Browns' Cedric Tillman: Could take a step forward in Year 2
    2h ago

Mary Kay Cabot of the Cleveland Plain-Dealer and Zac Jackson of The Athletic suggest that Tillman is a candidate to take a step forward in his second season as a pro.

Per Cabot, the Browns figure to frequently employ Amari Cooper, Jerry Jeudy and Elijah Moore in three-receiver sets, but Tillman nonetheless should see his share of opportunities as the season progresses, especially if injuries hit the aforementioned trio. As a rookie, the 2023 third-rounder recorded a 21/224/0 receiving line on 44 targets in 14 regular-season games, but if he's able to carve out steadier playing time in 2024, the 6-3, 215-pounder -- who missed Cleveland's wild-card loss to the Texans with a concussion -- could emerge as a solid complementary option alongside the team's top pass-catchers. Also in the mix for snaps in the Browns' WR corps are 2022 third-rounder David Bell and 2024 fifth-rounder Jamari Thrash.

Ben Skowronek: Time up with Rams
    2h ago

The Rams are slated to waive Skowronek, Dianna Russini of The Athletic reports.

Skowronek, a 2021 seventh-round pick, finished his third season with the Rams with a career-low 66 receiving yards across 17 appearances, while mostly contributing on special teams. The soon-to-be 27-year-old is versatile enough to line up in a variety of roles on offense, so it's a bit of a surprise to see him be cut before training camp. He figures to resurface in a depth role elsewhere in the league.

Giants' Allen Robinson: Seeking rebound with Big Blue
    4h ago

Robinson signed a contract with the Giants on Thursday, ESPN.com reports.

Robinson was cut by the Steelers earlier this offseason in a move to save salary cap space, and he now gets an opportunity to reignite his career in New York, where there's a need for a big-bodied target for Daniel Jones (knee) while Darren Waller's future remains in flux. Malik Nabers, taken sixth overall in April's draft, figures to dominate the Giants' wide receiver opportunities out of the gate, while Darius Slayton (thumb) and Wan'Dale Robinson seem likely to also start in three-wide sets. Robinson racked up just 34 catches for 280 yards on 49 targets with Pittsburgh last season, despite suiting up for all 17 games, so he's no lock to beat out Jalin Hyatt for the No. 4 role this offseason.

Bills' Zach Davidson: Battling for depth role
    15h ago

Davidson (undisclosed) is competing for one of the Bills' final roster spots at tight end this offseason, Joe Buscaglia of The Athletic reports.

Davidson missed the entire 2023 campaign after the Bills placed him on injured reserve last June. The nature of the 25-year-old's injury was never disclosed, though he looks to be past the issue now that he's being viewed as a candidate for a depth role at tight end. Davidson's primary competition for slotting behind Dalton Kincaid and Dawson Knox should come from Tre' McKitty and Quintin Morris.

Ravens' Andrew Vorhees: Participating in rookie minicamp
    15h ago

Vorhees (knee) was an active participant in the Ravens' rookie minicamp last Friday through Monday, Clifton Brown of the team's official site reports.

Vorhees missed his entire rookie season after suffering a torn ACL during the 2023 NFL Scouting Combine. While he has yet to participate in any padded sessions, the 25-year-old appears to be back to full health for this year's rookie minicamp. Baltimore head coach John Harbaugh also said that Vorhees will compete for a starting job at guard during training camp.

Chevan Cordeiro: Let go by Seattle
    17h ago

The Seahawks waived Cordeiro on Wednesday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.

Cordeiro landed with Seattle as an undrafted free agent Friday, but his stint with the organization proved to be short lived. The 24-year-old quarterback out of San Jose State would have likely competed for a spot on the Seahawks' practice squad this offseason, but he'll now look to latch on elsewhere before NFL training camps get underway this summer.

Giants manager Bob Melvin said Lee is absent from the lineup for Thursday's game in Colorado due to a sore foot which is a result of a foul ball off his leg in Wednesday's contest, Manny Randhawa of MLB.com reports.

Lee is receiving treatment and will be reevaluated Friday to see if he's ready to play then. Consider him day-to-day for the time being. Austin Slater is occupying center field in Lee's stead Thursday.

Yankees' Henry Lalane: On injured list
    1m ago

Lalane is on the Florida Complex League Yankees' 7-day injured list with an undisclosed injury.

One of the most electric teenage pitchers in the minors, Lalane seemingly mastered the complex league last year (0.97 WHIP, 34:4 K:BB in 21.2 innings), so this explains why he hasn't been assigned to a full-season affiliate yet. If it were a very serious injury, Lalane may have been put on the 60-day injured list, so perhaps he'll just need some time to rehab the injury at the Yankees' spring training complex before making his season debut.

Astros' Cristian Javier: Set to return Saturday
    22m ago

Javier (neck) will rejoin the Astros' rotation Saturday in Detroit, Chandler Rome of The Athletic reports.

Javier will have gone nearly a month in between starts for the Astros when he toes the rubber Saturday, having been sidelined with a neck problem. He's ready to roll now, though, following one rehab start with Double-A Corpus Christi which saw him allow three runs over 3.1 frames. Javier threw just 68 pitches in the outing, so he could be somewhat limited from a workload perspective against the Tigers.

Triple-A Worcester transferred Walter (shoulder) from its 7-day injured list to the 60-day IL on Wednesday.

