6h agoManning (undisclosed) cleared waivers and reverted to the Panthers' injured reserve list Monday, Mike Kaye of The Charlotte Observer reports.
The severity of Manning's injury is not yet known. The offensive guard will need to reach an injury settlement with the team to potentially play in 2024.

7h agoDorsett signed with the Broncos on Monday after being released Friday, Aric DiLalla of the team's official site reports.
The wide receiver spent 2023 with Denver's practice squad, playing in two games and not catching any of his three targets. The 2015 first-round pick has just 21 receptions over the past four seasons with four different teams. Now he'll get a chance to stick with Denver on a depth chart that includes 12 wide receivers.

The running back signed with New York's practice squad in December and inked a reserve/future contract in January. Patrick last appeared in an NFL game in 2021 with the 49ers.

7h agoPenisini was waived by the Saints on Monday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.
The defensive tackle played in 32 games with the Lions between the 2020 and 2021 seasons but has not appeared in an NFL game since. Penisini was waived from Carolina's reserve/PUP list last August.

9h agoThe Panthers signed Smith on Monday, Joe Person of The Athletic reports.
Smith bounced back and forth between the Vikings' practice squad and active roster over the course of his three-year NFL career, but he's now found a new home in Carolina. The 27-year-old defensive lineman has appeared in four games during his time in the league, recording 11 total tackles while playing 108 total snaps (86 defensive, 22 on special teams). He's expected to compete for a backup role in the Panthers defense as the offseason advances.

Jared Goff DET QBLions' Jared Goff: Lands four-year, $212M extension
9h agoThe Lions signed Goff to a four-year, $212 million contract extension Monday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
The deal contains $170 million guaranteed, and Goff is now the highest-paid player in Lions franchise history. The 2016 No. 1 overall pick of the Rams, Goff was acquired from Los Angeles in the Matthew Stafford haul from the 2021 offseason and has resurrected his career under Detroit offensive coordinator Ben Johnson. In three seasons with Detroit, Goff has completed 66.5 percent of his passes, up from 63.4 percent with Los Angeles, and has thrown for 12,258 yards with a splendid 78:27 TD:INT. He's lowered his turnover rate with Detroit and just helped lead the team to the NFC Championship Game last season. Goff is still just 29 years old and is locked in with the Lions for at least the next few seasons.

8m agoRamos went 2-for-4 with a stolen base and one RBI in Monday's 6-4 extra-inning loss to the Dodgers.
Ramos has gotten steady playing time since Jorge Soler (shoulder) and Michael Conforto (hamstring) landed on the injured list. Ramos has done well so far with three multi-hit efforts, three RBI, four runs scored and a stolen base over six contests while batting .333 (7-for-21). The 24-year-old was once a top prospect who has yet to put it all together in the majors, but he should get a decent audition for more playing time while the Giants' outfield deals with numerous absences.

11m agoPillar went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run and an additional RBI in Monday's loss to the Cardinals.
Pillar knocked in three of Los Angeles' five runs in the defeat, drilling a two-run homer in the third inning and adding an RBI single in the eighth. The veteran went just 1-for-6 through his first three games after joining the club April 30, but he's been on a heater of late, recording three multi-hit performances across his past five games. Over that span, he's batting ..474 (9-for-19) with three home runs, 12 RBI, six runs and a stolen base.

Nolan Arenado STL 3BCardinals' Nolan Arenado: Goes deep in victory
16m agoArenado went 1-for-5 with a solo home run and an additional run scored in Monday's 10-5 victory versus the Angels.
The Cardinals were shut out over six innings before Arenado ignited an eight-run seventh with an inning-opening solo shot to left field. The long ball was just his third of the season and marked only his second extra-base hit over his past seven games. Aside from the lack of power, Arenado hasn't been far off his usual level of production, slashing .268/.327/.386 with 21 RBI and 15 runs through 40 games.

