Izaiah Gathings: Cut by Kansas City
15m agoThe Chiefs waived Gathings on Saturday, Matt Derrick of ChiefsDigest.com reports.
Gathings inked a reserve/future deal with Kansas City back in February after being part of the team's practice squad for nearly two months to close out the 2023 campaign. He's yet to play in a regular-season game.
-
Jacob Copeland KC WR
Jacob Copeland: Cut by Kansas City
24m agoThe Chiefs waived Copeland on Saturday, Matt Derrick of ChiefsDigest.com reports.
Undrafted out of Maryland last year, Copeland signed a reserve/future deal with Kansas City back in January, but the team now needs his roster spot for the latest wave of undrafted signees. Copeland has yet to appear in an NFL game.

Dorian Thompson-Robinson CLE QB
Browns' Dorian Thompson-Robinson: Will have followup MRI on Monday
1h agoThompson-Robinson (hip) will undergo an MRI on Monday and is expected to participate in minicamp next week, Mary Kay Cabot of Cleveland.com reports.
DTR suffered a hip subluxation against the Texans on Christmas Eve and was ruled out for the remainder of the Browns' season. His most recent MRI in March revealed progress in his rehab, and Thompson-Robinson is hoping the latest one this upcoming week will allow him to get the green light to do some on-field work with the team's rookies and fellow younger players. The Browns signed veteran QBs Jameis Winston and Tyler Huntley in the offseason, so DTR is facing stiff competition for backup duties behind Deshaun Watson.

Rasheen Ali BAL RB
Ravens' Rasheen Ali: Right on schedule
2h agoAli (biceps) is participating in some of the Ravens' minicamp drills and is expected to be fully recovered ahead of training camp, Jeff Zrebiec of The Athletic reports.
The rookie fifth-round pick ruptured his biceps tendon at the Senior Bowl back in late January, but the Marshall product is expected to be fully recovered ahead of Baltimore's training camp in August. Ali is poised to compete for a pivotal role in the backfield with J.K. Dobbins (Achilles) and Gus Edwards both with the Chargers and Keaton Mitchell (knee) still recovering after tearing his ACL in December.

Rasheen Ali BAL RB
Ravens' Rasheen Ali: Hopeful for training camp
4h agoHead coach John Harbaugh indicated Saturday that he expects Ali (biceps) to be good to go in time for training camp, Jeff Zrebiec of The Athletic reports.
Ali ruptured his biceps tendon at the Senior Bowl, but he was still selected by the Ravens in the fifth round of this year's draft. The intriguing prospect had multiple 1,000-yard seasons with Marshall, but he also missed nearly the entire 2022 campaign due to an MCL injury. When healthy, he projects to compete for a role providing depth in Baltimore's backfield behind Derrick Henry.

Ro Torrence 2005 CB
Seahawks' Ro Torrence: Lands with Seahawks
22h agoSeattle signed Torrence to a contract Friday, Howard Balzer of GoPHNX.com reports.
Torrence wasn't selected in the NFL Draft in late April but will get a shot to make his case for a roster or practice-squad spot after signing with the Seahawks. The 6-foot-3 defensive back played the final two seasons of college with Arizona State and totaled 37 tackles (including 2.0 sacks) along with an interception in 2023. Torrence allowed just 20 receptions in coverage last season, the lowest total among Pac-12 cornerbacks with at least 300 snaps played in coverage during the regular season.