Walter possesses a spot on the Red Sox's 40-man roster, but he's currently residing on the Triple-A club's IL since he was optioned to the affiliate in early March. He strained his left shoulder toward the end of camp and has yet to pitch for Worcester. His season debut now doesn't appear as though it'll come until at least June as a result of his move to the 60-day IL.

Orioles' Ryan Mountcastle: Goes deep Wednesday

Mountcastle went 1-for-5 with a two-run home run in Wednesday's 7-6 extra-innings win over the Nationals.

Mountcastle is hitting .226 (7-for-31) over seven games in May, but four of those hits have gone for extra bases. He gave the Orioles a brief lead in the 11th inning of Wednesday's contest. The first baseman is slashing .277/.324/.485 with six long balls, 18 RBI, 20 runs scored, nine doubles and two stolen bases over 142 plate appearances. Mountcastle continues to hit well from the heart of the order in an everyday role.

Red Sox's Johanfran Garcia: Out for season with knee injury

Single-A Salem placed Garcia on its full-season injured list Wednesday after he was carted off the field in a May 1 game with a "significant knee injury" that will require surgery, Alex Speier of The Boston Globe reports.

The knee injury is a big setback in the development of Garcia, a 19-year-old catching prospect. Garcia had gotten off to a hot start to the Carolina League season before suffering the injury, slashing .385/.467/.596 with two home runs and five RBI over 60 plate appearances.

Cavaliers' Jarrett Allen: Doesn't participate in shootaround

Allen (ribs), who is listed as questionable, did not participate in morning shootaround in advance of Thursday's Game 2 against the Celtics, Bobby Manning of CLNS Media reports.

Allen's rib injury has cost him four consecutive games, and it appears a fifth is on the horizon. We may not get official confirmation on the center's status until closer to tipoff, but his lack of participation in shootaround is a discouraging sign. If he remains out, Evan Mobley should continue serving as the Cavaliers' center, while Max Strus and Isaac Okoro play the two forward spots.

Knicks' Miles McBride: Passive performance Wednesday
    13h ago

McBride amassed four points (1-4 FG, 0-2 3Pt, 2-2 FT) and one assist across 20 minutes during Wednesday's 130-121 victory over the Pacers in Game 2 of the Eastern Conference Semifinals.

McBride managed just four points in the win, struggling to find any real rhythm on the offensive end. Although his role has been somewhat limited to this point, OG Anunoby (hamstring) going down could open up an interesting opportunity. Should Anunoby be forced to miss time, look for McBride to potentially slide into the starting lineup for Game 3.

Burks closed Wednesday's 130-121 victory over the Pacers in Game 2 of the Eastern Conference Semifinals with zero points (0-1 FG) in one minute.

Burks dusted himself off Wednesday, leaving the bench for the first time this postseason. Jalen Brunson was forced to the locker room during the second quarter, affording one minute of playing time to Burks. Given Brunson was able to return to the game, it is unlikely we see Burks again anytime soon.

Knicks' Isaiah Hartenstein: Flirts with triple-double in win

Hartenstein continues to impress for the Knicks, falling two assists short of a triple-double. With Mitchell Robinson (ankle) likely out for the remainder of the postseason, Hartenstein should be in line for heavy minutes moving forward. It's been a breakout season for Hartenstein, one that should have him well-placed to receive a sizeable upgrade when it comes time to discuss his future contract.

Pacers' Ben Sheppard: Drains three triples Wednesday

Sheppard chipped in 11 points (4-6 FG, 3-4 3Pt) and one assist over 20 minutes during Wednesday's 130-121 loss to New York in Game 2 of the Eastern Conference Semifinals.

Sheppard continues to play meaningful minutes for the Pacers, connecting on three triples en route to 11 points. While the Pacers ended with six players logging double-digit scoring, it was still not enough to get over the hump in front of a vocal New York crowd. Sheppard should continue to serve as a three-point threat off the bench.

Pacers' Tyrese Haliburton: Leads all scorers in loss

Haliburton totaled 34 points (11-19 FG, 7-11 3Pt, 5-6 FT), six rebounds, nine assists and three steals in 35 minutes during Wednesday's 130-121 loss to New York in Game 2 of the Eastern Conference Semifinals.

Haliburton finally found some rhythm on the offensive end, putting up a game-high 34 points, including seven triples. Although the Pacers managed to put up a respectable total, their defense simply wasn't up to the task of slowing down the Knicks. With the series now shifting to Indiana, Haliburton will look to build on this performance in the hopes of keeping the series alive.

Drouin recorded 19 goals and 56 points in 79 regular-season outings in 2023-24. However, he hasn't been available in the playoffs due to the injury. When Drouin is healthy, he will probably serve in a top-six capacity.

Pesce (lower body) has yet to resume skating and is out indefinitely as a result, Chip Alexander of The Raleigh News & Observer reports Thursday.

Pesce didn't make the trip with the team to New York and could now be in danger of missing the remainder of the best-of-seven series with the Rangers. Without Pesce in the squad, Tony DeAngelo figures to see the biggest uptick in ice time, including minutes with the man advantage. Prior to getting hurt, Pesce was stuck in a 38-game goal drought during which he notched just seven helpers, so fantasy players shouldn't be expecting a ton of offensive output from the defenseman even once cleared to play.
