Shakel Brown TEN DT
Shakel Brown: Let go by Tennessee
2h agoBrown (ankle) was waived by the Titans on Tuesday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.
Brown spent all last season on IR, but he was waived without an injury designation, so he should be considered healthy moving forward. The 25-year-old was an undrafted free agent out of Troy in 2023 and was working to earn a spot on the Titans roster when he suffered the injury in a preseason contest.

Ryan Swoboda ATL OL
Ryan Swoboda: Gets cut loose
2h agoSwoboda (undisclosed) was waived by the Falcons with an injury designation Tuesday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.
Swoboda will revert to injured reserve if he goes unclaimed. At that point, he'll be forced to miss the entirety of the 2024 campaign unless he can reach an injury settlement with Atlanta.
-
Kyle Peko TEN NT
Lions' Kyle Peko: Finds new home
3h agoPeko (calf) signed a contract with the Lions on Tuesday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.
Peko finished last season on injured reserve after competing in 13 games and recording 22 combined tackles. Now healthy again, the veteran lineman will get an opportunity in Detroit for his seventh NFL season. The Oregon State product will also have the chance to reunite with his defensive line coach from the Titans, Terrell Williams, who holds the same position now with the Lions.
-
Joe Burrow CIN QB
Bengals' Joe Burrow: Continues to progress
4h agoBurrow (wrist), who has resumed throwing, indicated Tuesday that he's fully cleared to do everything that doesn't involve contact, Kelsey Conway of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.
Burrow, who is bouncing back from a procedure to repair a torn ligament in his right wrist, started throwing again in April, noting that at this stage his focus is on mechanics like his footwork and arm path, as well as the "little intricacies of the throwing motion." While it remains to be seen when he'll be cleared for contact, Ben Baby of ESPN relays that the Bengals' franchise signal-caller feels as though he's "in a good spot" in his recovery process, and there's nothing to suggest that Burrow won't be ready to go well ahead of Week 1.
-
Daylen Baldwin MIN WR
Daylen Baldwin: Let go by Minnesota
4h agoThe Vikings waived Baldwin on Tuesday.
Baldwin spent the entire 2023 campaign on Minnesota's practice squad and inked a reserve/future contract with the team back in January, but he'll now have to look for an opportunity to compete elsewhere. His lone NFL appearance came in one game with the Browns in 2022.

Tylan Wallace BAL WR
Ravens' Tylan Wallace: Competing for depth chart slotting
5h agoWallace figures to compete with newcomer Deonte Harty for depth chart slotting as the coming season approaches, Jeff Zrebiec of The Athletic reports.
Per Zrebiec, Zay Flowers, Rashod Bateman, Nelson Agholor and rookie fourth-rounder Devontez Walker currently profile as the team's top four wide receivers, while Wallace and Harty could be vying for the next slot, a potential summer competition that may hinge on who the team deems more useful in the return game. Of course, injuries down the road could change that context, but as things stand Wallace doesn't have a clear path to an expanded role in the Ravens offense in 2024.

Brayan Bello BOS SP
Red Sox's Brayan Bello: Returning Sunday
23m agoBello (lat) said Tuesday that he will start Sunday's game against the Nationals, Alex Speier of The Boston Globe reports.
Bello made a rehab appearance Tuesday at Double-A Portland, allowing three runs (two earned) on four hits and two walks while striking out five batters across 2.2 innings. Despite his unremarkable performance, the right-hander said he came away from the start without any pain and is ready to return to Boston's rotation. Bello holds a 3.04 ERA and 1.05 WHIP across 26.2 innings so far this year.

Xavier Edwards MIA 2B
Marlins' Xavier Edwards: Moves to 60-day IL
30m agoThe Marlins transferred Edwards (foot) to the 60-day injured list Tuesday, Christina De Nicola of MLB.com reports.
Edwards' move to the 60-day IL will make him ineligible to return until May 27, though it remains unclear whether or not he'll be able to play by then. The 24-year-old has been slowly working his way back from a bacterial infection in his left foot that has kept him on the shelf since the beginning of the season.
-
George Soriano MIA RP
Marlins' George Soriano: Recalled from Jacksonville
37m agoThe Marlins recalled Soriano from Triple-A Jacksonville on Tuesday.
