Gabe Davis JAC WRJaguars' Gabe Davis: Still working back from injury
2m agoCoach Doug Pederson said Friday that Davis (knee) is dealing an injury and hasn't been able to do much on-field work since signing with the Jaguars, Demetrius Harvey of The Florida Times-Union reports.
Pederson said Davis, who missed the playoffs last season due to a knee injury suffered Week 18 against the Dolphins, continues to recover from an injury from 2023. He then said the Jaguars' wide receiver picture will become clearer in OTAs. It doesn't sound like there's any real concern about Davis' availability, but fantasy managers would certainly prefer to hear he gets back on the field and starts establishing a rapport with Trevor Lawrence sooner than later. Even with both Calvin Ridley and Zay Jones no longer in Jacksonville, Christian Kirk and rookie first-round pick Brian Thomas represent significant competition for target volume.

Isaiah Williams 2005 WRLions' Isaiah Williams: Gets chance in Detroit
2h agoThe Lions signed Williams as an undrafted free agent Friday, Tim Twentyman of the team's official site reports.
Williams is undersized at 5-9, 179 pounds, but as Twentyman notes, he was productive at Illinois with over 200 catches 200 for 2,295 and 14 touchdowns over the last three seasons. He now gets an opportunity to compete for a depth role with Detroit.

10h agoDeaton (knee) was waived by the Browns with a failed physical designation Thursday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.
Deaton suffered a torn ACL in August of 2022 and is apparently still recovering from the issue. He'll first aim to get healthy and then search for a new opportunity around the league.

Wagner signed with the Raiders as an undrafted free agent in 2023 but went down with a season-ending injury late in training camp. The issue wasn't disclosed, but he's back at full strength heading into 2024.

Brown played in six games as a rookie in 2022, serving exclusively on special teams. His 2023 campaign ended abruptly after he was placed on injured reserve with an undisclosed issue at the close of training camp, but he'll seemingly enter the new campaign without any lingering issues.

1h agoBlack is scheduled to start Saturday's game against the Reds in San Francisco.
Black was touched up for five earned runs on eight hits and three walks over 4.1 innings in his MLB debut versus the Phillies on Monday, but he'll get at least one more chance to prove he belongs in the San Francisco rotation. The matchup with a Reds offense that ranks in the bottom five of the majors this season with an 80 wRC+ is a far more favorable one than the potent Phillies lineup he faced Monday, and Black will also have the luxury of taking the hill in the pitcher-friendly confines of Oracle Park.

1h agoHoskins went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in Thursday's win over the Cardinals.
Hoskins increased Milwaukee's lead to three runs in the bottom of the first with a two-run shot off Sonny Gray, giving the first baseman his eighth home run of the season. He's also homered in back-to-back games now, though Hoskins is still batting just .154 for the month and hasn't recorded multiple hits since April 26 against the Yankees.

1h agoGarcia went 3-for-5 with two doubles, two RBI and two runs scored in Thursday's win over the Angels.
Garcia singled in the top of the third before coming around to score on a Vinnie Pasquantino home run and later added two doubles to give him his first three-hit performance of the season. The third baseman has now hit safely in four consecutive games and in six of eight games to open this month, tallying four RBI and four runs scored over that latter stretch. However, he hasn't stolen a base since April 30.

Jameson Taillon CHC SPCubs' Jameson Taillon: No longer starting Friday
2h agoTaillon won't start Friday in Pittsburgh, as the Cubs list Javier Assad as the starter for the series opener versus the Pirates, Maddie Lee of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.
The Cubs had previously listed Taillon as their probable starter for Friday, so the late change perhaps hints that the right-hander may be tending to an injury. The decision to have Assad take the hill for the series opener wouldn't seem to be the result of any dissatisfaction with Taillon's performance, as the 32-year-old has opened his second season with the Cubs with a 3-0 record, 1.13 ERA and 0.88 WHIP over 24 innings. Justin Steele will take the hill on four days' rest to start Saturday, while the Cubs are listing their starter for Sunday's series finale as "TBA." More clarity on the Cubs' plans for Sunday -- as well as when Taillon might next pitch -- should come prior to Friday's contest, when manager Craig Counsell meets with the media.

