Joey Slye JAC K
Joey Slye: Replaced by rookie
5h agoThe Jaguars released Slye on Tuesday.
Slye inked with Jacksonville as a free agent back in March, but he's now lost his spot on the roster to rookie sixth-round pick Cam Little. Meanwhile, Riley Patterson remains with the Jaguars as potential offseason competition for Little. Slye converted 19 of 24 field-goal tries and 32 of 35 extra-point attempts across 17 games with Washington last season.

Zay Jones JAC WR
Zay Jones: Released by Jacksonville
5h agoThe Jaguars released Jones on Tuesday.
Jones' release comes shortly following Jacksonville's selection of rookie Brian Thomas in the first round of the 2024 NFL Draft. The 29-year-old missed all but nine games last season due to a PCL injury, and despite now being healthy, his release saves the Jaguars a notable $4.2 million in cap space. In addition to Thomas, Christian Kirk and Gabe Davis round out Trevor Lawrence's clear top three wideouts, while Jones will work to find a landing spot elsewhere in the league.

Ricky Pearsall SF WR
49ers' Ricky Pearsall: 2024 fantasy impact may be limited
7h agoPearsall may not see the field often as a rookie after being drafted by the 49ers, who have all three starting wideouts returning for 2024, Matt Barrows of The Athletic reports.
San Francisco's selection of Pearsall at the tail end of the first round of the draft came as a bit of a surprise, both in terms of draft slot and roster build. The 49ers still have all three of their starting WRs from last year, and Pearsall was mostly projected as a Day 2 pick rather than Day 1. Perhaps the front office drafted the Florida product with an eye on next offseason, at which point WRs Brandon Aiyuk and Jauan Jennings are expected to hit free agency and Deebo Samuel will be entering the final year of his contract. Pearsall is an explosive talent with a good chance to put up fantasy-worthy numbers at some point during his career; it just may not happen right off the bat in a loaded 49ers offense.

Michael Gallup DAL WR
Raiders' Michael Gallup: Lands in Las Vegas
20h agoGallup agreed to terms on a one-year, $3 million contract with the Raiders on Monday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
After a six-year stint in Dallas to start his career, Gallup will get a fresh start in Las Vegas. His second year with the Cowboys generated plenty of optimism, as he tallied 1,107 yards receiving to go along with six touchdowns. However, he has failed to replicate those types of numbers since. With Davante Adams and Jakobi Meyers locked in as the Raiders' top pass catchers, Gallup will compete with the likes of Tre Tucker and DJ Turner, among others, for the No. 3 pass-catching role.
-
Curtis Samuel BUF WR
Bills' Curtis Samuel: Get competition via draft
20h agoSamuel has a new teammate in the receiving room after the Bills took Keon Coleman out of Florida State with the first pick of the second round Friday.
Samuel, signed as a free agent in March, was never going to be a No. 1 or even a No. 2 in Buffalo, but now we at least know who's been brought in ahead of him on the depth chart. It's a mild surprise the Bills chose only one receiver with their 10 draft picks, so for now the versatile Samuel likely sits No. 3 in the pecking order behind Khalil Shakir and Coleman. That said, this is a perfect offense for Samuel's skill set, and he'll be a weapon of some sort once things get going, just not the primary receiving option.

Shane Lemieux NYG OG
Saints' Shane Lemieux: Joining up with Saints
21h agoNew Orleans signed Lemieux (biceps) on Monday, Nick Underhill of NewOrleans.Football reports.
The Giants opted not to hold on to Lemieux after the termination of his rookie contract, but he's now found another chance with the Saints. He's set to compete for a roster spot among an offensive line that underwhelmed in 2023.