Soriano will come up from the minors to provide additional depth to the Marlins' bullpen as Roddery Munoz heads back to Triple-A. Soriano gave up eight earned runs in seven innings during his first big-league stint this year, so he will likely be limited to low-leverage work while in the majors.
-
Ross Stripling OAK SP
Athletics' Ross Stripling: Rough day vs. Texas
40m agoStripling (1-6) took the loss Wednesday against the Rangers, allowing 11 runs (five earned) on 10 hits and two walks over 1.2 innings. He struck out two.
It was certainly an outing to forget for Stripling -- after allowing a leadoff homer to Marcus Semien in the first inning, the right-hander allowed the first seven batters to reach in the second as Texas would put up a 10 spot in the frame. Stripling had held opponents to three runs or fewer in four straight starts prior to Wednesday's implosion. His ERA is now up to 5.14 with a 1.57 WHIP and 29:10 K:BB through eight starts (42 innings) this year. Stripling will look to get back on track in his next outing, tentatively lined up for this weekend in Seattle.
-
Roddery Munoz MIA SP
Marlins' Roddery Munoz: Optioned to Triple-A
40m agoThe Marlins optioned Munoz to Triple-A Jacksonville on Tuesday.
Munoz will head back to the minors after giving up six earned runs in 4.2 innings during Monday's loss to the Dodgers. George Soriano was recalled from Jacksonville to fill Munoz's roster spot, though Jesus Luzardo (elbow) and Braxton Garrett (shoulder) could return from their rehab assignments within the next several days to help fill the open spot in Miami's rotation.
-
Jose Urena TEX RP
Rangers' Jose Urena: Earns win in first start
1h agoUrena (1-2) earned the win Wednesday against Oakland, allowing two runs (one earned) on four hits and two walks over five innings. He struck out two.
Urena was able to minimize the damage through his first two innings before holding the A's to just one baserunner (who reached on an error) over his final three frames. The 32-year-old Urena had allowed four earned runs over 3.2 innings in his previous two appearances out of the bullpen. His ERA sits at 3.86 with a 1.29 WHIP and 18:11 K:BB this season. With Nathan Eovaldi (groin) working his way back from the IL, Urena will likely return to a relief role.
-
Jamal Murray DEN PG
Nuggets' Jamal Murray: Won't be suspended
21m agoThe NBA announced Tuesday that Murray will be fined $100,000 but won't be suspended after throwing a heat pad and towel on the court during Monday's Game 2 loss to Minnesota, Shams Charania of The Athletic reports.
Murray tallied just eight points in Monday's 106-80 loss to the Timberwolves, and threw a heat pad and towel on the court in frustration. However, the star guard will be available for Game 3 on Friday, as Denver will travel to Minnesota looking to avoid a 3-0 deficit.
-
Rudy Gobert MIN C
Timberwolves' Rudy Gobert: Wins Defensive Player of the Year
1h agoThe NBA announced Tuesday that Gobert (personal) has been named the 2023-24 Kia NBA Defensive Player of the Year.
Gobert has now tied Dikembe Mutombo and Ben Wallace for the most DPOY awards in NBA history with four. Gobert was the anchor Minnesota defense, which boasted a league-best 108.4 defensive rating. The defensive stalwart's 2.1 blocks per game ranked sixth in the NBA while his 12.9 rebounds per contest ranked second.
-
Jarrett Allen CLE C
Cavaliers' Jarrett Allen: Won't play Tuesday
1h agoAllen (ribs) has been ruled out for Tuesday's Game 1 against the Celtics, Chris Fedor of The Cleveland Plain Dealer reports.
Allen will miss his fourth straight contest Tuesday after being downgraded from questionable to out due to a right rib contusion. Isaac Okoro will continue to start in his absence. Allen's next chance to suit up is Game 2 on Thursday.
-
Mitchell Robinson NY C
Knicks' Mitchell Robinson: Won't play Wednesday
2h agoRobinson is listed as out for Wednesday's Game 2 against the Pacers due to left ankle injury management.
Robinson logged 12 minutes in Game 1 but seemingly aggravated the surgically repaired ankle that has bothered him throughout the playoffs. Precious Achiuwa will likely receive increased playing time in Robinson's absence, while the latter's next chance to suit up is Game 3 on Friday.
