1h agoThe Bills are slated to sign Valdes-Scantling to a one-year contract worth up to $4.5 million Tuesday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
Valdes-Scantling was released by the Chiefs back in February, and he now lands with another AFC powerhouse. Buffalo's revamped wide receiver corps, which lost Stefon Diggs via trade and Gabe Davis to free agency, could use a deep threat to complement Khalil Shakir, Curtis Samuel and rookie second-round pick Keon Coleman. Working as the No. 4 man on the depth chart could be an ideal situation for Valdes-Scantling to contribute, though if utilized only as a situation downfield target, he's more likely to slightly raise Josh Allen's ceiling than carry standalone value. Across 16 regular-season games last year, the 29-year-old compiled a career-low 21-315-1 receiving line.

The severity of Manning's injury is not yet known. The offensive guard will need to reach an injury settlement with the team to potentially play in 2024.

17h agoDorsett signed with the Broncos on Monday after being released Friday, Aric DiLalla of the team's official site reports.
The wide receiver spent 2023 with Denver's practice squad, playing in two games and not catching any of his three targets. The 2015 first-round pick has just 21 receptions over the past four seasons with four different teams. Now he'll get a chance to stick with Denver on a depth chart that includes 12 wide receivers.

The defensive tackle played in 32 games with the Lions between the 2020 and 2021 seasons but has not appeared in an NFL game since. Penisini was waived from Carolina's reserve/PUP list last August.

15m agoMcCormick (hamstring) is scheduled to play in the outfield for the next two games with Double-A Corpus Christi, MLB.com reports.
McCormick served as the designated hitter with Triple-A Sugar Land on Sunday in his first rehab appearance, and he'll now progress to playing full games in the outfield. Assuming that goes well, there's a strong chance he'll be activated for the Astros' weekend series against Milwaukee.

Alvarez extended his hitting streak to five games with the performance, four of which have multi-hit efforts. He's scored four runs in that span and also driven in two. The strong stretch has also brought his batting average up to .264 across 180 plate appearances on the season and that mark should continue to rise as the campaign progresses.

26m agoDoyle went 0-for-3 with a walk, a stolen base and a run scored Monday against the Padres.
Doyle was unable to extend a modest five-game hitting streak, but he was still impactful by tallying his eighth stolen base of the year. He's also stolen a base in each of his last four games, displaying a significant increase in aggressiveness on the basepaths. Doyle is hitting .283 with 25 runs scored across 160 plate appearances on the season.

36m agoSmith (shoulder) is slated to be activated from the 15-day injured list Wednesday, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.
Smith is done with his rehab as he comes back from right shoulder inflammation. He had been slated to return Tuesday, but the Mets have elected to hold him back one more day. Smith has posted a 2.70 ERA and 11:7 K:BB over 10 relief innings this season.

39m agoPhillies manager Rob Thomson said Realmuto (knee) did some work on the field and in the batting cage pregame Tuesday, Matt Gelb of The Athletic reports.
Thomson noted that Realmuto's right knee is feeling better, but the skipper was not ready to commit to the catcher returning to the lineup Wednesday. Realmuto is missing a third straight start Tuesday. Garrett Stubbs has been filling in behind the plate for the Phils.

Montero returned to the lineup after a two-game absence, as he sat in favor of Hunter Goodman. Montero has been in a significant slump, going just 7-for-36 with a 27 percent strikeout rate across 11 contests in May. It's possible he'll continue to lose at-bats to Goodman in the short term, and he will also face additional challenges for playing time when Kris Bryant (back) is able to return.

1h agoIrving posted nine points (4-11 FG, 0-2 3Pt, 1-2 FT), one rebound and nine assists in 41 minutes during Monday's 100-96 loss to the Thunder in Game 4 of the Western Conference Semifinals.
The Mavericks have welcomed the emergence of P.J. Washington in the series against the Thunder, as Kyrie Irving has struggled badly so far. He's now failed to score in double digits in two of the four games of the series and is shooting a mere 35.7 percent from three-point range. Irving needs to take on a bigger role on offense if the Mavericks want to move to the Western Conference Finals, especially considering how banged up Luka Doncic is.

1h agoDoncic provided 18 points (6-20 FG, 2-9 3Pt, 4-6 FT), 12 rebounds, 10 assists, one block and two steals over 42 minutes during Monday's 100-96 loss to Oklahoma City in Game 4 of the Western Conference Semifinals.
On the surface, Doncic's final stat line looks good, as he posted his second triple-double of the postseason and made his presence felt on the defensive end. However, the star guard is battling with several injuries, and he looked a step slow in some sequences, as well as being extremely inefficient with his shot. Doncic is averaging 22.0 points, 10.8 rebounds and 7.8 assists per game in the series against the Thunder, and the decrease in the scoring column is directly tied to the fact he's shooting a mere 39 percent from the floor. He'll aim to bounce back in Game 5 on Wednesday.

