Gathings inked a reserve/future deal with Kansas City back in February after being part of the team's practice squad for nearly two months to close out the 2023 campaign. He's yet to play in a regular-season game.

6h agoThompson-Robinson (hip) will undergo an MRI on Monday and is expected to participate in minicamp next week, Mary Kay Cabot of Cleveland.com reports.
DTR suffered a hip subluxation against the Texans on Christmas Eve and was ruled out for the remainder of the Browns' season. His most recent MRI in March revealed progress in his rehab, and Thompson-Robinson is hoping the latest one this upcoming week will allow him to get the green light to do some on-field work with the team's rookies and fellow younger players. The Browns signed veteran QBs Jameis Winston and Tyler Huntley in the offseason, so DTR is facing stiff competition for backup duties behind Deshaun Watson.

7h agoAli (biceps) is participating in some of the Ravens' minicamp drills and is expected to be fully recovered ahead of training camp, Jeff Zrebiec of The Athletic reports.
The rookie fifth-round pick ruptured his biceps tendon at the Senior Bowl back in late January, but the Marshall product is expected to be fully recovered ahead of Baltimore's training camp in August. Ali is poised to compete for a pivotal role in the backfield, as J.K. Dobbins (Achilles) and Gus Edwards are now both with the Chargers and Keaton Mitchell (knee) is still recovering after tearing his ACL in December.

Ravens' Rasheen Ali: Hopeful for training camp
9h agoHead coach John Harbaugh indicated Saturday that he expects Ali (biceps) to be good to go in time for training camp, Jeff Zrebiec of The Athletic reports.
Ali ruptured his biceps tendon at the Senior Bowl, but he was still selected by the Ravens in the fifth round of this year's draft. The intriguing prospect had multiple 1,000-yard seasons with Marshall, but he also missed nearly the entire 2022 campaign due to an MCL injury. When healthy, he projects to compete for a role providing depth in Baltimore's backfield behind Derrick Henry.

1d agoSeattle signed Torrence to a contract Friday, Howard Balzer of GoPHNX.com reports.
Torrence wasn't selected in the NFL Draft in late April but will get a shot to make his case for a roster or practice-squad spot after signing with the Seahawks. The 6-foot-3 defensive back played the final two seasons of college with Arizona State and totaled 37 tackles (including 2.0 sacks) along with an interception in 2023. Torrence allowed just 20 receptions in coverage last season, the lowest total among Pac-12 cornerbacks with at least 300 snaps played in coverage during the regular season.

Austin Gomber COL SPRockies' Austin Gomber: Six scoreless in no-decision
2m agoGomber allowed four hits and two walks over six scoreless innings in a no-decision against the Pirates on Saturday. He struck out three.
Gomber matched zeros with rookie phenom Jared Jones through six in a game that wasn't decided until the bottom of the ninth when Jack Suwinski broke a scoreless tie with an RBI single. Gomber was far less dominant than Jones from a swing-and-miss standpoint with eight whiffs to Jones' 17. Still, it was a quality start, Gomber's second in seven turns this season. He lines up for a tough home start against the Rangers his next time out and should still be handled with extreme caution despite his quality surface stats to date (3.79 ERA, 1.29 WHIP).

3m agoBleday went 3-for-5 with an RBI double, a three-run home run, a walk and an additional run in a win over the Marlins on Saturday.
Bleday was one of several Athletics hitters to put on a lights-out performance in the 20-4 rout, continuing a recent trend of improved play at the expense of the organization that drafted him in the first round of the First-Year Player Draft in 2019. Bleday has now left the yard on three occasions in the last four games, and the three-hit day tied a season best. Bleday also coaxed his OPS to an improving .775 with the prolific afternoon, and he's now laced 13 of his 28 hits on the campaign for extra bases.

Keaton Winn SF SPGiants' Keaton Winn: Can't escape first inning
6m agoWinn (3-4) took the loss Saturday in Philadelphia, allowing five runs on four hits, two walks and a hit-by-pitch over just two-thirds of an inning.
In fairness to Winn, the weather in Philadelphia for this one was nasty and the right-hander never seemed comfortable. Of course, Ranger Suarez pitched in the same conditions and posted a quality start. Still, Winn had been on a roll prior to this one, yielding exactly one run over six innings in each of his last three starts, so this could be just a little bump in the road. His next outing, unfortunately, is tentatively lined up to come at Coors Field.

