20h agoThe Saints signed Patrick (calf) to a one-year contract Sunday, Nick Underhill of NewOrleans.Football reports.
Patrick appeared in 23 games with 20 starts over the past two seasons with Chicago. The 30-year-old was the team's starting center for almost the entire 2023 campaign, but he ended the year on IR due to an unspecified calf injury. While the nature of this issue was never revealed, Patrick now appears to be healthy again. He should now provide depth along the interior of New Orleans' offensive line.

21h agoThe Buccaneers signed Jefferson on Sunday, Greg Auman of Fox Sports reports.
Jefferson was one of 26 players brought in on a tryout basis during Tampa Bay's rookie minicamp Friday and Saturday. The 5-foot-10 running back played at four different schools during his collegiate career, beginning at Maine in 2017. He spent his final two seasons with Kentucky after a standout stint at FCS Sam Houston, where he logged 1,907 yards on 299 carries across two years. However, he finished with just 28 rushes for 184 yards across 11 games with the Wildcats in 2023.

Kaden Davis ARI WRLions' Kaden Davis: Joining Detroit
1d agoThe Lions are signing Davis to a contract after he attended rookie camp on a tryout basis, Mike Garafolo of NFL Network reports.
Davis was waived by the Cardinals in late April after spending most of last year on the team's practice squad. He was active for one contest during the campaign but didn't see any snaps. The 25-year-old will get a shot to compete for a roster spot among a WR corps that is headed by Amon-Ra St. Brown and Jameson Williams.

Olumuyiwa Fashanu NYJ OTJets' Olumuyiwa Fashanu: Recovering from quad injury
1d agoFashanu strained his quadriceps while running the 40-yard dash at the NFL Combine and could miss some or all of OTAs due to the injury, Zack Rosenblatt of The Athletic reports.
Rosenblatt described the injury as minor, so Fashanu should be recovered well before the start of the regular season, but the 11th overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft may not be ready to join his new teammates at the start of offseason workouts. The offensive tackle out of Penn State has been working off to the side with trainers during the Jets' rookie minicamp.

Bud Dupree ATL OLBChargers' Bud Dupree: Set to join Chargers
2d agoDupree will sign a two-year contract with the Chargers, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.
Dupree reportedly met with both the Falcons and Steelers recently in addition to the Chargers, and it appears that he'll end up with Los Angeles. The veteran edge rusher enjoyed a solid bounce-back campaign with Atlanta last season, recording 39 tackles (his most since 2019), including 6.5 sacks (his most since 2020). Dupree will add to an already formidable Chargers pass rush that also includes Joey Bosa (foot), Khalil Mack and Tuli Tuipulotu.

AJ Parker CAR CBAJ Parker: Waived with non-football injury
2d agoThe Panthers waived Parker with an undisclosed non-football injury Friday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.
The details and severity of Parker's injury are unknown, other than the fact that it did not occur on the football field. The cornerback will now be available to be claimed off waivers should any other teams show interest.

Bryan Mata BOS RPRed Sox's Bryan Mata: Works two innings in rehab outing
3m agoMata (hamstring) began a rehab assignment in the rookie-level Florida Complex League on Monday and struck out two over two innings while allowing one run on three hits and no walks.
The 25-year-old Mata has yet to make his big-league debut, but because he has no minor-league options remaining, he'll eventually join the Red Sox once he completes what will likely be a lengthy rehab assignment across multiple affiliates. Mata, who is working his way back from a right hamstring strain, has worked almost exclusively as a starter during his time in the minors, but he'll presumably be in store for a low-leverage, multi-inning role out of the Red Sox bullpen upon his return from the 15-day injured list.

14m agoThe Orioles will recall Stowers from Triple-A Norfolk prior to Monday's game against the Blue Jays, Britt Ghiroli of The Athletic reports.
Baltimore has yet to make the move official, but the club could option Heston Kjerstad to Triple-A in a corresponding move. Like Kjerstad before him, Stowers isn't likely to get steady playing time, either, given the Orioles' crowded outfield situation, but getting him regular reps is probably less of a priority than it would be with Kjerstad. Stowers had posted a .315 on-base percentage and 11 home runs across 165 plate appearances with Norfolk this season.