2h agoPasquantino went 2-for-4 with a double, a homer, three RBI and two runs scored in Thursday's win over the Angels.
Pasquantino jumped on a hanging four-seamer with two outs in the top of the third and crushed it into the stands for his fifth home run of the season, and his first this month. The first baseman would also add a sacrifice fly in the contest, marking the third time in his last five games in which he's tallied multiple RBI. Pasquantino is on an absolute tear right now, registering three multi-hit games in a row, with at least one extra-base hit in each of those performances. He's now batting .429 in May with 11 RBI, six runs scored and six extra-base hits.

2h agoBlanco went 3-for-3 with a double, a two-run home run and four runs scored in Thursday's win over the Angels.
Blanco kicked off a four-run inning for Kansas City with his first home run of the season and then led off the fifth with an infield single before eventually coming around to score a second time. The outfielder reached base four times in the contest while also swiping two bags and scoring a season-high four runs. Furthermore, it marked Blanco's first three-hit performance of the campaign and he's now batting .500 through six games in May with two RBI, six runs scored and five stolen bases.

13h agoTatum tallied 25 points (7-17 FG, 2-5 3Pt, 9-11 FT), seven rebounds, six assists and one steal over 38 minutes in Thursday's 118-94 loss to the Cavaliers in Game 2 of the Eastern Conference Semifinals.
Tatum once again led Boston offensively in Game 2, pacing all Celtics in scoring while handing out a team-high half-dozen assists to go along with a team-best rebound total in a well-rounded outing. Tatum, who also connected on a team-leading total from the free-throw line, has surpassed the 20-point mark in five of his seven games this postseason, adding at least six rebounds and six assists in three outings.

13h agoBrown posted 19 points (7-17 FG, 0-6 3pt, 5-5 FT), four rebounds and one assist over 31 minutes in Thursday's 118-94 loss to the Cavaliers in Game 2 of the Eastern Conference Semifinals.
Brown struggled from deep in Thursday's contest, not connecting on a three but still ending second on the team in scoring in a near 20-point outing in a Game 2 defeat. Brown had a down game in comparison to Tuesday's 32-point showing in Game 1, and Boston will need the star forward to contribute more in order to steal a game on the road in Game 3 and break a series tie with Cleveland.

Payton Pritchard BOS PGCeltics' Payton Pritchard: Leads bench again in Game 2
13h agoPritchard notched 13 points (6-10 FG, 1-4 3Pt), four assists, two rebounds and one steal over 20 minutes in Thursday's 118-94 loss to the Cavaliers in Game 2 of the Eastern Conference Semifinals.
Pritchard once again provide a spark off the Celtics bench in Thursday's contest, leading all Boston bench players in scoring and assists while ending as one of five Celtics in double figures in scoring in a losing effort. Pritchard has had a strong semifinals series through two games, reaching double figures in both games while playing at least 20 minutes off the bench in both contests. It will be key for the Celtics to get contributions from Pritchard and the rest of the bench this series, and we will likely continue to see Pritchard earn a large chunk of minutes on the second unit.

Donovan Mitchell CLE SGCavaliers' Donovan Mitchell: Leads offensively in Game 2 victory
13h agoMitchell tallied 29 points (10-19 FG, 5-7 3Pt, 4-6 FT), eight assists and seven rebounds over 40 minutes in Thursday's 118-94 win over the Celtics in Game 2 of the Eastern Conference Semifinals.
Mitchell led Cleveland offensively in a bounce-back performance in Game 2 to even the series with Boston, leading all players in the contest in scoring, threes made and assists while ending one point shy of the 30-point mark in the road game. Mitchell has done it all for the Cavaliers through two games against the Celtics, averaging 31 points so far in the semifinals. Mitchell posted his first game of the postseason with at least seven rebounds and seven assists, also setting a playoff high in threes made in the victory.

Evan Mobley CLE PFCavaliers' Evan Mobley: Steps up with all-around Game 2
13h agoMobley recorded 21 points (9-15 FG, 1-2 3Pt, 2-2 FT), 10 rebounds, five assists, two blocks and one steal over 33 minutes in Thursday's 118-94 win over the Celtics in Game 2 of the Eastern Conference Semifinals.
Mobley stepped up as the starting center while Jarrett Allen (ribs) remained out in Game 2, leading all players in the contest in rebounds and blocks to go along with a handful of assists while ending as one of three Cavaliers with 20 or more points in a double-double performance. Mobley is off to a hot start in the series against Boston, posting a double-double in both games thus far. If Mobley is able to continue to play well for Cleveland, that will provide a much-needed lift for the Cavaliers against a dominant Celtics squad.