Daulton Varsho TOR LF
Blue Jays' Daulton Varsho: Receives night off
2m agoVarsho is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Royals.
Varsho won't face the left-handed Cole Ragans on Tuesday as the Blue Jays trot out a lineup of eight righties and Cavan Biggio. The outfielder is 1-for-14 (.071) across his last four games but will likely slide back into the Toronto lineup Wednesday when they face RHP Seth Lugo.
-
Harrison Bader NYM CF
Mets' Harrison Bader: Getting day off
5m agoBader is absent from the lineup for Tuesday's game versus the Cubs.
It would appear to be a routine day off for Bader. Tyrone Taylor will occupy center field for the Mets against Javier Assad and the Cubs.
-
Mark Vientos NYM 3B
Mets' Mark Vientos: Heads back to minors
7m agoThe Mets optioned Vientos to Triple-A Syracuse on Tuesday, Mike Puma of the New York Post reports.
Vientos contributed a walk-off home run in Sunday's extra-innings win over the Cardinals but now finds himself back in the minors as Starling Marte returns to the active roster. With J.D. Martinez with the club and Brett Baty absorbing most of the at-bats at third base, there's no path to regular playing time for Vientos right now.
-
Starling Marte NYM RF
Mets' Starling Marte: Back from bereavement list
9m agoThe Mets activated Marte from the bereavement list Tuesday, Mike Puma of the New York Post reports.
He is not, however, in Tuesday's lineup versus the Cubs but will be available off the bench after missing the previous three games. DJ Stewart is in right field Tuesday.
-
Tim Anderson MIA SS
Marlins' Tim Anderson: Held out of action Tuesday
17m agoAnderson (thumb) is not in the lineup for Tuesday's game versus the Rockies.
Anderson had to depart Monday's contest due to a mild left thumb sprain. He is considered day-to-day. Vidal Brujan will play shortstop for the Marlins in Anderson's place.
-
Ramon Urias BAL 3B
Orioles' Ramon Urias: Not in Tuesday's lineup
21m agoUrias is not in the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Yankees.
The Yankees are throwing southpaw Nestor Cortes, but the right-handed hitting Urias will begin this one on the bench. Jordan Westburg is at third base and Jorge Mateo will handle second base.
-
Terry Rozier MIA SG
Heat's Terry Rozier: Remains out for Game 5
21m agoRozier (neck) has been ruled out for Wednesday's Game 5 against the Celtics, Ira Winderman of the South Florida Sun Sentinel reports.
Rozier will miss an 11th straight game due to a neck strain. Jimmy Butler (knee) and Jaime Jaquez (hip) are also out for the potential elimination game, so Delon Wright, Patty Mills, Kevin Love and Duncan Robinson are all candidates for increased roles.
-
Jaime Jaquez Jr. MIA SF
Heat's Jaime Jaquez: Ruled out for Game 5
24m agoJaquez has been ruled out for Wednesday's Game 5 against the Celtics due to a hip flexor strain, Ira Winderman of the South Florida Sun Sentinel reports.
Jaquez initially went to the locker room during the first half of Game 4 after experiencing tightness in his hip but quickly returned to action. However, he was sidelined for the entire fourth quarter and finished with only nine points and two boards in 22 minutes. With Jaquez joining Terry Rozier (neck) and Jimmy Butler (knee) on the sidelines for the potential elimination game, Delon Wright, Patty Mills, Haywood Highsmith, Kevin Love and Duncan Robinson are candidates for increased roles.

Kawhi Leonard LAC SF
Clippers' Kawhi Leonard: Confirmed out for Game 5
1h agoCoach Tyronn Lue said Tuesday that Leonard (knee) will not play in Game 5 versus the Mavericks on Wednesday, NBA writer Marc Stein reports.
Lue made this announcement shortly after saying Leonard wouldn't be doing anything at all during Tuesday's practice. Leonard clearly didn't have much mobility in Games 2 and 3, and it's unclear when he'll be able to return. Based on previous reports, the Clippers will need to see Leonard's knee inflammation improve before giving him the green light.

Kawhi Leonard LAC SF
Clippers' Kawhi Leonard: Won't practice Tuesday
2h agoCoach Tyronn Lue said Leonard (knee) will not do anything at practice Tuesday, Tomer Azarly of ClutchPoints.com reports.
After sitting out Game 1 due to inflammation in his right knee, Leonard played in Games 2 and 3, but he looked like a shell of himself with limited mobility. Leonard was held out of Game 4 on Sunday, and it would be a big surprise if he could play Wednesday based on how the forward is trending. If Leonard is indeed held out, Amir Coffey would be a candidate to see an increased role.
-
Olivier-Maxence Prosper DAL SF
Mavericks' Olivier-Maxence Prosper: Remains out
2h agoProsper (ankle) has been ruled out for Wednesday's Game 5 against the Clippers, Mike Curtis of The Detroit News reports.
Prosper will miss a third straight game due to a left ankle sprain. He played only one minute during Game 1 and didn't see the court in Game 2, so his prolonged absence hasn't impacted Dallas' rotation.
-
Tim Hardaway Jr. DAL SG
Mavericks' Tim Hardaway: Questionable for Game 5
2h agoHardaway (ankle) had a setback during Tuesday's scrimmage and is questionable for Wednesday's Game 5 against the Clippers, ESPN's Tim MacMahon reports.
Hardaway was reportedly moving really well during the scrimmage, so the Mavericks will be frustrated to see the guard suffer a setback. With this news, there may not be any more clarity on his status until Wednesday's morning shootaround.

