8h agoThe Saints signed Patrick (calf) to a one-year contract Sunday, Nick Underhill of NewOrleans.Football reports.
Patrick appeared in 23 games with 20 starts over the past two seasons with Chicago. The 30-year-old was the team's starting center for almost the entire 2023 campaign, but he ended the year on IR due to an unspecified calf injury. While the nature of this issue was never revealed, Patrick now appears to be healthy again. He should now provide depth along the interior of New Orleans' offensive line.

8h agoThe Buccaneers signed Jefferson on Sunday, Greg Auman of Fox Sports reports.
Jefferson was one of 26 players brought in on a tryout basis during Tampa Bay's rookie minicamp Friday and Saturday. The 5-foot-10 running back played at four different schools during his collegiate career, beginning at Maine in 2017. He spent his final two seasons with Kentucky after a standout stint at FCS Sam Houston, where he logged 1,907 yards on 299 carries across two years. However, he finished with just 28 rushes for 184 yards across 11 games with the Wildcats in 2023.

12h agoThe Lions are signing Davis to a contract after he attended rookie camp on a tryout basis, Mike Garafolo of NFL Network reports.
Davis was waived by the Cardinals in late April after spending most of last year on the team's practice squad. He was active for one contest during the campaign but didn't see any snaps. The 25-year-old will get a shot to compete for a roster spot among a WR corps that is headed by Amon-Ra St. Brown and Jameson Williams.

Olumuyiwa Fashanu NYJ OTJets' Olumuyiwa Fashanu: Recovering from quad injury
13h agoFashanu strained his quadriceps while running the 40-yard dash at the NFL Combine and could miss some or all of OTAs due to the injury, Zack Rosenblatt of The Athletic reports.
Rosenblatt described the injury as minor, so Fashanu should be recovered well before the start of the regular season, but the 11th overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft may not be ready to join his new teammates at the start of offseason workouts. The offensive tackle out of Penn State has been working off to the side with trainers during the Jets' rookie minicamp.

1d agoDupree will sign a two-year contract with the Chargers, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.
Dupree reportedly met with both the Falcons and Steelers recently in addition to the Chargers, and it appears that he'll end up with Los Angeles. The veteran edge rusher enjoyed a solid bounce-back campaign with Atlanta last season, recording 39 tackles (his most since 2019), including 6.5 sacks (his most since 2020). Dupree will add to an already formidable Chargers pass rush that also includes Joey Bosa (foot), Khalil Mack and Tuli Tuipulotu.

AJ Parker CAR CBAJ Parker: Waived with non-football injury
1d agoThe Panthers waived Parker with an undisclosed non-football injury Friday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.
The details and severity of Parker's injury are unknown, other than the fact that it did not occur on the football field. The cornerback will now be available to be claimed off waivers should any other teams show interest.

Mike Siani STL CFCardinals' Mike Siani: Swipes bag in win
30m agoSiani went 2-for-4 with a double, one RBI, a stolen base and one run scored in Sunday's 4-3 win over the Brewers.
Siani has slipped into a part-time role since Dylan Carlson returned from a shoulder injury. It appears to have lit a spark in Siani's game -- he's 10-for-21 (.476) over nine games in May. The outfielder is at a .250/.318/.300 slash line with three steals, two RBI, 12 runs scored, one double and one triple through 71 plate appearances this season. The 24-year-old's defense is his best attribute, but none of the Cardinals' outfielders have hit particularly well, so he could gain more playing time if his bat stays warm.

30m agoBuxton (knee) ran the bases at Target Field on Saturday and the Twins are optimistic he can be activated from the injured list on Tuesday, the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports.
The Twins have an off day Monday, but it sounds like Buxton will return when the team begins a series at home Tuesday against the Yankees. Buxton will run again Tuesday to test his knee before the game.

Andres Gimenez CLE 2BGuardians' Andres Gimenez: Lifts homer in win
34m agoGimenez went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Sundays' 7-0 win over the White Sox.
Gimenez had gone 0-for-15 with one walk and a stolen base over his previous four games. He snapped the skid with a fourth-inning solo shot, his second homer of the year. The second baseman is at a .242/.307/.342 slash line with 20 RBI, 20 runs scored and five stolen bases through 38 contests. He's remained in the No. 2 spot in the order versus right-handers since Steven Kwan (hamstring) went on the injured list, but the Guardians haven't gotten much hitting from the trio of Estevan Florial, Brayan Rocchio or Tyler Freeman, who had all gotten looks at leadoff in that span. As such, Gimenez's chances to produce RBI will likely be down in the near term.

42m agoRiley (side) isn't overly concerned with his long-term availability and considers himself day-to-day, Justin Toscano of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.
Riley experienced left side tightness in batting practice Sunday and was ultimately removed from Atlanta's contest with the Mets in the fourth inning after going 1-for-2 at the plate. The third baseman doesn't know if he'll need an MRI or not, which is something he'll make a decision on Monday. With the team launching a three-game home series with the Cubs on Monday, there's a chance that Riley misses some, if not all, of the series as Atlanta will likely be cautious with their talented 26-year-old.