-
Tyrese Haliburton IND PG
Pacers' Tyrese Haliburton: Listed as questionable again
2h agoHaliburton (back) is questionable for Wednesday's Game 2 against the Knicks.
Haliburton continues to deal with back spasms that popped up ahead of Game 4 of the opening-round series versus Milwaukee. He scored only six points in Game 1 (2-6 FG) against the Knicks, but he did have eight assists and four steals. If the back issues worsen, we may see more of T.J. McConnell, who was fantastic off the bench during Monday's loss.
-
Christian Wood LAL PF
Lakers' Christian Wood: Exercises player option
7h agoWood exercised his $3 million player option for the 2024-25 season Tuesday, Michael Scotto of USA Today reports.
Wood was a sporadic part of the rotation in Los Angeles this season, appearing in 50 games with averages of 6.9 points, 5.1 rebounds and 1.0 assists in 17.4 minutes. There could potentially be a lot of changes for the Lakers this offseason depending on whether or not LeBron James picks up his player option, so it's difficult to project Wood's role for next season at the moment.
-
Evgeny Kuznetsov CAR C
Hurricanes' Evgeny Kuznetsov: Healthy scratch Tuesday
22m agoAlthough an initial report suggested Kuznetsov was unavailable for Tuesday's Game 2 versus the Rangers because of an undisclosed injury, he is actually a healthy scratch, per Tom Gulitti of NHL.com
Kuznetsov took a bad penalty in Game 1 on Sunday that led to a goal in what was ultimately a 4-3 loss to Carolina, which is why he's out of the lineup. The 31-year-old has two goals and four points in six playoff contests this year while averaging a modest 11:37 of ice time. Max Comtois drew into the lineup due to Kuznetsov being scratched.
-
Evgeny Kuznetsov CAR C
Hurricanes' Evgeny Kuznetsov: Not playing in Game 2
1h agoKuznetsov (undisclosed) won't play Tuesday in Game 2 versus the Rangers, Walt Ruff of the Hurricanes' official site reports.
Kuznetsov has two goals and two assists in six games this postseason. He will be replaced in the lineup by Max Comtois.
-
Igor Shesterkin NYR G
Rangers' Igor Shesterkin: Set to start Tuesday
1h agoShesterkin is expected to start at home against Carolina in Game 2 on Tuesday, per Colin Stephenson of Newsday.
Shesterkin stopped 22 of 25 shots en route to a 4-3 victory over the Hurricanes in Game 1 on Sunday. He's opened the playoffs with five straight victories while allowing just 10 goals on 126 shots (.921 save percentage). However, the Hurricanes ranked eighth offensively in the regular season with 3.38 goals per contest, so they're likely to be a challenging adversary for Shesterkin.
-
Frederik Andersen CAR G
Hurricanes' Frederik Andersen: Gets starting nod
3h agoAndersen will defend the road goal during Game 2 versus the Rangers on Tuesday, Adam Gold of 99.9 The Fan reports.
Andersen struggled a bit against New York's potent offensive attack in Sunday's Game 1, surrendering four goals on just 23 shots en route to a 4-3 defeat. The Rangers will undoubtedly continue to be a challenging opponent for Andersen, but Sunday was just the second time the 34-year-old netminder has allowed four or more goals in a contest through 22 regular-season and playoff appearances combined in 2023-24, so it wouldn't be surprising to see him fare better in Game 2.
-
Joel Kiviranta COL LW
Avalanche's Joel Kiviranta: Set to miss Game 1
4h agoKiviranta (lower body) won't play Tuesday in Game 1 versus Dallas, according to Evan Rawal of Colorado Hockey Now.
Kiviranta will miss his third straight contest. He wore a non-contact jersey during Colorado's morning skate before the start of the second round. He picked up one assist, nine hits and three shots on goal in three outings versus Winnipeg during the opening round of the postseason.
-
Elias Pettersson VAN C
Canucks' Elias Pettersson: Under the weather
5h agoPettersson isn't practicing Tuesday due to an illness, leaving his status for Wednesday's Game 1 versus Edmonton in doubt, Brendan Batchelor of Sportsnet 650 reports.
After racking up 34 goals and 89 points through 82 regular-season outings, Pettersson was a bit of a disappointment during Vancouver's first-round series win over the Predators, picking up three helpers while firing just eight shots on net through six contests. Another update on his status for Game 1 will likely surface following Wednesday's morning skate.