Brent Rooker OAK LFAthletics' Brent Rooker: Homers twice in third inning
13m agoRooker went 3-for-5 with two home runs and five RBI in Saturday's 20-4 victory over the Marlins.
Rooker became the first Athletics player to homer twice in the same inning since Mark McGwire did it in September of 1996. He did it during Oakland's 10-run third inning Saturday, taking starter Trevor Rogers deep with a two-run shot and then reliever Darren McCaughan over the boards with a three-run blast. He also added a single and a walk. Rooker is up to eight home runs on the season even after going on the injured list last month. Of course, he's also hitting just .240 and striking out at a 36.5 percent rate, but fantasy managers knew what they were getting into with Rooker and should be satisfied with the returns 22 games in.

George Kirby SEA SPMariners' George Kirby: Undergoes MRI on Saturday
15m agoKirby underwent an MRI on his right knee Saturday after being removed early from his start against the Astros on Friday, but the results are still pending, MLB.com reports.
Kirby's night ended Friday after a relatively modest 88 pitches due to the lingering right knee issue, which he conceded after the game he'd been dealing with "for the last couple of weeks." The general feeling after the game was he would be able to make his next start without issue, but manager Scott Servais said Kirby was sent for an MRI "just to make sure we're treating it the right way." Servais confirmed Kirby's arm felt good and added that he still expected the talented right-hander to make his next scheduled start, which is slated for Wednesday at Target Field against the Twins.

20m agoJones did not factor into the decision in Saturday's win against the Rockies. He allowed one hit and no walks while striking out 10 over seven scoreless innings.
The 22-year-old right-hander bounced back from a rather modest showing his last time out, matching his career high with 10 strikeouts. Jones got 17 swings and misses on 96 pitches and touched 100 mph with his heater a couple times. While he has a losing record at 2-3, Jones is off to a historically great start to his career. He became the first pitcher in Pirates history with an outing consisting of seven shutout innings, one hit or fewer allowed, 10 strikeout and zero walks Saturday, and per MLB's Sarah Langs, Jones is the first pitcher since at least 1901 with 50-plus strikeouts and five or fewer walks in his first seven career starts.

41m agoMurray racked up 17 points (6-14 FG, 2-4 3Pt, 3-3 FT), one rebound and four assists over 34 minutes during Saturday's 106-99 loss to Minnesota in Game 1 of the Western Conference Semifinals.
Murray wasn't as strong as we've seen him in the past in Saturday's contest, but he still managed to end three points shy of the 20-point mark while ending as one of three Nuggets with 15 or more points in a losing effort. It will be key to see how Murray, who has been dealing with calf discomfort of late, is able to perform throughout the semifinals and to monitor whether his injury limits him to any extent against a talented Timberwolves squad.

Porter led all players in Saturday's contest in threes made while ending as one of two Nuggets with 20 or more points and adding a half-dozen rebounds in a losing effort. Porter has surpassed the 20-point mark in five straight playoff contests, connecting on four or more threes in three straight games.

45m agoJokic notched 32 points (11-25 FG, 2-9 3Pt, 8-8 FT), eight rebounds, nine assists and three steals in 41 minutes during Saturday's 106-99 loss to Minnesota in Game 1 of the Western Conference Semifinals.
Jokic led all Nuggets players in scoring, rebounds and assists to go along with a team-high-tying trio of steals in a well-rounded performance that nearly resulted in a triple-double in Saturday's Game 1. Jokic struggled a bit from the field but still finished north of 30 points for the third time this postseason and concluded one assist and two boards shy of a triple-double. Jokic has a tough matchup against Minnesota's big men, so it will be key to keep an eye on how he is able to perform against a strong defense in the semifinals.