Ethan Bear WAS D
Capitals' Ethan Bear: Leaves Player Assistance Program
33m agoBear (personal) has been cleared by the NHL/NHLPA Player Assistance Program, Bailey Johnson of The Washington Post reports Tuesday.
Bear logged 24 games for Washington this season in which he registered one goal and three assists while averaging a career-low 14:54 of ice time. With one year remaining on his contract, Bear should be back with Washington next season, though he may be hard-pressed to force his way into the lineup on a nightly basis.
-
Casey DeSmith VAN G
Canucks' Casey DeSmith: Available to play
35m agoDeSmith (lower body) will return to the lineup in Tuesday's Game 5 home matchup versus Nashville, Brendan Batchelor of Sportsnet 650 reports.
Per Batchelor, the starting goaltender for the Canucks will be a game-time decision. Due to the absences of DeSmith and Thatcher Demko (knee), Arturs Silovs made his NHL playoff debut in Game 4, stopping 27 shots in Sunday's 4-3 overtime victory over the Predators. If DeSmith doesn't start Tuesday, Silovs will probably be between the pipes.
-
Nicklas Backstrom WAS C
Capitals' Nicklas Backstrom: Will remain on LTIR next season
37m agoBackstrom (hip) is expected to spend the 2024-25 campaign on long-term injured reserve, Tom Gulitti of NHL.com reports Tuesday.
Backstrom managed just eight games this year before being forced to miss the remainder of the season on LTIR. At this point, Backstrom's career appears to be over, with the center essentially riding out the final year of his contract. That being the case, Backstrom will eventually retire having played in 1105 games, all for the Capitals, in which he racked up 271 goals and 762 assists over the course of 17 seasons.
-
Vladislav Namestnikov WPG C
Jets' Vladislav Namestnikov: Not playing Tuesday
2h agoNamestnikov (face) won't play Tuesday against Colorado in Game 5, per Ken Wiebe of The Winnipeg Free Press.
Namestnikov suffered a fractured cheekbone in Sunday's 5-1 loss to the Avalanche in Game 4. He has one goal, four shots on net and eight hits in four appearances this postseason. With Namestnikov unavailable and Axel Jonsson-Fjallby serving as a healthy scratch, Cole Perfetti and David Gustafsson will draw into the lineup for Tuesday's Game 5 matchup.
-
Joseph Woll TOR G
Maple Leafs' Joseph Woll: Tending twine in Game 5
3h agoWoll will guard the road net Tuesday in Game 5 against Boston, according to Renaud Lavoie of TVA Sports.
Woll will make his first start this postseason after Ilya Samsonov went 1-3 with a 3.31 GAA and an .883 save percentage in the opening four contests of the series. The 25-year-old Woll stopped all five shots he faced during Saturday's relief appearance in Game 4. He posted a mark of 0-2-1 versus the Bruins during the 2023-24 regular season, surrendering 12 goals on 89 shots. The Maple Leafs need a win in Game 5 to force Game 6 back in Toronto on Thursday.
-
Connor Hellebuyck WPG G
Jets' Connor Hellebuyck: Gets starting nod
3h agoHellebuyck will guard the home crease against Colorado in Game 5 on Tuesday, per Ken Wiebe of The Winnipeg Free Press.
Hellebuyck has lost three straight games, so he and the Jets will be facing elimination Tuesday. He's recorded a sub-par .870 save percentage and has allowed 13 goals in that span. Hellebuyck has yet to log a save percentage above .872 in any of the first four games of the series -- he'll likely need to be better in Game 5 in order for Winnipeg to have a chance to force Game 6.
