Joey Slye JAC K
Joey Slye: Replaced by rookie
4h agoThe Jaguars released Slye on Tuesday.
Slye inked with Jacksonville as a free agent back in March, but he's now lost his spot on the roster to rookie sixth-round pick Cam Little. Meanwhile, Riley Patterson remains with the Jaguars as potential offseason competition for Little. Slye converted 19 of 24 field-goal tries and 32 of 35 extra-point attempts across 17 games with Washington last season.

Zay Jones JAC WR
Zay Jones: Released by Jacksonville
4h agoThe Jaguars released Jones on Tuesday.
Jones' release comes shortly following Jacksonville's selection of rookie Brian Thomas in the first round of the 2024 NFL Draft. The 29-year-old missed all but nine games last season due to a PCL injury, and despite now being healthy, his release saves the Jaguars a notable $4.2 million in cap space. In addition to Thomas, Christian Kirk and Gabe Davis round out Trevor Lawrence's clear top three wideouts, while Jones will work to find a landing spot elsewhere in the league.

Ricky Pearsall SF WR
49ers' Ricky Pearsall: 2024 fantasy impact may be limited
6h agoPearsall may not see the field often as a rookie after being drafted by the 49ers, who have all three starting wideouts returning for 2024, Matt Barrows of The Athletic reports.
San Francisco's selection of Pearsall at the tail end of the first round of the draft came as a bit of a surprise, both in terms of draft slot and roster build. The 49ers still have all three of their starting WRs from last year, and Pearsall was mostly projected as a Day 2 pick rather than Day 1. Perhaps the front office drafted the Florida product with an eye on next offseason, at which point WRs Brandon Aiyuk and Jauan Jennings are expected to hit free agency and Deebo Samuel will be entering the final year of his contract. Pearsall is an explosive talent with a good chance to put up fantasy-worthy numbers at some point during his career; it just may not happen right off the bat in a loaded 49ers offense.

Michael Gallup DAL WR
Raiders' Michael Gallup: Lands in Las Vegas
19h agoGallup agreed to terms on a one-year, $3 million contract with the Raiders on Monday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
After a six-year stint in Dallas to start his career, Gallup will get a fresh start in Las Vegas. His second year with the Cowboys generated plenty of optimism, as he tallied 1,107 yards receiving to go along with six touchdowns. However, he has failed to replicate those types of numbers since. With Davante Adams and Jakobi Meyers locked in as the Raiders' top pass catchers, Gallup will compete with the likes of Tre Tucker and DJ Turner, among others, for the No. 3 pass-catching role.
-
Curtis Samuel BUF WR
Bills' Curtis Samuel: Get competition via draft
19h agoSamuel has a new teammate in the receiving room after the Bills took Keon Coleman out of Florida State with the first pick of the second round Friday.
Samuel, signed as a free agent in March, was never going to be a No. 1 or even a No. 2 in Buffalo, but now we at least know who's been brought in ahead of him on the depth chart. It's a mild surprise the Bills chose only one receiver with their 10 draft picks, so for now the versatile Samuel likely sits No. 3 in the pecking order behind Khalil Shakir and Coleman. That said, this is a perfect offense for Samuel's skill set, and he'll be a weapon of some sort once things get going, just not the primary receiving option.

Shane Lemieux NYG OG
Saints' Shane Lemieux: Joining up with Saints
20h agoNew Orleans signed Lemieux (biceps) on Monday, Nick Underhill of NewOrleans.Football reports.
The Giants opted not to hold on to Lemieux after the termination of his rookie contract, but he's now found another chance with the Saints. He's set to compete for a roster spot among an offensive line that underwhelmed in 2023.

Sixto Sanchez MIA RP
Marlins' Sixto Sanchez: Draws opener assignment
5m agoSanchez is slated to serve as the Marlins' opening pitcher for Tuesday's game against the Rockies in Miami, Christina De Nicola of MLB.com reports.
Sanchez will be making his second straight appearance as an opener after working a season-high 2.2 innings while allowing three earned runs on five hits and one walk in a no-decision against Atlanta last Wednesday. He draws a less challenging assignment Tuesday, but Sanchez is still unlikely to be called upon to cover more than three or four innings before he turns the game over to the bullpen. The Marlins don't have an obvious candidate in their bullpen to piggyback Sanchez, making it difficult to target any Miami pitcher as a streaming option for Tuesday.

