Chase Brown CIN RB
Bengals' Chase Brown: Looks set for No. 2 role
28m agoBrown appears primed to work as the top backup to Zack Moss following the 2024 NFL Draft, Paul Dehner of The Athletic reports.
The Bengals didn't select a single running back across 10 picks in the 2024 NFL Draft, so even if the team brings in a handful of talented UDFAs, Brown looks like a notable winner for fantasy purposes. He flashed across 12 appearances as a rookie last season, and while Moss' experience with a large workload and on third downs makes him a clear favorite for the No. 1 role, Brown's short-area burst could make him an effective complementary option. If Brown can put together a solid offseason and push for increased touches, he could be an interesting late-round fantasy sleeper in 2024 drafts.

Zack Moss CIN RB
Bengals' Zack Moss: Looks secure as lead back
35m agoMoss retains his position atop the Bengals' backfield depth chart following the 2024 NFL Draft, Paul Dehner of The Athletic reports.
Moss inked with Cincinnati as a free agent back in March, and though the team will certainly add some UDFAs to the mix, he has to be considered a huge winner for fantasy after the Bengals opted not to spend a single draft pick on the running back position. Coming off a breakout season with the Colts, Moss looks primed for a high-volume role considering his experience between the tackles and on third downs, while Chase Brown could act as a more explosive complement out of the backfield. Both could be intriguing fantasy sleepers in 2024 drafts.

Miles Sanders CAR RB
Panthers' Miles Sanders: Joined by rookie second-rounder
45m agoSanders faces competition from rookie second-round pick Jonathon Brooks (knee) for backfield work during the 2024 season, Joseph Person of The Athletic reports.
Sanders was overtaken by Chuba Hubbard down the stretch of the 2023 season, in which he logged a career-low 129 carries for 432 yards (3.3 YPC) and one touchdown, so the arrival of Brooks could significantly impact his opportunities. First-year coach Dave Canales said the Panthers plan to deploy all three backs, and Brook is working his way back from an ACL tear, so to begin the year Sanders' primary competition for touches could be Hubbard. It's easy to imagine a scenario, though, where Brooks earns himself a more solidified role atop the depth chart once fully healthy.

Conor McDermott NE OT
Conor McDermott: Cut by Pats
1h agoNew England released McDermott (head) on Monday.
McDermott started five games at left tackle for the Patriots in 2023, but after adding Chukwuma Okorafor in free agency, New England has opted to let go of McDermott. He'll now have to look for another opportunity with a new team.

Aidan O'Connell LV QB
Raiders' Aidan O'Connell: Remains set for QB battle
1h agoO'Connell remains in position to compete with Gardner Minshew for the starting job this offseason, after the Raiders refrained from selecting a rookie quarterback in the 2024 NFL Draft, Mark Anderson of the Associated Press reports.
Las Vegas was an oft-theorized candidate to add a quarterback in April's draft, but six signal-callers ultimately went off the board before the team's first-round selection at No. 13 overall, which became playmaking tight end Brock Bowers. The team invested second- and third-round selections in offensive linemen Jackson Powers-Johnson and Delmar Glaze, putting whoever wins the 2024 starting gig in a better position for success. O'Connell completed 213 of 343 pass attempts for 2,218 yards, 12 touchdowns and seven interceptions across 10 starts last season, solid rookie numbers for a fourth-round pick, but Minshew boasts enough experience that this offseason should play out as a true competition.

Gardner Minshew LV QB
Raiders' Gardner Minshew: Avoids draft competition
1h agoMinshew remains poised to compete with Aidan O'Connell for the starting job this offseason, with the Raiders not having added to the quarterback position in the 2024 NFL Draft, Mark Anderson of the Associated Press reports.
Minshew joined Las Vegas early in free agency back in March, and while it looked like the team was a candidate to add rookie competition via April's draft, six quarterbacks came off the board before the Raiders' first-round selection of tight end Brock Bowers at No. 13 overall. Las Vegas also boosted the O-line with premium picks, selecting second-round guard Jackson Powers-Johnson and third-round tackle Delmar Glaze, so whichever of Minshew or O'Connell ultimately wins the starting role looks to be in a notably better position to succeed.

