one more rehab start for Durham before the Rays bring him back from the 15-day injured list.

40m agoSuzuki is not in the lineup for Friday's contest against the Pirates.
Suzuki homered Wednesday in Atlanta but is just 6-for-26 at the dish since returning from the injured list. With Paul Skenes on the hill for the Pirates on Friday, a day off for Suzuki makes sense. Cody Bellinger will shift over to right field while Pete Crow-Armstrong handles center and Mike Tauchman serves as the designated hitter.

43m agoHoerner (hamstring) remains out of the lineup for Friday's game versus the Pirates.
It's the fourth straight game Hoerner has been out of the lineup due to tightness in his left hamstring. A stint on the injured list would seem to be a distinct possibility at this point given how much time Hoerner has missed, although there's been no indication from the Cubs yet that a move is coming. Miles Mastrobuoni and Nick Madrigal will again be tasked with middle infield duties for Chicago.

12h agoEdwards notched 27 points (8-17 FG, 4-9 3Pt, 7-8 FT), four rebounds, four assists and three steals in 34 minutes during Thursday's 115-70 victory over Denver in Game 6 of the Western Conference Semifinals.
Edwards bounced back from an ugly outing in Game 5 and led Minnesota in scoring in this pivotal matchup, as he looked far more aggressive than during his previous appearance. Edwards deserves credit for his constant off-the-ball movement as well, as his movements on the perimeter, coupled with the return of Mike Conley from a one-game absence, made things very difficult for Denver on defense. This was Edwards' fourth game with at least 25 points in the series, and he's expected to operate as Minnesota's primary offensive weapon in Sunday's do-or-die Game 7 at Ball Arena.

12h agoMcDaniels notched 21 points (8-10 FG, 3-5 3Pt, 2-2 FT), four rebounds, one assist, two blocks and one steal over 30 minutes during Thursday's 115-70 victory over Denver in Game 6 of the Western Conference Semifinals.
McDaniels is not known for his scoring ability and often gets recognition for his defensive work. Still, he stood out when it mattered the most in this series and finished as Minnesota's second-highest scorer. McDaniels is not expected to hover around the 20-point mark regularly going forward, but this was an excellent showing in a game during which his team needed him to step up. In fact, this was McDaniels' second-best scoring output in the current playoff run, as he scored 25 points in the Game 2 win over the Suns in the first round.

12h agoTowns finished Thursday's 115-70 victory over Denver in Game 6 of the Western Conference Semifinals with 10 points (4-10 FG, 0-4 3Pt, 2-2 FT), 13 rebounds and five assists across 29 minutes.
Towns had a couple of clutch buckets in the early stages of the game, but for the most part, he took a backseat in the scoring column as Anthony Edwards and Jaden McDaniels carried Minnesota offensively in this win. The Timberwolves need Towns to be at his best if they want to have a shot at winning a complicated Game 7 on the road, and for that to happen, he'll need to be even more aggressive on the offensive end of the court, an area in which he hasn't been consistent throughout the series. Towns has reached the 20-point mark in four of the six games he's played in the semis, and the Timberwolves have gone 3-1 in those contests.

12h agoJokic contributed 22 points (9-19 FG, 0-4 3Pt, 4-4 FT), nine rebounds and two assists across 36 minutes during Thursday's 115-70 loss to the Timberwolves in Game 6 of the Western Conference Semifinals.
Jokic delivered one of the best performances of his playoff career in Game 5 of the series, but he was unable to repeat those numbers in this woeful loss despite a respectable stat line. Jokic shot under 50 percent from the field for the third time in the series, and the Nuggets have lost every time that has happened. While the entire Nuggets offense must perform better in a do-or-die Game 7 contest on Sunday, Jokic will be the one who sets the tone early on.

