  • Michael Pratt 2005 QB
Packers' Michael Pratt: Joins Green Bay
    2m ago

The Packers selected Pratt in the seventh round of the 2024 NFL Draft, 245th overall.

The Packers likely wanted to jump in front of the priority undrafted free agent game, locking in the Tulane product with their second to last remaining seventh-round pick. A four-year collegiate starter, Pratt won't be mistaken for a run-first option behind center nor does he have a cannon for an arm, but he's a competitive quarterback who has improved his game significantly after just starting to play football for the first time in high school. It's entirely possible Pratt could push out the incumbent Sean Clifford for the team's backup job behind Jordan Love.

  • Solomon Byrd 2005 DL
Texans' Solomon Byrd: Headed to Houston
    6m ago

The Texans selected Byrd in the seventh round of the NFL Draft, 238th overall.

Byrd was a disruptive force in college, splitting his career between Wyoming and USC. In two seasons with the Trojans, he posted a combined 10 sacks and 18.5 tackles for loss across 27 games. That production led to him getting drafted, but he lacks the twitch and speed that would likely be required to excel as a pro. Byrd should have the chance to develop further on a team's practice squad if he can't make the Texans' roster.

  • Michael Barrett 2005 LB
Panthers' Michael Barrett: Carolina snatches in seventh round
    7m ago

The Panthers selected Barrett in the seventh round of the 2024 NFL Draft, 240th overall.

Barrett (5-foot-11, 232 pounds) was a two-year starter on a dominant Michigan defense, but he was more of a caretaker than a playmaker and rarely held any presence in the backfield (just 12.5 career tackles for loss in 35 starts). Barrett's 4.7-second 40-yard dash should be good enough for him to compete for special teams reps on the bottom of a roster, and if he can get his foot in the door then maybe Barrett could eventually pursue defensive snaps in Carolina in due time.

Dolphins' Tahj Washington: Another speedy target in Miami
    8m ago

The Dolphins selected Washington in the seventh round of the 2024 NFL Draft, 241st overall.

Head coach Mike McDaniels certainly has a type. At 5-foot-9, 174 pounds, Washington obviously is a slight figure, but like the majority of the other pass catchers on the Dolphins, he's a blur of speed and urgency as a route runner. A 4.52 40-yard dash at USC's Pro Day puts into question whether Washington's speed will translate to the professional level, but if the Dolphins feel comfortable with it, fantasy managers should too.

Saints' Josiah Ezirim: Goes to the Big Easy in Round 7
    15m ago

The Saints selected Ezirim in the seventh round of the 2024 NFL Draft, 239th overall.

Ezirim is still coming into his own as an offensive tackle. He began his career at Eastern Kentucky playing defensive line before flipping to the other side of the ball in 2022. He turned into a second-team All-American at the FCS level by the time he was done. Ezirim has tackle measurables at 6-foot-6, 329 pounds with 35-inch arms. If New Orleans can develop him, Ezirim could find footing in the league.

  • Myles Cole 2005 LB
Jaguars' Myles Cole: Jacksonville snatches in Round 7
    15m ago

The Jaguars selected Cole in the seventh round of the 2024 NFL Draft, 236th overall.

Cole was remarkably unproductive at Texas Tech and before that Louisiana-Lafayette, but usually a player as athletic as Cole would go much earlier than this. At 6-foot-6, 278 pounds Cole is either a mammoth 4-3 end or an underweight 3-4 end, and wherever he lines up he'll be one of the most athletic players on the field (4.67-second 40-yard dash, 120-inch broad jump). The problem is that he was one of the most athletic players on the field at Texas Tech and Lafayette and still had almost no production to show for it. Cole is all theory, no practice for the time being after logging just 12.5 tackles for loss and 5.0 sacks over 59 career games. It's intensely perplexing that he didn't do more with such great athleticism.

    Twins' Byron Buxton: Resting Saturday
    3m ago

Buxton isn't in the Twins' lineup Saturday against the Angels.

Buxton will sit down for the start of Saturday's contest after going 1-for-5 with an RBI during Friday's series opener. Alex Kirilloff, Austin Martin and Max Kepler will start across the outfield in his absence, and Trevor Larnach will serve as the Twins' designated hitter.

Twins' Jose Miranda: Not starting Saturday
    6m ago

Miranda isn't in the Twins' lineup for Saturday's game against the Angels.

Miranda will catch a breather Saturday after stringing together back-to-back multi-hit performances in his last two games. Kyle Farmer will get the nod at the hot corner instead and bat eighth.

  • Evan Phillips LAD RP
Dodgers' Evan Phillips: Notches eighth save
    7m ago

Phillips gave up an unearned run on one hit and struck out two Saturday to record his eighth save of the season in a 4-2 win over the Blue Jays.

The closer's own throwing error with two outs put Davis Schneider aboard and led to Toronto's final run, but Phillips otherwise had little trouble sealing the victory. The right-hander is a perfect 8-for-8 in converting save chances to begin the season, and he's delivered a dazzling 0.77 ERA and 15:4 K:BB through 11.2 innings.

Taylor isn't in the Pirates' lineup for Saturday's game against the Giants, Andrew Destin of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.

Taylor will sit down Saturday after going 2-for-4 during the Pirates' loss in Friday's series opener. While he rests, Bryan Reynolds, Jack Suwinski and Connor Joe will start across Pittsburgh's outfield.

  • Triston Casas BOS 1B
Red Sox's Triston Casas: Moves to 60-day IL
    21m ago

The Red Sox transferred Casas (ribs) to the 60-day injured list Saturday, Andrew Destin of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.