Griffin Jax MIN RP
Twins' Griffin Jax: Duran returns from IL
11m agoJax will likely shift into a setup role since the Twins reinstated Jhoan Duran (oblique) from the 15-day injured list Tuesday.
Jax pitched well as the fill-in closer to begin the season with four saves, a 2.25 ERA and 17:4 K:BB across 12 innings, but it appears his time in the role is now up. The right-hander should still see plenty of high-leverage opportunities in as a setup man, but his fantasy utility will likely be minimal while Duran is healthy.
-
Matt Bowman MIN RP
Twins' Matt Bowman: Exits 40-man roster
22m agoBowman was designated for assignment by the Twins on Tuesday.
Bowman loses his spot on the 26-man and 40-man rosters with the Twins needing to clear space for the return of Jhoan Duran. He pitched well in yielding just two runs with a 6:4 K:BB over 7.2 innings. The 32-year-old sinkerballer will now go through the waiver process.
-
Jhoan Duran MIN RP
Twins' Jhoan Duran: Reinstated Tuesday, as expected
25m agoThe Twins activated Duran (oblique) from the 15-day injured list Tuesday.
Minnesota will finally have their closer healthy and available after Duran missed the first month of the season due to an oblique strain. The right-hander labored a bit during his first rehab outing, but he looked like himself during his second and final appearance Saturday as he averaged 101.8 mph with his fastball. Manager Rocco Baldelli hasn't officially indicated whether or not Duran will immediately slot back in as the Twins' closer, but he seems likely to get ninth-inning chances sooner than later.

Gio Urshela DET 3B
Tigers' Gio Urshela: Continuing running progression
27m agoUrshela (hamstring) will join the Tigers on their upcoming road trip as he continues his running progression, Evan Woodbery of MLive.com reports.
Urshela is also going through hitting and defensive drills on a daily basis as he ramps things back up. He's been out for the last week-and-a-half with a right hamstring strain but wouldn't appear far off from a rehab assignment.
-
Chas McCormick HOU LF
Astros' Chas McCormick: Nursing sore hamstring
37m agoAstros manager Joe Espada said Tuesday that McCormick is dealing with some hamstring soreness, Chandler Rome of The Athletic reports.
Houston has yet to post their lineup for Tuesday's matchup with Cleveland, but the 29-year-old outfielder doesn't seem likely to be included. Prospect Joey Loperfido is being called up for his first taste of the big leagues, and he'll see some run in the outfield with McCormick banged up, per Espada. McCormick's injury doesn't appear to be a serious concern, but he may be limited over the next few days.

Kawhi Leonard LAC SF
Clippers' Kawhi Leonard: Confirmed out for Game 5
32m agoCoach Tyronn Lue said Tuesday that Leonard (knee) will not play in Game 5 versus the Mavericks on Wednesday, NBA writer Marc Stein reports.
Lue made this announcement shortly after saying Leonard wouldn't be doing anything at all during Tuesday's practice. Leonard clearly didn't have much mobility in Games 2 and 3, and it's unclear when he'll be able to return. Based on previous reports, the Clippers will need to see Leonard's knee inflammation improve before giving him the green light.

