14h agoHaynes (undisclosed) was waived by the Texans with an injury designation Tuesday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.
Haynes' injury and the severity of it are unknown, but he'll revert to IR once he clears waivers. He'll then either need to reach an injury settlement with the team or be forced to miss all of the 2024 campaign.

Injuries have hampered Stokes' last two seasons, but the third-year pro is feeling good in preparation for the 2024 campaign. The 25-year-old had the fifth-year option of his rookie option denied earlier in May, but a healthy and successful season could help earn him an extension next offseason.

Mallory finished the 2023 campaign sidelined by an injury, but it appears the 2023 fifth-round selection has fully recovered. Although he was able to contribute 18 receptions and 207 yards in 12 regular-season games during his rookie campaign, he faces a crowded tight end room in Indianapolis with the return of Jelani Woods from a Hamstring injury, as well as holdovers Kylen Granson, Mo Alie-Cox and Drew Ogletree.

Nico Collins HOU WRTexans' Nico Collins: Inks three-year extension
14h agoCollins agreed to terms Tuesday on a three-year, $72.75 million contract extension, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
Collins is coming off a breakout 2023 season in which he piled up a 80-1,297-8 receiving line on 109 targets (15 games), and even with Stefon Diggs in town on a one-year deal, Collins represents the future for Houston's wide receiver corps, as does second-year pro Tank Dell. While the addition of Diggs crowds the Texans' target distribution, as does the presence of capable pass-catching options like Joe Mixon in the backfield and tight end Dalton Schultz, this significant monetary commitment to Collins provides a bit of extra incentive for offensive coordinator Bobby Slowik to allow Collins and C.J. Stroud to feature the chemistry they demonstrated last season. If Stroud and the Texans can build off 2023 and hit the ground running, Collins should find himself as a frontman in one of the league's elite passing offenses.

4m agoBenson went 1-for-1 with a walk and a solo home run Tuesday's 7-1 loss to the Cardinals.
Benson produced Cincinnati's lone run, taking a Kyle Gibson four-seamer over the fence to lead off the bottom of the sixth inning. It was the eighth homer of the season for Benson, who also provides fantasy value with eight steals. He was eventually removed for a pinch hitter when a lefty reliever entered, which has been the case in his last four starts.

5m agoBregman went 2-for-4 with a two-run homer in Tuesday's 4-2 loss to the Mariners.
Bregman provided the Astros' lone run support with a two-run blast to left in the fourth off Luis Castillo. It was his first home run since May 14 and just his third extra base hit since then. Despite multi-hit efforts in two of his last three games, Bregman is still hitting just .147 over his last eight games. His struggles have persisted throughout the season thus far, with the 30-year-old now slashing .212/.277/.335 with five homers, 23 RBI, 15 runs and a 19:30 BB:K in 224 plate appearances.

Travis Jankowski TEX RFRangers' Travis Jankowski: Two hits in win
24m agoJankowski started in left field and went 2-for-3 with a double and a run scored in Tuesday's 4-2 win over Arizona.
Jankowski got the starting nod in left after the Rangers placed Evan Carter (back) on the 10-day injured list. Wyatt Langford returned from his own injury -- a hamstring -- and will also be available for the field. Jankowski has been given sporadic playing time in 2024 and is batting .260/.316/.342 with a home run, three doubles, three steals, six RBI and seven runs scored over 79 plate appearances.

28m agoGarcia started in right field and went 0-for-4 in Tuesday's 4-2 win over the Diamondbacks.
This was Garcia's first start in the outfield since missing two games due to a forearm injury. He's gone 3-for-23 (.130) with a home run, a double and two RBI since his return.

Wyatt Langford TEX DHRangers' Wyatt Langford: Starts at DH in return
33m agoLangford served as the designated hitter and went 0-for-3 in Tuesday's 4-2 win over Arizona.
Langford was activated from the 10-day injured list and played for the first time since May 4. His activation to the roster came at the expense of left fielder Evan Carter (back), but Langford was eased in as the DH while Travis Jankowski handled left field.

Eugenio Suarez ARI 3BDiamondbacks' Eugenio Suarez: Produces run in loss
42m agoSuarez batted seventh and went 0-for-2 with a walk and an RBI in Tuesday's 4-2 loss to the Rangers.
Suarez knocked in Arizona's second run with a sacrifice fly in the second inning, just his second RBI over the last 12 games. The third baseman has been grinding with a .182 average and .504 OPS for the month of May. He opened the season as the regular sixth batter in the order but was dropped to seventh against right-handers since the middle of last week.

11h agoConley (Achilles) is available and starting in Tuesday's Game 4 of the Western Conference Finals against Dallas.
Conley has been a mainstay on the injury report, but he has continued to play through his right soleus strain and put up decent numbers. Throughout the playoffs, the 36-year-old is averaging 11.8 points, 5.9 assists, 3.9 rebounds and 1.2 steals, shooting 42.0 percent from the field.

15h agoFontecchio underwent surgery on his left great toe Tuesday, and he is expected to return by the start of training camp, James L. Edwards III of The Athletic reports.
Fontecchio missed the final 14 games of the regular season due to a contusion on his right great toe, but he was a solid performer for the Pistons. The 28-year-old averaged 15.4 points, 4.4 rebounds, 1.8 assists and 0.9 steals in 30.2 minutes, starting in nine of 16 games. The sharpshooter is a restricted free agent, and he will likely garner interest from multiple teams including the Pistons. However, Fontecchio has made it clear that he is interested in returning to Detroit.

