Browns' Dorian Thompson-Robinson: Will have followup MRI on Monday
    16h ago

Thompson-Robinson (hip) will undergo an MRI on Monday and is expected to participate in minicamp next week, Mary Kay Cabot of Cleveland.com reports.

DTR suffered a hip subluxation against the Texans on Christmas Eve and was ruled out for the remainder of the Browns' season. His most recent MRI in March revealed progress in his rehab, and Thompson-Robinson is hoping the latest one this upcoming week will allow him to get the green light to do some on-field work with the team's rookies and fellow younger players. The Browns signed veteran QBs Jameis Winston and Tyler Huntley in the offseason, so DTR is facing stiff competition for backup duties behind Deshaun Watson.

    17h ago

Ali (biceps) is participating in some of the Ravens' minicamp drills and is expected to be fully recovered ahead of training camp, Jeff Zrebiec of The Athletic reports.

The rookie fifth-round pick ruptured his biceps tendon at the Senior Bowl back in late January, but the Marshall product is expected to be fully recovered ahead of Baltimore's training camp in August. Ali is poised to compete for a pivotal role in the backfield, as J.K. Dobbins (Achilles) and Gus Edwards are now both with the Chargers and Keaton Mitchell (knee) is still recovering after tearing his ACL in December.

Ravens' Rasheen Ali: Hopeful for training camp
    19h ago

Head coach John Harbaugh indicated Saturday that he expects Ali (biceps) to be good to go in time for training camp, Jeff Zrebiec of The Athletic reports.

Ali ruptured his biceps tendon at the Senior Bowl, but he was still selected by the Ravens in the fifth round of this year's draft. The intriguing prospect had multiple 1,000-yard seasons with Marshall, but he also missed nearly the entire 2022 campaign due to an MCL injury. When healthy, he projects to compete for a role providing depth in Baltimore's backfield behind Derrick Henry.

Seahawks' Ro Torrence: Lands with Seahawks
    2d ago

Seattle signed Torrence to a contract Friday, Howard Balzer of GoPHNX.com reports.

Torrence wasn't selected in the NFL Draft in late April but will get a shot to make his case for a roster or practice-squad spot after signing with the Seahawks. The 6-foot-3 defensive back played the final two seasons of college with Arizona State and totaled 37 tackles (including 2.0 sacks) along with an interception in 2023. Torrence allowed just 20 receptions in coverage last season, the lowest total among Pac-12 cornerbacks with at least 300 snaps played in coverage during the regular season.

Keith is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Yankees.

The lefty-hitting Keith will retreat to the bench while southpaw Nestor Cortes takes the hill for the Yankees. Tigers' Javier Baez: Back in lineup Sunday
    4m ago

Baez will start at shortstop and bat eighth in Sunday's game against the Yankees.

Per Chris McCosky of The Detroit News, Baez has been dealing with lingering low-back soreness, which may explain why the Tigers held him out of the lineup for Saturday's 5-3 loss to the Yankees. The sore back doesn't look as though it'll be anything that forces Baez to the 10-day injured list, but he could start receiving more frequent days off, especially if he continues to underwhelm at the plate. After turning in a .671 OPS and .592 OPS in the 2022 and 2023 campaigns, respectively, Baez has declined further so far in his third season in Detroit. He carries a .183/.228/.258 slash line into Sunday's contest.

Arraez went 4-for-6 with a double, an RBI and two runs scored in Saturday's win over the Diamondbacks.

Arraez wasted no time in establishing a good first impression with his new team, smacking a leadoff double on the second pitch he saw from Brandon Pfaadt in the opening frame before coming around to score San Diego's first run of the contest. The newly-acquired infielder would add another three singles on the night, with the latter one leading to an eight-run seventh inning for the Padres. It marked Arraez's second game this season with four hits and he's now registered at least one knock in seven straight.

Yankees' Austin Wells: On bench in second straight
    14m ago

Wells is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Tigers.