Caris LeVert CLE SGCavaliers' Caris LeVert: Reaches 20 points off bench in win
13h agoLeVert ended with 21 points (9-17 FG, 0-3 3Pt, 3-4 FT), six rebounds and three assists over 27 minutes in Thursday's 118-94 win over the Celtics in Game 2 of the Eastern Conference Semifinals.
LeVert made the most of his time off the bench in Game 2, ending as one of three Cavaliers with 20 or more points while helping Cleveland claim a much-needed victory to even the series against Boston. LeVert didn't connect on a three but still ended tied for second on the team in scoring to go along with a half-dozen rebounds and a trio of assists. LeVert had a bounce-back game after recording just four points in Tuesday's Game 1, playing a big part in Cleveland being able to steal a game on the road as it now returns home to try and take a lead in the series.

Andrew Peeke BOS DBruins' Andrew Peeke: Cleared to play Friday
5m agoPeeke (finger) will be available for Game 3 against the Panthers on Friday, Conor Ryan of The Boston Globe reports.
Peeke figures to replace Parker Wotherspoon on the third pairing, though Derek Forbort could also be in danger of being relegated to the press box. Considering the 26-year-old Peeke has managed just one point in his last 15 outings, fantasy players probably shouldn't expect much from him on the offensive end.

Connor Dewar TOR CMaple Leafs' Connor Dewar: Slated for shoulder surgery
10m agoDewar will undergo offseason shoulder surgery but is expected to be ready for training camp, David Alter of The Hockey News reports Friday.
Dewar ended the season mired in a 14-game goal drought during which he recorded four assists, 14 shots and 26 hits while averaging 11:54 of ice time. Acquired by the Leafs at the trade deadline, Dewar will be a restricted free agent this summer and should be back for another year with the Leafs, likely still filling a bottom-six role.

Joseph Woll TOR GMaple Leafs' Joseph Woll: Suffered back injury
22m agoWoll sustained a back injury in Game 6 against the Bruins which resulted in him missing Game 7 on May 4, ESPN's Kristen Shilton reports.
Woll was riding a two-game winning streak when he suffered his back injury, having forced the series to a Game 7. There is no indication that the 25-year-old backstop won't be ready for the start of training camp in the fall, which could see him challenging the likes of Ilya Samsonov for the starting gig heading into 2024-25.

Bobby McMann TOR CMaple Leafs' Bobby McMann: Dealing with knee problem
29m agoMcMann was sidelined for the last nine games of the season due to an MCL sprain, Terry Koshan of The Toronto Sun reports Friday.
McMann finished his rookie year having logged 56 games for the Leafs in which he notched 15 goals on 118 shots, nine assists and 117 hits while averaging 11:34 of ice time. The 27-year-old winger got plenty of looks on the first line with Auston Matthews this season and could be back in that role heading into 2024-25. With a full 82-game campaign, McMann should be capable of reaching the 20-goal threshold and pushing for the 40-point mark.

38m agoTrocheck logged a pair of assists in Thursday's 3-2 overtime victory over the Hurricanes in Game 3.
Trocheck set up Alexis Lafreniere's tally in the third period before recording the primary helper on Artemi Panarin's game-winner 1:43 into overtime. The 30-year-old Trocheck now has points in seven straight games to start the playoffs, totaling five goals and seven assists, including multi-point efforts in his last three contests.

Jake Guentzel CAR CHurricanes' Jake Guentzel: Scores again Thursday
41m agoGuentzel scored a goal on two shots in Thursday's 3-2 overtime loss to the Rangers in Game 3.
Guentzel opened the scoring midway through the third period, deflecting a feed from Dmitry Orlov past Igor Shesterkin to give Carolina an early 1-0 lead. While the Canes find themselves down 3-0 in the series, Guentzel has done his part, recording three goals and four points in the three contests. The 29-year-old winger has four goals and eight points in eight games so far in the postseason.