Conley continues to deal with a right soleus strain but has played in the Timberwolves' last five matchups. Throughout the series, the veteran has averaged 13.3 points, 4.0 assists, 3.0 rebounds and 1.3 steals in 31.7 minutes. With the Timberwolves' season on the line Tuesday, Conley will likely give it a go once again.

17h agoNesmith logged 14 points (4-11 FG, 1-6 3Pt, 5-6 FT), six rebounds, an assist and a steal over 35 minutes during Monday's 105-102 loss to Boston in Game 4 of the Eastern Conference Finals.
Nesmith posted career highs in every major category this season, putting up 12.2 points, 3.8 rebounds, 1.5 assists, 0.9 steals and 0.7 blocks in 27.7 minutes. After signing an extension at the beginning of the season, the 24-year-old will likely return to the Pacers next season and look to expand his role with the team.

17h agoMcDermott closed with three points (1-1 FG, 1-1 3Pt), three assists, a rebound and a block over 13 minutes during Monday's 105-102 loss to the Celtics in Game 4 of the Eastern Conference Finals.
McDermott was traded to the Pacers early in February and in 28 games averaged 3.1 points, 0.7 assists and 0.5 rebounds in 9.5 minutes. The 32-year-old is set to become a free agent ahead of the 2024-25 season and has played for seven teams in his 10-year career.

5h agoVerhaeghe scored his ninth goal of the postseason in Tuesday's 3-2 overtime win versus New York in Game 4.
Verhaeghe extended his point streak to five games after potting a goal on the power play in Tuesday's win. The 28-year-old also fired four shots on net in 20:04 of ice time. Verhaeghe is up to six points in this series after notching just two points in Florida's second-round series versus Boston. In 15 postseason appearances to this point, Verhaeghe leads the team in goals with nine and is tied for second on the team in points with 17.

5h agoBarkov registered two power-play assists in Tuesday's 3-2 overtime win over the Rangers in Game 4.
After being held off the scoresheet in four consecutive contests prior to Game 3, Barkov now has multiple points in each of his last two games. He had a secondary assist on Carter Verhaeghe's power-play tally in the second period before setting up Sam Reinhart for the game-winning goal in overtime. Barkov also had four shots, three hits and an even plus-minus rating in 22:04 of ice time Tuesday night. The 28-year-old center is tied for second on the team in points so far during the postseason with six goals and 11 assists in 15 contests.

Sam Reinhart FLA CPanthers' Sam Reinhart: Propels Panthers in thriller
5h agoReinhart scored the game-winning goal in overtime in Tuesday's 3-2 win over New York in Game 4 of the series.
Reinhart was the hero in South Florida on Tuesday night -- he buried a feed from Aleksander Barkov to send the series back to New York tied at two games apiece. It was Reinhart's fourth power-play goal of the postseason, three of which have come in the last two games. Reinhart has eight goals so far during the postseason which trails only Carter Verhaeghe (nine) for Florida. Reinhart is also tied for the team lead in power-play goals with four. The 28-year-old is fourth on the team in points during the postseason with eight goals and four assists in 15 appearances.

Igor Shesterkin NYR GRangers' Igor Shesterkin: Otherwordly performance in loss
6h agoShesterkin turned aside 37 of 40 shots on goal in Tuesday's 3-2 overtime loss to the Panthers in Game 4.
Shesterkin was simply phenomenal in Tuesday's loss, but he couldn't carry New York to a two-game series lead. He was beaten on a perfect shot in overtime by Florida's Sam Reinhart after New York had a defensive breakdown leading up to the goal. Shesterkin has been busy during the postseason -- he's faced at least 25 shots on goal in 13 of 14 appearances. The 28-year-old has also seen more rubber in each subsequent game of this series, although the last three contests have gone to overtime. So far this postseason, Shesterkin is 10-4 with a 2.33 GAA and a .925 save percentage.

Sergei Bobrovsky FLA GPanthers' Sergei Bobrovsky: Helps Florida tie series
7h agoBobrovsky made 21 saves on 23 shots in Tuesday's 3-2 overtime win against New York in Game 4 of the series.
Bobrovsky was busy in the first period of Tuesday's win with 13 saves, but he only faced 10 more shots over the final 40 minutes. This was a result of Florida controlling the play over their opponent again -- it's the ninth time in the last 10 outings that Bobrovsky has faced less than 30 shots on goal. The 35-year-old netminder has a record of 10-5 with a 2.31 GAA and a .904 save percentage in 15 postseason appearances. Bob and the Panthers will be in New York on Thursday for Game 5.

12h agoShesterkin is set to start on the road versus the Panthers in Game 4 on Tuesday, Colin Stephenson of Newsday reports.
Shesterkin has won his last two contests after dropping Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Finals. He's now 10-3 with a 2.33 GAA and a .923 save percentage through 13 playoff outings. A win for Shesterkin and the Rangers on Tuesday would put them one victory away from making the Stanley Cup Finals.