Luis Matos SF RFGiants' Luis Matos: Lifts three-run homer
17m agoMatos went 1-for-4 with a three-run home run in Monday's 6-4 extra-inning loss to the Dodgers.
Matos did his damage early, taking Yoshinobu Yamamoto deep in the second inning. The homer was Matos' first hit over three games this season, and he's added four RBI and two runs scored. The outfielder was slashing a paltry .218/.309/.355 over 31 contests with Triple-A Sacramento prior to his call-up, but he'll have a chance to show what he can do in the majors while filling in for Jung Hoo Lee (shoulder) in center field.

Taylor Rogers SF RPGiants' Taylor Rogers: Stuck with loss Monday
19m agoRogers (1-2) allowed two runs (one earned) on one hit and one walk while striking out two over one inning, taking the extra-inning loss versus the Dodgers on Monday.
Will Smith hit a two-run double off Rogers with one out in the 10th inning, and the Giants were unable to answer it in their half of the frame. Rogers remains inconsistent -- he's given up four runs (three earned) over six innings in May, but he also has a 12:1 K:BB in that span. For the season, he's at a 4.11 ERA, 1.24 WHIP and 21:4 K:BB with three holds over 15.1 innings.

Jose Soriano LAA SPAngels' Jose Soriano: Fires 5.1 scoreless frames
22m agoSoriano tossed 5.1 scoreless innings, allowing two hits and three walks while striking out six batters in a no-decision against St. Louis on Monday.
Soriano allowed just two baserunners through five frames before running into trouble in the sixth, when the Cardinals loaded the bases against him with one out. The right-hander was lifted at that point, and Adam Cimber was able to come to the rescue by inducing an inning-ending double play. As such, Soriano was credited with his second scoreless outing over his past three starts, though he lost an opportunity for a victory due to a late collapse by the Angels' bullpen. Soriano has shown flashes of excellence but has been inconsistent since moving into the rotation April 10 -- in seven starts since that date, he's given up one or zero earned runs on four occasions but has yielded exactly four earned runs in each of the other three starts.

Strus led all players in Monday's contest in threes made while ending as one of four Cavaliers with double-digit scoring and handing out a team-high-tying assist total along with a pair of steals. Strus, who also hauled in seven boards, posted a new playoff high in threes made and notched his second game with 10 or more points in the series against the Celtics.

4h agoGarland accumulated 30 points (12-27 FG, 4-13 3Pt, 2-2 FT), three rebounds, seven assists and two steals over 40 minutes during Monday's 109-102 loss to Boston in Game 4 of the Eastern Conference Semifinals.
Garland led all Cavaliers in scoring while connecting on a quartet of threes, handing out a team-high-tying assist total and adding a pair of steals in a well-rounded Game 4 against the Celtics. Garland, playing with more weight on his shoulders to lead the short-handed Cavaliers offensively, posted his highest scoring total of the postseason thus far. He has recorded at least 14 points and four assists in all four games against Boston in the semifinals.

Caris LeVert CLE SGCavaliers' Caris LeVert: Nears 20 points in Game 4 start
4h agoLeVert ended with 19 points (9-18 FG, 1-8 3Pt), five rebounds, three assists, one block and two steals across 39 minutes during Monday's 109-102 loss to the Celtics in Game 4 of the Eastern Conference Semifinals.
LeVert got the starting nod with the Cavaliers playing without Jarrett Allen (ribs) and Donovan Mitchell (calf), providing a lift offensively while ending one point shy of the 20-point mark in a losing effort. LeVert has been a key player coming off the bench for Cleveland this series, posting 15 or more points in three of the four games against Boston. If Mitchell is able to return for Game 5, look for LeVert to return to the second unit to be a spark off the bench. If Mitchell does miss Game 5, LeVert will be called upon again to step into the starting lineup.