Kawhi Leonard LAC SF
Clippers' Kawhi Leonard: Won't practice Tuesday
38m agoCoach Tyronn Lue said Leonard (knee) will not do anything at practice Tuesday, Tomer Azarly of ClutchPoints.com reports.
After sitting out Game 1 due to inflammation in his right knee, Leonard played in Games 2 and 3, but he looked like a shell of himself with limited mobility. Leonard was held out of Game 4 on Sunday, and it would be a big surprise if he could play Wednesday based on how the forward is trending. If Leonard is indeed held out, Amir Coffey would be a candidate to see an increased role.
-
Olivier-Maxence Prosper DAL SF
Mavericks' Olivier-Maxence Prosper: Remains out
1h agoProsper (ankle) has been ruled out for Wednesday's Game 5 against the Clippers, Mike Curtis of The Detroit News reports.
Prosper will miss a third straight game due to a left ankle sprain. He played only one minute during Game 1 and didn't see the court in Game 2, so his prolonged absence hasn't impacted Dallas' rotation.
-
Tim Hardaway Jr. DAL SG
Mavericks' Tim Hardaway: Questionable for Game 5
1h agoHardaway (ankle) had a setback during Tuesday's scrimmage and is questionable for Wednesday's Game 5 against the Clippers, ESPN's Tim MacMahon reports.
Hardaway was reportedly moving really well during the scrimmage, so the Mavericks will be frustrated to see the guard suffer a setback. With this news, there may not be any more clarity on his status until Wednesday's morning shootaround.
-
Luka Doncic DAL PG
Mavericks' Luka Doncic: Expected to play Game 5
1h agoDoncic has a sprained knee and is probable for Wednesday's Game 5 against the Clippers, Tim MacMahon of ESPN.com reports.
Doncic still put up a triple-double during Sunday's Game 4 loss, but he tweaked his right knee, which has given him problems since Game 3. The MVP candidate is expected to suit up for the critical Game 5 in Los Angeles, but his effectiveness will be something to monitor. Doncic has averaged 29.0 points, 9.8 rebounds and 8.5 assists through the first four games of the series, but he's shooting only 38.6 percent from the field, including 27.1 percent from deep.
-
Rui Hachimura LAL PF
Lakers' Rui Hachimura: Ends season on high note
1h agoHachimura chipped in 15 points (6-15 FG, 2-5 3Pt, 1-2 FT), five rebounds and one assist across 34 minutes during Monday's 108-106 loss to the Nuggets in Game 5 of the first round of the Western Conference playoffs.
Hachimura scored in double figures for the first time during the opening-round series, but it wasn't enough as the Lakers were bounced from the playoffs by the Nuggets for a second consecutive season. From Feb. 9 through April 16, Hachimura averaged 16.8 points, 5.0 rebounds, 1.3 assists and 1.0 steals-plus-blocks in 31.4 minutes. He excelled as a starter during the regular season, but Hachimura's poor postseason may impact his role next season. He signed a three-year, $51 million deal with the Lakers last summer.
-
Vladislav Namestnikov WPG C
Jets' Vladislav Namestnikov: Not playing Tuesday
1h agoNamestnikov (face) won't play Tuesday against Colorado in Game 5, per Ken Wiebe of The Winnipeg Free Press.
Namestnikov suffered a fractured cheekbone in Sunday's 5-1 loss to the Avalanche in Game 4. He has one goal, four shots on net and eight hits in four appearances this postseason. With Namestnikov unavailable and Axel Jonsson-Fjallby serving as a healthy scratch, Cole Perfetti and David Gustafsson will draw into the lineup for Tuesday's Game 5 matchup.
-
Joseph Woll TOR G
Maple Leafs' Joseph Woll: Tending twine in Game 5
2h agoWoll will guard the road net Tuesday in Game 5 against Boston, according to Renaud Lavoie of TVA Sports.
Woll will make his first start this postseason after Ilya Samsonov went 1-3 with a 3.31 GAA and an .883 save percentage in the opening four contests of the series. The 25-year-old Woll stopped all five shots he faced during Saturday's relief appearance in Game 4. He posted a mark of 0-2-1 versus the Bruins during the 2023-24 regular season, surrendering 12 goals on 89 shots. The Maple Leafs need a win in Game 5 to force Game 6 back in Toronto on Thursday.
-
Connor Hellebuyck WPG G
Jets' Connor Hellebuyck: Gets starting nod
2h agoHellebuyck will guard the home crease against Colorado in Game 5 on Tuesday, per Ken Wiebe of The Winnipeg Free Press.
Hellebuyck has lost three straight games, so he and the Jets will be facing elimination Tuesday. He's recorded a sub-par .870 save percentage and has allowed 13 goals in that span. Hellebuyck has yet to log a save percentage above .872 in any of the first four games of the series -- he'll likely need to be better in Game 5 in order for Winnipeg to have a chance to force Game 6.
-
Auston Matthews TOR C
Maple Leafs' Auston Matthews: Awaiting medical clearance
3h agoMatthews (illness) will be a game-time decision for Game 5 against the Bruins on Tuesday. Coach Sheldon Keefe told reporters, "We'll see how the rest of the day goes," per David Alter of The Hockey News.
Matthews didn't stay on the ice long during the team's game-day skate, raising doubts regarding his availability. Still, if the 26-year-old California native can get the all-clear from the team doctors, he should immediately reclaim both his top-line and No. 1 power-play roles. By Matthews' standards, he has struggled offensively of late with just one goal in his last six outings.
-
Maxwell Crozier TB D
Lightning's Max Crozier: Sent down to AHL
3h agoCrozier was reassigned to AHL Syracuse on Tuesday.
Crozier played in three of the four playoff games for Tampa Bay against the Panthers, recording four shots on goal and five hits. The 24-year-old played in 13 regular-season games, logging two assists and 13 shots on goal. He will look to propel AHL Syracuse to a potential Calder Cup Championship.
-
Emil Martinsen Lilleberg TB D
Lightning's Emil Lilleberg: Headed for minors
3h agoLilleberg was reassigned to AHL Syracuse on Tuesday.
Lilleberg will join up with the Crunch, who are tied 1-1 in a best-of-five series against AHL Rochester. At the NHL level this season, the 23-year-old blueliner played in 37 regular-season games in which he tallied five helpers, 105 hits and 31 shots, though he is still looking for his first NHL goal.