Matt Manning DET SP
Tigers' Matt Manning: Could serve as 27th man Tuesday
7m agoManning is a candidate to serve as the 27th man and start one of the games of the Tuesday's doubleheader against the Cardinals, Evan Woodbery of MLive.com reports.
Manning is on turn at Triple-A Toledo, so he's an obvious option to start that day for the big club instead. It would be his third start in the majors this season after he allowed four runs with a 10:6 K:BB in 12.1 innings covering his first two outings. If Manning does indeed start Tuesday, Jack Flaherty will likely have his start pushed back to Wednesday.
-
Tobias Myers MIL RP
Brewers' Tobias Myers: Staying in rotation
27m agoBrewers manager Pat Murphy said Monday that Myers will remain in the rotation, Todd Rosiak of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.
Myers has held his own in two starts for the Brewers, allowing three runs with a 9:1 K:BB over 10 innings. With DL Hall (knee) and Jakob Junis (shoulder) still out and Wade Miley (elbow) done for the season the club didn't have much of a choice in giving Myers at least one more turn. He's tentatively lined up to start in Chicago against the Cubs this weekend.

Steven Matz STL SP
Cardinals' Steven Matz: Cardinals-Tigers postponed
32m agoMatz and the Cardinals won't play Monday against the Tigers after the game was postponed due to inclement weather in Detroit.
The game will be made up as part of a traditional doubleheader Tuesday. As a result of the postponement, Matz will likely just be pushed back one day in the pitching schedule to start one half of Tuesday's twin bill.
-
Kenta Maeda DET SP
Tigers' Kenta Maeda: Cardinals-Tigers rained out Monday
35m agoMaeda and the Tigers won't play Monday against the Cardinals after the game was postponed due to inclement weather in Detroit.
The game will be made up as part of a traditional doubleheader Tuesday. Maeda will presumably just be pushed back a day in the Tigers' pitching schedule to start one of the two games of the twin bill.

Cade Cavalli WAS SP
Nationals' Cade Cavalli: Touches 98 mph in live BP
38m agoNationals manager Dave Martinez said that Cavalli (elbow) sat at 96 mph and touched 98 mph in a live batting practice session Monday, Spencer Nusbaum of the Washington Post reports.
Martinez came away impressed with how the right-hander looked, saying Cavalli threw the ball "really well." Cavalli would appear to be nearing a rehab assignment, although he might be asked to throw another live BP or two first. He's coming back from Tommy John surgery and could be an option for the Nationals' rotation by June.
-
Victor Robles WAS CF
Nationals' Victor Robles: Ready for rehab assignment
41m agoRobles (hamstring) will begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Rochester on Tueday, Spencer Nusbaum of the Washington Post reports.
Robles has been sidelined for most of April with a left hamstring strain but has progressed enough to test things out in a game setting. The plan is for him to see action both at designated hitter and in the outfield for Rochester. Jacob Young has played well for the Nationals in center field and might keep the starting job there even after Robles returns.
-
Bojan Bogdanovic NY SF
Knicks' Bojan Bogdanovic: Out for Game 5
1m agoBogdanovic (foot) has been ruled out for Tuesday's Game 5 against the 76ers, Fred Katz of The Athletic reports.
Bogdanovic has been playing through ligament damage in his left wrist during the opening-round series, but he suffered a left foot contusion during his first stint on the court during New York's Game 4 win and was ruled out for the remainder of the contest. In Bogdanovic's absence, Miles McBride and Precious Achiuwa are candidates for a few extra minutes.
-
Joel Embiid PHI C
76ers' Joel Embiid: Listed questionable for Tuesday
4h agoEmbiid is questionable for Tuesday's Game 5 against the Knicks due to left knee injury recovery.
Embiid has averaged 35.0 points, 9.0 rebounds, 5.5 assists, 1.3 steals and 1.0 blocks in 40.3 minutes over the first four games of the opening-round series. However, the reigning MVP, who missed two months during the regular season after undergoing meniscus surgery, continues to be listed as questionable and has struggled in every fourth quarter thus far. With the 76ers facing elimination in New York on Tuesday, it'd be shocking if Embiid didn't suit up.