Aaron Gordon DEN PFNuggets' Aaron Gordon: Solid play not enough Thursday
12h agoGordon recorded 12 points (4-7 FG, 2-4 3Pt, 2-2 FT), eight rebounds, four assists and three blocks in 28 minutes during Thursday's 115-70 loss to Minnesota in Game 6 of the Western Conference Semifinals.
The entire Nuggets offense struggled in this game, as shown by the fact the team shot 30.2 percent from the field and 19.4 percent from three-point range in this Game 6 loss. Despite the collective struggles, Gordon found a way to make an impact with his two-way play, and he was also one of just three Denver players who scored in double digits in this loss. Gordon has been arguably the second-best player for Denver in this series, and he'll aim to deliver another strong showing in Game 7 at home on Sunday.

Jamal Murray DEN PGNuggets' Jamal Murray: Shooting woes too much to overcome
12h agoMurray recorded 10 points (4-18 FG, 2-7 3Pt), two rebounds, five assists and one steal over 33 minutes during Thursday's 115-70 loss to Minnesota in Game 6 of the Western Conference Semifinals.
Murray had been the catalyst of the Nuggets offense during this series, but he struggled massively Thursday, though the entire team looked overmatched from start to finish. There's no doubt the offense runs through Nikola Jokic, but it's also not a secret that Denver tends to struggle heavily when Murray is not at his best, and that has been the case in each of the three losses the Nuggets have suffered in this series. Murray will aim to bounce back in Sunday's Game 7, as the Nuggets need him at his best to avoid a monumental upset and keep their hopes of a title defense alive.

Sergei Bobrovsky FLA GPanthers' Sergei Bobrovsky: Starting Friday
1m agoBobrovsky will get the starting nod on the road for Game 6 against the Bruins on Friday, Jameson Olive of the Panthers' official site reports.
Bobrovsky has been solid in each of the last four games, posting a 1.77 GAA and .910 save percentage while going 3-1. The 35-year-old backstop should be able to rely on his offense to close out the series, which is averaging 3.70 goals per game in the postseason, if he can continue to keep the goals allowed at two or fewer.

2h agoMarchand (upper body) will be a game-time decision ahead of Game 6 against the Panthers on Friday, Conor Ryan of The Boston Globe reports.
Coach Jim Montgomery was almost never going to confirm Marchand in the lineup considering we are in the postseason. Fantasy players will have to take a wait-and-see approach, though the fact that Marchand was working with the No. 1 power-play unit Thursday should indicate his availability. If he does suit up, the veteran will be looking to end a six-game scoring streak in order to help the Bruins stave off elimination.

Kurtis MacDermid NJ DDevils' Kurtis MacDermid: Pens three-year contract
2h agoMacDermid agreed to terms on a three-year, $3.45 million contract with New Jersey on Friday.
MacDermid will remain with the Devils after joining the club at the trade deadline this last season. In his 16 appearances for the club, the 30-year-old winger managed just one point to go with 29 hits, two blocks and 50 PIM. The decision to give MacDermid a three-year deal does seem a little surprising when you consider he averaged a meager 4:22 of ice time. Looking ahead to next season, MacDermid probably shouldn't be expected to offer much in the way of fantasy value given his limited minutes and lack of offensive upside.

10h agoDesharnais registered an assist, three hits and four blocked shots in Thursday's 3-2 loss to the Canucks in Game 5.
The helper was Desharnais' first point since a two-assist game versus the Ducks on March 30. The 27-year-old defenseman has added 27 hits, 26 blocks, three shots on net and a minus-4 rating over 10 playoff appearances. He continues to play in a bottom-four role as a physical presence, so his lack of production typically won't have an impact on fantasy competitions.

The helper was Brown's first point in four playoff contests, and he's added two hits and a plus-1 rating. The 30-year-old has been limited to fourth-line minutes, which has given him few chances to contribute. Brown could be at risk of losing his spot in the lineup once Adam Henrique (ankle) is able to return.

Kulak is up to three points over 10 playoff contests after helping out on a Mattias Janmark tally in the first period. The 30-year-old Kulak has provided steady defense from a third-pairing role, adding 17 blocked shots, 13 hits and a plus-1 rating. He's a staple in the lineup, but he rarely contributes much in the way of fantasy-relevant production.