1h agoReid ended Saturday's 106-99 win over Denver in Game 1 of the Western Conference Semifinals with 16 points (7-11 FG, 2-4 3Pt, 0-1 FT), four rebounds, three assists and one steal in 23 minutes.
Reid struggled over the first three quarters of Saturday's contest but showed up in a big way in the fourth frame, scoring 14 of his 16 points and giving the Timberwolves a boost off the bench in a winning effort. The Sixth Man of the Year ended as one of four Minnesota players with 10 or more points in the road victory, notching his third game of the postseason in double figures in scoring.

Conley led all players in Saturday's Game 1 in assists while ending as one of four Timberwolves in double figures in scoring and as the lone player with a double-double in a winning effort. Conley, who connected on a team-high-tying trio of threes, reached double digits in assists for the first time this postseason, and he has recorded at least 10 points and seven dimes in three playoff outings.

Edwards did it all to lead Minnesota to a Game 1 win on the road, posting a new playoff career high in scoring while leading all players in Saturday's contest in points scored in an offensive showcase. Edwards, who scored 16 points in the first quarter alone and capped the game with 12 points in the final quarter, became the first Timberwolves player to post two consecutive 40-point playoff games. If Edwards can continue to pace Minnesota the way he did in Game 1, the Timberwolves will be in a good position to steal another game on the road in Game 2.

David Pastrnak BOS RWBruins' David Pastrnak: Finishes off first-round series
2m agoPastrnak scored the game-winning goal in Saturday's 2-1 overtime win over the Maple Leafs in Game 7.
Pastrnak dumped the puck back to Hampus Lindholm at the Bruins' blue line, then took off to the races. Lindholm's dump-in banked off the boards perfectly to Pastrnak, who deked around Ilya Samsonov and tucked in the series-clinching goal 1:54 into overtime. The 27-year-old Pastrnak had been called out by head coach Jim Montgomery to step up after going without a point in Games 5 and 6, and he made good on that challenge in a pivotal moment. Pastrnak had five points, 23 shots on net, 19 hits and eight PIM over seven first-round contests.

Hampus Lindholm BOS DBruins' Hampus Lindholm: Key role in Game 7 win
6m agoLindholm scored a goal on six shots and added an assist in Saturday's 2-1 overtime win over the Maple Leafs in Game 7.
Lindholm's tally in the third period provided a quick response to William Nylander's opening goal. In overtime, Lindholm dumped in a pass that caromed perfectly off the boards to David Pastrnak, who deked around Ilya Samsonov for the series-clinching goal. Lindholm concludes the first round with four points, 12 shots on net, six hits, 10 blocked shots and a plus-2 rating over seven appearances. He'll continue to see top-four minutes and will likely be tasked with a shutdown role in the second round against the Panthers.

Jeremy Swayman BOS GBruins' Jeremy Swayman: Claims overtime win in Game 7
9m agoSwayman stopped 30 of 31 shots in Saturday's 2-1 overtime win over the Maple Leafs in Game 7.
Swayman was in net for all four of the Bruins' first-round wins, and he allowed a total of just nine goals over his six appearances versus Toronto. He battled Ilya Samsonov for nearly 50 minutes before William Nylander and Hampus Lindholm exchanged goals midway through the third period. Swayman didn't have to keep it tied for long in overtime, as David Pastrnak tucked home the game-winner 1:54 into the extra session. Swayman has likely earned the opportunity to be the starter in the second round versus the Panthers, who boast an intimidating offense that may make it difficult for the 25-year-old to replicate his first-round results.

Auston Matthews TOR CMaple Leafs' Auston Matthews: Good to play in Game 7
4h agoMatthews (illness) will draw into the lineup for Game 7 versus the Bruins on Saturday, per Jonas Siegel of The Athletic.
Matthews missed the last two games due to an undisclosed injury, according to Emily Kaplan of ESPN, after exiting Game 4 due to an illness. The 26-year-old forward has a goal, three points and 17 shots in four playoff outings this year. Matthews was immensely important to the Leafs' offense during the regular season, providing 69 goals and 107 points across 81 appearances. He should see time on the top power-play unit even though he will start Saturday's contest alongside Pontus Holmberg and Calle Jarnkrok at even strength.