Jason Heyward LAD RF
Dodgers' Jason Heyward: Takes batting practice
17m agoHeyward (back) took batting practice on the field prior to Saturday's game against Atlanta, Bill Plunkett of The Orange County Register reports.
Hewyard was cleared to begin baseball activities Friday, and Saturday marks the first time he has taken batting practice since landing on the injured list April 3. The veteran outfielder still doesn't have a clear return timeline, but he may move onto simulated games if his back is able to hold up after a few rounds of BP.
-
Dominic Leone CHW RP
White Sox's Dominic Leone: Battling back tightness
45m agoLeone was removed from Saturday's game against the Cardinals due to lower-back tightness, Daryl Van Schouwen of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.
Leone entered the game in the eighth inning and was only able to get through one batter -- a five-pitch walk to Nolan Arenado -- before coming out of the game. The team officially labeled Leone as day-to-day, so his injury doesn't seem to be too severe, but the 32-year-old righty may take a few days off before pitching again.
-
Geraldo Perdomo ARI SS
Diamondbacks' Geraldo Perdomo: Fielding grounders, throwing
1h agoManager Torey Lovullo said Saturday that Perdomo (knee) has been fielding live ground balls and has also resumed throwing, Alex Weiner of ArizonaSports.com reports.
Perdomo still has yet to resume hitting, as the Diamondbacks are going to take a cautious approach with his rehab just three weeks removed from knee surgery. The 24-year-old infielder remains without a definite return timeline, but Lovullo noted he is encouraged by the progress Perdomo has made so far.
-
Chas McCormick HOU LF
Astros' Chas McCormick: Resumes running
1h agoMcCormick (hamstring) began running Saturday and could participate in batting practice within the next few days, Brian McTaggart of MLB.com reports.
Manager Joe Espada said McCormick has been feeling better since tweaking his hamstring Tuesday, and the team hopes to send him on a minor-league rehab assignment "pretty soon." The 29-year-old outfielder will be eligible to return from the IL on Wednesday, though the Astros haven't indicated whether or not he'll be ready to go by then.
-
Joey Wiemer MIL LF
Brewers' Joey Wiemer: No structural damage in knee
2h agoWiemer was diagnosed with a strained popliteus muscle in his left knee Saturday, Curt Hogg of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.
Wiemer added that the results of his MRI revealed no ligament damage. The 25-year-old outfielder fell awkwardly during Friday's win over the Cubs and landed on the injured list Saturday, though it doesn't seem like he will be in line for a long-term IL stint.
-
Graham Pauley SD 3B
Padres' Graham Pauley: Optioned to Triple-A
2h agoThe Padres optioned Pauley to Triple-A El Paso on Saturday.
Pauley will be squeezed off the major-league roster following the acquisition of Luis Arraez from Miami. Pauley has been fantastic in the minors but struggled to get going upon joining the Padres, slashing .125/.125/313 across 32 plate appearances. The 23-year-old infielder may still return to the big leagues later this season as a bench piece, but San Diego's loaded infield unit will make it hard for him to contribute on a regular basis.
-
Jamal Murray DEN PG
Nuggets' Jamal Murray: Will play in Game 1
42m agoMurray (calf) will play in Game 1 against the Timberwolves on Saturday, Harrison Wind of TheDNVR.com reports.
Murray went through his usual warmup for Game 1 and completed it with no setbacks, so the star floor general will be available to handle his regular workload in the series opener against Minnesota. Murray was stellar in the first round against the Lakers, hitting two game-winning shots and averaging 23.6 points, 4.6 rebounds and 7.2 assists per game.
-
Craig Porter Jr. CLE PG
Cavaliers' Craig Porter: Out again Sunday
1h agoPorter (ankle) will not play in Sunday's Game 7 against the Magic.
This will be the seventh game in a row on the shelf for Porter, and he remains without a timetable for a return.
-
Jarrett Allen CLE C
Cavaliers' Jarrett Allen: Questionable for Game 7
1h agoAllen (ribs) is questionable to play in Sunday's Game 7 against the Magic.
Allen has missed the last two games of the series while dealing with a rib injury, and the questionable tag doesn't shed a lot of light regarding his potential availability for the series finale. The Cavaliers need Allen to be at his best, though, as he's an influential piece of the team on both ends of the court. Allen is averaging 17.0 points, 13.8 rebounds and 1.3 steals per game in the first-round series against Orlando through four appearances.