Casas was diagnosed with a cartilage tear in his left ribcage Friday, and it will officially cost him at least two months as he moves to the 60-day IL. The 24-year-old first baseman was optimistic Friday about returning to the lineup before the end of the season, but there is no telling when that might be, given the wide range of recovery timelines that come with his sort of injury. His roster spot will be given to Garrett Cooper, who was acquired from the Cubs on Saturday in exchange for cash and figures to take over as Boston's primary first baseman while Casas is out.

Pirates' Oneil Cruz: Sitting with injured ankle
    30m ago

Cruz isn't in Pittsburgh's lineup Saturday against the Giants after tweaking his ankle during Friday's game, Andrew Destin of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.

Cruz hurt his ankle after sliding into third base during the ninth inning of Friday's game, and it is apparently bothering him enough to warrant a day off Saturday. While he recovers, Alika Williams will start at shortstop and bat ninth.

Bucks' Damian Lillard: Doubtful for Game 4
    22m ago

Lillard (Achilles) is doubtful for Sunday's Game 4 versus the Pacers,

A report from Shams Charania of The Athletic on Friday hinted at this, but now the Bucks have officially listed Lillard as doubtful on their injury report. Giannis Antetokounmpo (calf) is also doubtful, so the Bucks will need guys like Khris Middleton, Bobby Portis and Brook Lopez to step up offensively.

76ers' Joel Embiid: Questionable for Game 4
    1h ago

Embiid (knee) is questionable for Sunday's Game 4 versus the Knicks.

Embiid has been listed as questionable for every game in this series so far, but he continues to push through his knee issue and his mild case of Bell's palsy that has affected his eye. During Thursday's Game 3 win, Embiid finished with 50 points (13-19 FG, 5-7 3Pt, 19-21 FT), eight rebounds, four assists and one block across 41 minutes.

Bucks' Giannis Antetokounmpo: Doubtful for Game 4

Antetokounmpo (calf) is doubtful for Sunday's Game 4 against the Pacers.

Antetokounmpo has been sidelined since missing the final three games of the regular season. Coach Doc Rivers hinted that Antetokounmpo is ramping up towards a return, but he wasn't optimistic about the forward returning for Sunday.

Bucks' Khris Middleton: Probable for Sunday
    1h ago

Middleton is probable for Sunday's Game 4 against the Pacers due to a right ankle sprain.

Middleton is coming off a 42-point effort in the Game 3 loss on Friday, and the veteran forward has embraced a more prominent role on offense with Giannis Antetokounmpo (calf) sidelined. Middleton is averaging 26.7 points per game in the series while logging at least 35 minutes in each game, and the probable tag suggests he shouldn't have problems handling his regular workload Sunday.

    Stars' Jani Hakanpaa: Not practicing

Hakanpaa (lower body) has yet to return to practice, Lia Assimakopoulos of The Dallas Morning News reports Saturday.

Hakanpaa is likely not an option for Saturday's Game 3 or Monday's Game 4, and if the Stars don't win one of those games, their season is over. Hakanpaa's continued absence will keep Nils Lundkvist in the lineup on the third pairing. Hakanpaa can be considered out indefinitely until he resumes practicing with the team.

Lightning's Haydn Fleury: Won't play Saturday

Fleury (undisclosed) isn't expected to play in Game 4 against Florida on Saturday, per the NHL media site.

Fleury had a goal, five points, 31 hits and 40 blocks in 24 regular-season outings. He hasn't been in the lineup since April 6 because of the injury. If Fleury had been available for Game 4, he might have served as the seventh defenseman or been a healthy scratch.

Lightning's Mikhail Sergachev: Surprise return Saturday
    2h ago

Sergachev (leg) was activated off long-term injured reserve, per the NHL media site, which sets him up to return for Game 4 against Florida on Saturday.

Sergachev was previously ruled out for the entire first round, so this news is a huge surprise. However, Tampa Bay is down 3-0 in the series, so if the defenseman didn't come back now, then it might have been too late. He had two goals, 19 points, 36 hits and 70 blocks in 34 regular-season appearances. While Sergachev typically serves in a top-four capacity, his minutes might be limited in his first contest since February 7.

Vasilevskiy will protect the home net Saturday versus Florida in Game 4, per Chris Krenn of the Lightning's official site.

Vasilevskiy has gone 0-3 this postseason, surrendering nine goals on 94 shots (.904 save percentage). The Lightning need a victory Saturday to avoid a four-game sweep, and the team should get a boost from having Mikhail Sergachev (leg) back in the lineup.

  • Brenden Dillon WPG D
Jets' Brenden Dillon: Questionable for Sunday
    2h ago

Dillon didn't receive any muscle or tendon damage as a result of the skate cut to his hand, which occurred during a scrum at the end of Friday's 6-2 loss to Colorado in Game 3. Although it's great news that he didn't suffer a more serious injury, the 33-year-old defenseman did require stitches and remains questionable for Game 4 versus the Avalanche on Sunday, Mike McIntyre of the Winnipeg Free Press reports Saturday.

Dillon has three assists, four PIM, 12 hits and six blocks while averaging 21:04 of ice time across three playoff contests this year. He also accumulated eight goals, 20 points, 92 PIM, 241 hits and 111 blocks in 77 regular-season outings. If Dillon is forced to miss any action due to the injury, then Logan Stanley will likely draw into the lineup.

Forbort sat out the final 20 games of the regular season and Boston's first three playoff contests. He will be an option to play in Game 4 against Toronto on Saturday, but it wouldn't be surprising if he served as a healthy scratch. The 32-year-old blueliner earned four assists, 22 shots on goal, 65 blocked shots and 68 hits in 35 appearances during the 2023-24 campaign.