Delon Wright MIA SG
Heat's Delon Wright: Cleared to play Monday
6h agoWright (personal) is available for Monday's Game 4 against the Celtics, Anthony Chiang of the Miami Herald reports.
As expected, Wright, who missed Miami's Game 3 loss for the birth of his daughter, has been upgraded from probable to available. In Game 1, Wright posted 17 points, three assists and two steals in 26 minutes off the bench, but he was a non-factor in Game 2.
-
Jusuf Nurkic PHO C
Suns' Jusuf Nurkic: Nearly double-doubles
6h agoNurkic provided nine points (3-5 FG, 3-4 FT), eight rebounds, five assists, one block and two steals over 20 minutes during Sunday's 122-116 loss to the Timberwolves in Game 4 of the first round of the Western Conference playoffs.
Nurkic was very inconsistent in the first round against the Timberwolves, which was the case for most of the team, to be fair. Overall, Nurkic had a solid regular season campaign for Phoenix, averaging 10.9 points, 11.0 rebounds, 4.0 assists, 1.1 blocks and 1.1 steals. Nurkic will remain under contract for two more seasons.
-
Bradley Beal PHO SG
Suns' Bradley Beal: Ineffective in Game 4 loss
6h agoBeal posted nine points (4-13 FG, 1-5 3Pt), one rebound, two assists and one block over 31 minutes before fouling out of Sunday's 122-116 loss to Minnesota in Game 4 of the first round of the Western Conference playoffs.
This was Beal's worst game of the playoffs, and it resulted in the Suns getting swept by the Timberwolves in the first round. For the fifth straight campaign, Beal was unable to eclipse 60 games and struggled with injuries. He ended up making 53 appearances in his first season with the Suns, posting averages of 18.2 points, 5.0 assists, 4.4 rebounds, 1.0 steals and 1.9 three-pointers.
-
Kevin Durant PHO PF
Suns' Kevin Durant: Plays well in Game 4 loss
6h agoDurant supplied 33 points (12-17 FG, 2-3 3Pt, 7-9 FT), nine rebounds, five assists and four blocks over 46 minutes during Sunday's 122-116 loss to the Timberwolves in Game 4 of the first round of the Western Conference playoffs.
With the Suns dropping Game 4, they were swept by the Timberwolves and will fall short of their hefty expectations. According to Shams Charania of The Athletic, Durant had "persistent issues" with the offense and felt as if he was relegated to the corner too often. It will be an interesting offseason for Phoenix, to put it mildly. Durant finished the regular season with averages of 27.1 points, 6.6 rebounds, 5.0 assists, 1.2 blocks, 0.9 steals and 2.2 three-pointers.
-
Lucas Johansen WAS D
Capitals' Lucas Johansen: Back in AHL
5m agoJohansen was assigned to AHL Hershey on Monday.
Johansen will get an opportunity to play for the Bears in the AHL postseason after suiting up in two playoff contests during Washington's first-round exit versus the Rangers. The 26-year-old blueliner had two goals and 12 points in 22 AHL outings during the 2023-24 regular season.
-
Vincent Iorio WAS D
Capitals' Vincent Iorio: Dropped to AHL
11m agoIorio (upper body) was loaned to AHL Hershey on Monday.
Iorio sat out three straight contests to conclude Washington's first-round series loss to the Rangers. Assuming he's healthy, which his demotion suggests, he should get a chance to play for the Bears in the AHL playoffs. The 21-year-old defender had four goals and 14 points in 60 minor-league appearances during the 2023-24 regular season.
-
Ivan Miroshnichenko WAS LW
Capitals' Ivan Miroshnichenko: Sent down to minors
17m agoMiroshnichenko was reassigned to AHL Hershey on Monday.
Miroshnichenko will get to play for the Bears in the AHL playoffs following Washington's first-round elimination at the hands of the Rangers on Sunday. The 20-year-old forward had nine goals and 25 points in 47 minor-league outings during the 2023-24 regular season.
-
Hendrix Lapierre WAS C
Capitals' Hendrix Lapierre: Returned to minors
24m agoLapierre was reassigned to AHL Hershey on Monday.
Lapierre scored just once in his last 19 outings while chipping in eight helpers and 20 shots on goal. The 22-year-old center played in 51 regular-season contests for the Capitals this year and should be a full-time NHL option heading into the 2024-25 campaign. With a full 82-game season, Lapierre is certainly capable of pushing for both the 20-goal and 40-point thresholds.
-
Joel Kiviranta COL LW
Avalanche's Joel Kiviranta: Traveling with team
3h agoKiviranta (lower body) will make the trip to Winnipeg ahead of Tuesday's Game 5 versus the Jets, Aarif Deen of Mile High Sports reports.
Kiviranta missed Sunday's Game 4 win over the Jets due to a lower-body issue, but it appears he could be available for Game 5. The 28-year-old winger has picked up one helper and a plus-2 rating through three playoff games this year.
-
Logan Thompson LV G
Golden Knights' Logan Thompson: First off ahead of Game 4
4h agoThompson was the first goalie off the ice at the morning skate, per Danny Webster of the Las Vegas Review-Journal, indicating he will patrol the home crease Monday in Game 4 against Dallas.
Thompson is coming off a 43-save performance in Saturday's 3-2 overtime loss to the Stars in Game 3. He has stopped 89 of 96 shots in Vegas' first-round series en route to a 2-1 record.