After sitting against Tigers right-hander Casey Mize in Saturday's 5-3 win, the lefty-hitting Wells will remain on the bench Sunday with southpaw Tarik Skubal on the hill for Detroit. The Yankees may be opting for more of a timeshare at catcher between Wells and the right-handed-hitting Jose Trevino rather than a true platoon, given that Trevino has been the better performer of the two this season. Trevino heads into Sunday's game with a .719 OPS, more than 100 points higher than Wells' mark (.592).

The rookie outfielder also added a single in the contest, giving him back-to-back multi-hit games. Pages has been on an absolute tear at the plate throughout his now 10-game hitting streak, batting .418 (18-for-43) over that stretch with three homers, nine RBI and nine runs scored. Murray racked up 17 points (6-14 FG, 2-4 3Pt, 3-3 FT), one rebound and four assists over 34 minutes during Saturday's 106-99 loss to Minnesota in Game 1 of the Western Conference Semifinals.

Murray wasn't as strong as we've seen him in the past in Saturday's contest, but he still managed to end three points shy of the 20-point mark while ending as one of three Nuggets with 15 or more points in a losing effort. It will be key to see how Murray, who has been dealing with calf discomfort of late, is able to perform throughout the semifinals and to monitor whether his injury limits him to any extent against a talented Timberwolves squad.

Jokic led all Nuggets players in scoring, rebounds and assists to go along with a team-high-tying trio of steals in a well-rounded performance that nearly resulted in a triple-double in Saturday's Game 1. Jokic struggled a bit from the field but still finished north of 30 points for the third time this postseason and concluded one assist and two boards shy of a triple-double. Jokic has a tough matchup against Minnesota's big men, so it will be key to keep an eye on how he is able to perform against a strong defense in the semifinals.

Conley, who connected on a team-high-tying trio of threes, reached double digits in assists for the first time this postseason, and he has recorded at least 10 points and seven dimes in three playoff outings.

Edwards supplied 43 points (17-29 FG, 3-7 3Pt, 6-6 FT), seven rebounds, three assists, two blocks and one steal in 42 minutes during Saturday's 106-99 victory over the Nuggets in Game 1 of the Western Conference Semifinals.

Edwards did it all to lead Minnesota to a Game 1 win on the road, posting a new playoff career high in scoring while leading all players in Saturday's contest in points scored in an offensive showcase. Edwards, who scored 16 points in the first quarter alone and capped the game with 12 points in the final quarter, became the first Timberwolves player to post two consecutive 40-point playoff games. Maple Leafs' William Nylander: Nets goal in Game 7 loss

Nylander scored a goal on five shots, blocked three shots and added two hits in Saturday's 2-1 overtime loss to the Bruins in Game 7.

Nylander missed three games to begin the series due to a migraine issue, but he showed up late in the first round with three goals over the final two contests. The winger added 18 shots on net, six hits and five blocked shots. While another first-round exit is unfortunate for Toronto, Nylander's future with the team was confirmed when he signed an eight-year contract extension in January. The 28-year-old produced his second straight 40-goal season and finished with a career-high 98 points in 82 regular-season contests, so he should be a solid choice for fantasy managers in the early rounds of drafts in the fall.

Maple Leafs' Ilya Samsonov: Drops Game 7 in overtime

Samsonov allowed two goals on 31 shots in Saturday's 2-1 overtime loss to the Bruins in Game 7.

Samsonov put in a strong showing after Joseph Woll (undisclosed) was deemed unavailable for the winner-take-all contest. Samsonov was able to get the game to overtime, but a bank pass from Hampus Lindholm found David Pastrnak in the space between Samsonov and defenseman Morgan Rielly, and Pastrnak was able to convert the decisive goal. Samsonov won just one of his five playoff appearances, allowing 14 goals on 134 shots during the first round. The 27-year-old will be an unrestricted free agent this summer, and the emergence of Woll makes it seem unlikely Samsonov will be back to the Maple Leafs after a mediocre campaign.