Jack Leiter TEX SPRangers' Jack Leiter: Starting Tuesday versus Cleveland
25m agoLeiter will be recalled from Triple-A Round Rock to start Tuesday against the Guardians.
Leiter has not fared well in either of his first two major-league starts, allowing a total of 11 earned runs with a 6:3 K:BB over 7.2 innings against the Tigers and Athletics. However, with Nathan Eovaldi (groin) and Dane Dunning (shoulder) still on the mend, the Rangers will give the rookie right-hander another shot. Eovaldi seems to have a shot to return later this week, so Leiter could be sent back down again after Tuesday's outing.

Blake Snell SF SPGiants' Blake Snell: Expects another rehab start
1h agoSnell (adductor) expects to make another rehab start before rejoining the Giants' rotation, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.
Snell had a dominant first rehab start with Single-A San Jose on Sunday, throwing an immaculate inning on his way to seven strikeouts across four perfect frames. He touched 97 mph on the radar gun. Snell threw just 46 pitches in the outing but did get in an additional 15 tosses in the bullpen after the appearance. Snell noted that the decision on where he will pitch next will ultimately be made by manager Bob Melvin and the team's medical staff, but the southpaw believes he could use another tune-up against stiffer competition. Snell is tracking toward a return next week.

Jonatan Clase SEA LFMariners' Jonatan Clase: Inconsistent since minors return
2h agoClase owns a .156 average and .311 slugging percentage across the 58 plate appearances he's logged for Triple-A Tacoma since his April 29 demotion.
Clase had posted a .333/.333/.500 slash line over the first 12 games of the Rainiers' season before getting the call up to the big-league club, where he got off to a similarly strong start before tailing off. The subsequent return to Tacoma started off particularly ragged, as Clase went 3-for-33 over his first nine games, albeit with nine walks and five steals, before showing some signs of life in the last three games with two home runs, four walks and another pair of stolen bases. Clase is an elite speed threat who's proven capable of generating above-average walk rates throughout his time in the minors, and although his strikeout rates also tend to get elevated, he could certainly be a consideration for a return to the majors this summer.

2h agoRobles went 0-for-3 and committed an error in Sunday's loss to the Red Sox.
Getting the start in center field and batting ninth, Robles' fielding error in the second inning led to a three-run inning for Boston that proved to be the difference in a 3-2 loss. The 26-year-old outfielder also made a baserunning gaffe in the third, as he attempted to go from first to third on a single even though third base was already occupied by Riley Adams. Robles has started three straight games since coming off the IL, but his job security was low even before Sunday's performance. With Joey Gallo (shoulder) closing in on a return from the IL, Robles figures to find himself on the bench in a short-side platoon role.

2h agoDoncic (knee, ankle) was able to participate in Monday's morning shootaround, Grant Afseth of SI.com reports.
Doncic is carrying a questionable tag into Monday's Game 4 against the Thunder, but there doesn't seem to be any real concern that he will sit out. In Saturday's Game 3 win, Doncic notched 22 points (7-17 FG, 1-4 3Pt, 7-10 FT), 15 rebounds, five assists and two steals across 40 minutes.

Anthony Edwards MIN SGTimberwolves' Anthony Edwards: Strong outing not enough in Game 4
2h agoEdwards finished Sunday's 115-107 loss to the Nuggets in Game 4 of the Western Conference Semifinals with 44 points (16-25 FG, 5-8 3Pt, 7-8 FT), five rebounds, five assists, one block and two steals across 45 minutes.
Edwards carried the Timberwolves on offense in Game 4, and at times, he did the heavy lifting all by himself. However, his impressive stat line was not enough to avoid a second consecutive loss at home. Edwards has scored 40 or more points in three of his last five playoff appearances, including twice in the current series. He'll aim to keep that run going Tuesday in Game 5.

2h agoConley contributed 15 points (5-12 FG, 3-7 3Pt, 2-2 FT), two rebounds, nine assists and one steal across 34 minutes during Sunday's 115-107 loss to Denver in Game 4 of the Western Conference Semifinals.
Conley didn't have his best shooting performance, but the veteran point guard keeps finding ways to contribute even when his shot isn't falling. He's now scored in double digits in three of the four games thus far while dishing out at least six assists each time.

Karl-Anthony Towns MIN PFTimberwolves' Karl-Anthony Towns: Struggles from field Sunday
2h agoTowns posted 13 points (5-18 FG, 1-4 3Pt, 2-4 FT), 12 rebounds, three assists and one steal in 38 minutes during Sunday's 115-107 loss to the Nuggets in Game 4 of the Western Conference Semifinals.
Towns might have ended with a double-double, and his overall stat line looked decent despite the loss. Still, his shooting woes are impossible to overlook, especially in a game where the Timberwolves needed him to provide a spark on offense. Towns needs to be better offensively for the Wolves. Otherwise, he forces players such as Rudy Gobert and Mike Conley to handle bigger roles on offense, and that's not a recipe for success. Towns is averaging 18.5 points per game while shooting 50.9 percent from the field in the series, and he needs to shake off this woeful showing in Game 5 on Tuesday.