Holiday led all Celtics in Game 4 in threes made while ending as one of three players with 15 or more points to go along with a team-high-tying handful of assists and a team-best trio of steals in a winning effort. Holiday connected on at least four threes for the first time this postseason, and he has now tallied at least 15 points, seven rebounds and five assists in two straight contests for Boston.

4h agoBrown amassed 27 points (9-15 FG, 2-3 3Pt, 7-9 FT), eight rebounds and one assist in 34 minutes during Monday's 109-102 victory over Cleveland in Game 4 of the Eastern Conference Semifinals.
Brown was part of a dominant pairing alongside Jayson Tatum, leading Boston offensively en route to helping the team take a 3-1 series advantage. Brown connected on a pair of threes while ending as one of two players with 25 or more points in the victory, also finishing two rebounds shy of a double-double. Brown has turned his game up a notch over the last two games against Cleveland, posting at least 25 points and eight boards in two straight outings.

4h agoTatum had 33 points (11-25 FG, 2-8 3Pt, 9-9 FT), 11 rebounds, five assists, one block and two steals across 44 minutes during Monday's 109-102 win over the Cavaliers in Game 4 of the Eastern Conference Semifinals.
Tatum did a little bit of everything to lead Boston to taking a commanding 3-1 series lead, pacing all players in Monday's contest in scoring and rebounds while shooting a perfect mark from the free-throw line and adding a handful of assists along with a pair of steals. Tatum has scored 25 or more points in three of his four games against Cleveland, turning things up a notch over the last two contests while posting at least 30 points, 10 rebounds and five dimes in each game.

Roope Hintz DAL LWStars' Roope Hintz: Injured Monday
2h agoHintz suffered an upper-body injury during Game 4 against Colorado on Monday.
Hintz logged just 6:35 of ice time before exiting the contest. He's tallied two goals and six points through 11 playoff appearances after racking up 30 goals and 65 points during the regular season. An update on his status should be available before Game 5 on Wednesday.

5h agoToews (illness) will not be available for Game 4 against the Stars on Monday, Evan Rawal of Colorado Hockey Now reports.
Toews was available at morning skate but ended up being a late scratch for Monday's game. The 30-year-old blueliner has a goal and six points through eight postseason games after posting 50 points during the regular season. Caleb Jones is expected to dress Monday. Toews' status for Wednesday's Game 5 is currently unknown.

Drouin will make his first appearance of the postseason after missing Colorado's first eight games. The 29-year-old recorded a career-high 56 points with 19 goals in 79 games during the regular season. He should slide into a top-six role.

Valeri Nichushkin COL RWAvalanche's Valeri Nichushkin: Back in assistance program
5h agoNichushkin was placed in the NHL/NHLPA Player Assistance Program and will be suspended for six months.
Nichushkin was in the program during the regular season, missing 22 games as a result. Now, he's in Stage 3 of the program and will need to apply for reinstatement after a six-month suspension. He scored 28 goals and 53 points through 54 games this season. Nichushkin also racked up nine goals and 10 points through eight playoff games. With him out, Zach Parise could see a bump in playing time.

Igor Shesterkin NYR GRangers' Igor Shesterkin: Guarding crease Monday
8h agoShesterkin will get the starting nod for Game 5 at home against the Hurricanes, Colin Stephenson of Newsday reports.
Shesterkin was riding a seven-game winning streak to begin the playoffs before Carolina finally beat him in Game 4 on Saturday. He allowed four goals on 31 shots in the loss, the first time this postseason he's allowed more than three. He's registered an impressive .925 save percentage while facing 160 shots this series.

8h agoChytil (illness) will not play Monday against the Hurricanes, Colin Stephenson of Newsday reports.
On top of his illness, Chytil is reportedly also dealing with some soreness that's unrelated to the head injury that cost him nearly the entire 2023-24 campaign. He logged one shot and one hit in 12:02 of ice time during the Game 3 win against Carolina, his first game since Nov. 2. He'll be considered question for Game 6 on Thursday, if necessary.