1h agoWashington accumulated 21 points (7-19 FG, 5-11 3Pt, 2-4 FT), 12 rebounds and one block over 41 minutes during Monday's 100-96 loss to the Thunder in Game 4 of the Western Conference Semifinals.
The Mavericks failed to protect their home court and had to settle for a tough loss in Game 4, but one of the few positives in Monday's loss was that Washington continues to perform well even when he commands more attention from the opposing defenses. Washington has been Dallas' second-best player in this series, reaching the 20-point mark in three straight appearances and recording two double-doubles in the series. Game 5 is scheduled for Wednesday at Oklahoma City.

1h agoHolmgren ended Monday's 100-96 win over Dallas in Game 4 of the Western Conference Semifinals with 18 points (6-9 FG, 1-2 3Pt, 5-6 FT), nine rebounds, four blocks and one steal over 40 minutes.
Holmgren stepped his game up on a night where Jalen Williams struggled with his shot, and the star rookie made his presence felt on both ends of the court, showing efficiency in his touch near the rim and being his usual disruptive self on the defensive end. Holmgren is averaging 15.3 points, 7.5 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 3.3 blocks per game in the series against Dallas. Game 5 is scheduled for Wednesday in OKC.

1h agoWilliams totaled 14 points (5-19 FG, 0-2 3Pt, 4-4 FT), nine rebounds, six assists and four steals across 41 minutes during Monday's 100-96 win over the Mavericks in Game 4 of the Western Conference Semifinals.
Williams didn't have his best shooting performance, and his numbers regressed a bit compared to what he'd been doing in the previous contests, but his role as the Thunder's second-best offensive weapon is firmly established ahead of Chet Holmgren, which should give him an excellent floor in most DFS slates. Williams is averaging 19.1 points per game in eight playoff contests this season, but it's worth noting this was his worst scoring performance since the postseason started.

Despite dealing with one of the best backcourt combos in the NBA in Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving, Gilgeous-Alexander continues to deliver outstanding numbers every time he steps into the hardwood. He surpassed the 30-point threshold in just one of the four games in the opening-round series against the Pelicans, but he's been asked to do more this time around, and he's now on a run of three straight outings with 30-plus points. He's averaging 31.8 points, 9.8 rebounds and 7.0 assists per game in the series against Dallas, with Game 5 scheduled for Wednesday at Paycom Center.

6m agoNecas scored a goal and added an assist in Monday's 4-1 over the Rangers in Game 5.
Necas had a secondary helper on Jordan Martinook's third-period tally before scoring an empty-net goal in Monday's win. It's the first time since Game 1 of Carolina's first-round series against the Islanders that Necas registered two points in a game. The 25-year-old forward also had two shots on goal to go along with a plus-2 rating in 15:56 of ice time. Necas is up to three goals and five assists in 10 contests so far this postseason.

13m agoBobrovsky will patrol the home crease in Game 5 versus the Bruins on Tuesday, Jameson Olive of the Panthers' official site reports.
Bobrovsky hasn't been at his best versus the Bruins, posting an .885 save percentage through the first four games of the series, but he's still gone 3-1 over that stretch thanks to fantastic goal support from his teammates. He'll attempt to secure a fourth straight win over Boston and punch Florida's ticket to the Eastern Conference Finals on home ice Tuesday.

16m agoDrury registered two even-strength assists in Monday's 4-1 win over the Rangers in Game 5.
Drury had the primary helper on Jordan Martinook's third-period tally that put Carolina up by two. Drury also added a secondary helper on Martin Necas' empty-net goal that sealed the win for the Hurricanes. It was the first two points of the series for Drury and also his first multi-point outing of the postseason. In addition, the 24-year-old had three shots, two blocks, two hits and a plus-2 rating in 10:28 of ice time. Drury is up to one goal and four assists with a plus-6 rating in 10 contests so far this postseason.

25m agoMarchand (upper body) won't be available for Game 5 versus the Panthers on Tuesday, Steve Conroy of the Boston Herald reports.
Although Marchand won't be available for the must-win Game 5, he was on the ice for Tuesday's morning skate, suggesting there's a chance he could be available for Game 6 on Friday if the Bruins are able to stave off elimination. Marchand's racked up three goals and 10 points through 10 games this postseason.

30m agoStaal scored the game-tying goal in Monday's 4-1 win over the Rangers in Game 5.
Staal scored his first goal of the postseason in Monday's win -- he drove towards the net and beat New York's Igor Shesterkin on the backhand early in the third period. Staal also registered three shots, three hits, three blocks and a plus-1 rating in 14:56 of ice time. So far this postseason, Staal is up to one goal and one assist with a plus-4 rating in 10 total contests.

39m agoShesterkin stopped 24 of 27 shots in Monday's 4-1 loss against Carolina in Game 5.
Shesterkin had a shutout bid going into the third period but Carolina scored four goals in the final frame. The Rangers played conservatively after having a 1-0 lead in the third period and Shesterkin couldn't bail out his teammates as a result. The 28-year-old netminder now has losses in consecutive games after seven straight victories to start the postseason. He's 7-2 with a 2.33 GAA and a .924 save percentage in the playoffs. Shesterkin and the Rangers will be in Carolina on Thursday for Game 6 of the second-round series.