Dany Jimenez OAK RPAthletics' Dany Jimenez: Effective since demotion
1h agoJimenez fired two perfect innings with four strikeouts over his first two relief appearances with Triple-A Las Vegas on Friday and Sunday. He also recorded a save in the latter outing.
It's a small sample, but the decision to demote Jimenez after a couple of uneven outings earlier in May appears to have been a prudent one. The right-hander has breezed through his first pair of appearances for the Aviators, and if he continues on a similar track, Jimenez could soon find himself back on the big-league roster.

Bryse Wilson MIL RPBrewers' Bryse Wilson: Struggles with command
1h agoWilson allowed two runs on five hits and five walks over four-plus innings in a no-decision Sunday. He struck out one in the loss to St. Louis.
Wilson walked home a run in the second inning but managed to hold the Cardinals to one run through four frames. He was knocked out of the contest after coughing up a home run to Paul Goldschmidt and a double to Alex Burleson to begin the fifth inning. Wilson has produced a shaky 16:13 K:BB over his last four starts but owns a 2.21 ERA during that span. He's produced a 2.65 ERA through 34 innings this season. Wilson's currently projected to start in Houston next weekend.

Isaiah Hartenstein NY CKnicks' Isaiah Hartenstein: Suffered minor injury in loss
1h agoHartenstein suffered a minor shoulder injury in Sunday's loss, but he should be good to go for Game 5, Ian Begley of SportsNet New York reports.
Hartenstein was in clear discomfort after taking a fall during Sunday's 121-89 loss to the Pacers, but he was able to continue playing. Following the game, Hartenstein stated he may have pinched a nerve in his shoulder, but reassured that he is fine. The 26-year-old pro finished Sunday's contest with a meager four points (2-3 FG) and five rebounds across 21 minutes.

Murray has been dealing with a calf injury throughout the series and is yet to miss a game, so it isn't surprising to see him shed another questionable tag. After struggling in the first two games of the series, Murray bounced back in Game 3 with a 24-point outing on solid efficiency, and he will look to carry that momentum over to Sunday's matchup.

Caldwell-Pope was deemed questionable ahead of gametime due to a right abdominal contusion, but he will suit up for Sunday's matchup. Battling through the same injury in Game 3, Caldwell-Pope logged 37 minutes, so he should be in for a full workload Sunday.

This was Hughes' third multi-point game of the playoffs, and his first since Game 3 of the first round. The defenseman is up to eight assists through nine postseason outings, and he's added 13 shots on net, eight blocked shots and an even plus-minus rating. Five of Hughes' eight helpers have come on the power play as he continues to see a significant role with the man advantage as the Canucks' top blueliner.

3m agoLindholm scored a pair of power-play goals, added three hits and blocked two shots in Sunday's 4-3 win over the Oilers in Game 3.
Lindholm's first goal tied the game at 1-1, and his tally late in the second period ended up being the game-winner. The 29-year-old has a trio of multi-point efforts and three scoreless outings over his last six contests. He's up to five goals, two assists, 18 shots on net, 27 hits and 12 blocked shots through nine playoff appearances. His goals Sunday were his first power-play contributions in the postseason.

Brock Boeser VAN RWCanucks' Brock Boeser: Leads offense with three points
7m agoBoeser scored twice on four shots, dished an assist, logged four hits, added two PIM and went plus-2 in Sunday's 4-3 win over the Oilers in Game 3.
Boeser set up Elias Lindholm's power-play tally in the first period, then scored the next two goals to put the Canucks in control by the intermission. The 27-year-old Boeser has five points through three games in the second round, and he's up to seven goals, four assists, 22 shots on net and a plus-5 rating through nine playoff outings. The Canucks' offense hasn't really fired on all cylinders yet, but Boeser has been reliable in the playoffs.

9m agoSilovs stopped 42 of 45 shots in Sunday's 4-3 win over the Oilers in Game 3.
Silovs was bailed out by the goalposts a few times, but he was also sharp with the Oilers throwing a ton of pucks his way. The netminder has won four of his six outings in the playoffs, though he's allowed 16 goals in those games. It's unlikely head coach Rick Tocchet will turn away from Silovs for Game 4 on Tuesday, and the net will likely be his until Thatcher Demko (knee) is ready to play.

Brandon Carlo BOS DBruins' Brandon Carlo: Third goal of postseason
1h agoCarlo scored a goal in Sunday's 3-2 loss to the Panthers in Game 4.
Carlo put the Bruins up by two in the first period with an unassisted goal. He threw a fluttering shot from the point that beat Florida's Sergei Bobrovsky over his right pad, but that was the end of Boston's offense for the night. In addition to scoring a goal, Carlo had two shots on net, one blocked shot, two hits and a plus-1 rating in 19:11 of ice time. So far this postseason, Carlo has three goals and an assist to go along with a plus-4 rating in 11 outings.

2h agoPastrnak scored a goal on the power play in Sunday's 3-2 loss to Florida in Game 4.
Pastrnak wired home a one-timer on the power play in the first period for his fourth goal of the postseason. The star winger also had two shots on goal, one blocked shot, two hits and a minus-1 rating in 19:44 of ice time. Pastrnak is up to four goals and four assists with a plus-1 rating in 11 contests during the playoffs. Pasta and the Bruins will look to stave off elimination in Game 5 on Tuesday in Florida.