-
Gary Harris ORL SG
Magic's Gary Harris: Questionable for Game 7
1h agoHarris (hamstring) is questionable for Sunday's Game 7 against the Cavaliers.
After suffering his hamstring injury in Game 5, Harris missed his first game of the series on Friday in Game 6. If the veteran is unable to suit up Sunday, Jonathan Isaac could potentially make another start due to his defensive versatility.
-
Jamal Murray DEN PG
Nuggets' Jamal Murray: Expected to play Saturday
2h agoDenver coach Michael Malone said he expects Murray (calf) to play in Saturday's Game 1 versus Minnesota, but he remains a game-time call, Brendan Vogt of TheDNVR.com reports.
Murray will go through his usual warmup for Game 1, and if he gets through it without any setbacks, he should be all set to take the court. Murray was terrific in the previous round against the Lakers, posting 23.6 points and 7.2 assists per game.
-
Lonzo Ball CHI PG
Bulls' Lonzo Ball: Picks up option for 2024-25
3h agoBall (knee) has picked up the $21.4 million player option in his contract for the 2024-25 season, Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN reports.
Ball continues to work toward a potential comeback before he hits the open market next summer, as he signed an original four-year, $80 million free agent deal in 2021, so it was a no-brainer for him to pick up this option. Ball hasn't logged minutes at the NBA level since Jan. 2022, but both the player and the organization are hopeful he'll be able to step on the hardwood at some point during the 2024-25 campaign.
-
Nicolas Hague LV D
Golden Knights' Nicolas Hague: Out for Game 7
5h agoHague (lower body) won't play in Game 7 against Dallas on Sunday, Danny Webster of the Las Vegas Review-Journal reports.
Hague hasn't played since suffering the injury late in Game 1. The 25-year-old blueliner went scoreless in his final 20 regular-season contests this year -- he finished with two goals and 12 over 73 outings. Alec Martinez and Zach Whitecloud should round out Vegas' defensive corps while Hague is sidelined.
-
Adam Henrique EDM C
Oilers' Adam Henrique: Set to play in Game 1
5h agoHenrique (lower body) is expected to play in Game 1 of Edmonton's second-round series against Vancouver, Tony Brar of Oilers TV reports.
Henrique didn't practice Saturday after skipping Friday's session for maintenance. Still, he's projected to play once the second round begins. Henrique has generated one goal, one assist, four shots on net and 22 hits through five outings this postseason.
-
Brett Pesce CAR D
Hurricanes' Brett Pesce: Not traveling to New York
6h agoPesce (lower body) won't travel with the Hurricanes ahead of Game 1 against the Rangers on Sunday, ruling him out for the first two games of the series, Walt Ruff of the Hurricanes' official site reports.
Pesce missed the final three games of Carolina's opening-round series after suffering a lower-body injury in Game 2 against the Islanders. The 29-year-old blueliner has one assist in two playoff games after tallying three goals and 13 points in 70 regular-season contests. Tony DeAngelo will likely remain on the Hurricanes' second pairing until Pesce can return.
-
Auston Matthews TOR C
Maple Leafs' Auston Matthews: Skating Saturday
7h agoMatthews (illness) skated at practice, though his status remains unclear for Saturday's Game 7 against the Bruins, Mike Zeisberger of NHL.com reports.
It's the first time Matthews has practiced since he left Game 4 with an illness. He has missed the last two games of the series. Getting Matthews back would be a massive boost for the Leafs in Game 7, though it appears he'll remain a game-time decision for now.
-
Bobby McMann TOR C
Maple Leafs' Bobby McMann: Not playing Saturday
7h agoMcMann (lower body) will not be in the lineup for Game 7 in Boston on Saturday, according to Joshua Kloke of The Athletic.
The good news is that McMann is getting closer after participating in Saturday's morning skate. The 27-year-old winger will miss his ninth straight game, but he could return in time for the start of Round 2 -- should Toronto advance past Boston. McMann had 15 goals, nine assists and 117 hits across 56 regular-season games in 2023-24.
-
Raphael Lavoie EDM C
Oilers' Raphael Lavoie: Summoned from AHL
7h agoLavoie, Lane Pederson, Adam Erne, Cam Dineen, Benjamin Gleason, Philip Kemp and Olivier Rodrigue were recalled from AHL Bakersfield on Saturday.
Following the Condors' elimination from the AHL playoffs, the seven call-ups will be depth players during the Oilers' postseason run. Lavoie didn't earn a point in seven NHL regular-season games during the 2023-24 campaign.