2h agoMurray provided 19 points (8-17 FG, 3-7 3Pt), five rebounds, eight assists and two steals over 39 minutes during Sunday's 115-107 win over Minnesota in Game 4 of the Western Conference Semifinals.
Murray drained a half-court buzzer-beater to end the first half and finished just two assists shy of posting what would've been his first double-double of the series. The shooting woes remain for Murray, however, as he's hitting just 40 percent of his field goals so far in the four games against Minnesota, but he seems to be trending in the right direction after scoring 19 or more points in his last two contests.

2h agoJokic ended Sunday's 115-107 win over the Timberwolves in Game 4 of the Western Conference Semifinals with 35 points (15-26 FG, 1-5 3Pt, 4-6 FT), seven rebounds, seven assists, one block and three steals in 39 minutes.
Aaron Gordon had an excellent showing and Jamal Murray made some clutch buckets throughout the game, but Jokic was the engine that kept the team going. For the second game in a row, he came through whenever Denver needed him the most. Jokic is expected to lead the Nuggets as the series returns to Denver for a pivotal Game 5 on Tuesday, and he's averaging 26.8 points, 11.3 rebounds and 8.3 assists per game in the series.

7m agoGeorgiev will patrol the home crease during Monday's Game 4 versus Dallas, Jesse Montano of Guerilla Sports reports.
Georgiev was decent in Saturday's Game 3, turning aside 19 of 21 shots, but he ultimately came away with a second straight loss to the Stars due to insufficient goal support from his teammates. He'll try to help the Avalanche even the series up at two games apiece by picking up his sixth win of the playoffs during Monday's pivotal home contest versus Dallas.

Drouin has yet to play during the playoffs due to a lower-body injury, but he practiced with the No. 1 power-play unit during Monday's morning skate, suggesting he could be closer to probable than questionable for Game 4 against the Stars. He collected 19 goals and 56 points through 79 regular-season contests.

Marchand skated Monday morning and will travel with the team to Florida. He sat out Sunday's 4-3 loss to the Panthers in Game 4 after being injured during Friday's 6-2 defeat in Game 3 of Boston's second-round series. It's currently unclear if Marchand will be available for Tuesday's must-win contest. He has racked up three goals and 10 points in 10 outings this postseason.

Filip Chytil NYR CRangers' Filip Chytil: Status uncertain
1h agoChytil (illness) remains questionable to face Carolina in Game 5 on Monday after coach Peter Laviolette told reporters, "He practiced this morning. That's a real positive thing for our team. I'm going to keep any lineup decisions that I make to myself," per Vince Z. Mercogliano of USA Today.
The fact that Chytil didn't take part in line rushes would certainly indicate that he won't be in action Monday but fantasy players will have to wait until closer to puck drop for official confirmation on the center's status. If he were to be cleared to play, Chytil would likely knock Jonny Brodzinski from the lineup while filling a bottom-six role.

Carson Soucy VAN DCanucks' Carson Soucy: Having a hearing
2h agoSoucy will have a hearing with the NHL Department of Player Safety on Monday for cross-checking Edmonton's Connor McDavid in Sunday's contest.
Soucy was assessed a two-minute penalty for cross-checking McDavid at the 20-minute mark of the third period in Vancouver's 4-3 win over the Oilers in Game 3. The 29-year-old Soucy has four assists, seven shots on goal, nine blocked shots and 27 hits in nine contests this postseason. If he receives a suspension, the Canucks could insert Noah Juulsen, Christian Wolanin, Mark Friedman or Matt Irwin into the lineup for Game 4 on Tuesday.

Frederik Andersen CAR GHurricanes' Frederik Andersen: First goalie off Monday
2h agoAndersen was the first goalie to leave the ice Monday, Chip Alexander of The Raleigh News & Observer reports, indicating he'll be in goal on the road for Game 5 against the Rangers.
Andersen was almost certainly going to get the start after helping the team stave off elimination by stopping 22 of 25 shots in Game 4. Still, the veteran netminder is sporting a lackluster .874 save percentage over his last four appearances. At this point, if Andersen can extend the series again, he should remain between the pipes heading into Game 6.
