Ryan Swoboda ATL OL
Ryan Swoboda: Gets cut loose
5m agoSwoboda (undisclosed) was waived by the Falcons with an injury designation Tuesday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.
Swoboda will revert to injured reserve if he goes unclaimed. At that point, he'll be forced to miss the entirety of the 2024 campaign unless he can reach an injury settlement with Atlanta.
-
Kyle Peko TEN NT
Lions' Kyle Peko: Finds new home
25m agoPeko (calf) signed a contract with the Lions on Tuesday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.
Peko finished last season on injured reserve after competing in 13 games and recording 22 combined tackles. Now healthy again, the veteran lineman will get an opportunity in Detroit for his seventh NFL season. The Oregon State product will also have the chance to reunite with his defensive line coach from the Titans, Terrell Williams, who holds the same position now with the Lions.

Joe Burrow CIN QB
Bengals' Joe Burrow: Continues to progress
2h agoBurrow (wrist), who has resumed throwing, indicated Tuesday that he's fully cleared to do everything that doesn't involve contact, Kelsey Conway of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.
Burrow, who is bouncing back from a procedure to repair a torn ligament in his right wrist, started throwing again in April, noting that at this stage his focus is on mechanics like his footwork and arm path, as well as the "little intricacies of the throwing motion." While it remains to be seen when he'll be cleared for contact, Ben Baby of ESPN relays that the Bengals' franchise signal-caller feels as though he's "in a good spot" in his recovery process, and there's nothing to suggest that Burrow won't be ready to go well ahead of Week 1.
-
Daylen Baldwin MIN WR
Daylen Baldwin: Let go by Minnesota
2h agoThe Vikings waived Baldwin on Tuesday.
Baldwin spent the entire 2023 campaign on Minnesota's practice squad and inked a reserve/future contract with the team back in January, but he'll now have to look for an opportunity to compete elsewhere. His lone NFL appearance came in one game with the Browns in 2022.

Tylan Wallace BAL WR
Ravens' Tylan Wallace: Competing for depth chart slotting
2h agoWallace figures to compete with newcomer Deonte Harty for depth chart slotting as the coming season approaches, Jeff Zrebiec of The Athletic reports.
Per Zrebiec, Zay Flowers, Rashod Bateman, Nelson Agholor and rookie fourth-rounder Devontez Walker currently profile as the team's top four wide receivers, while Wallace and Harty could be vying for the next slot, a potential summer competition that may hinge on who the team deems more useful in the return game. Of course, injuries down the road could change that context, but as things stand Wallace doesn't have a clear path to an expanded role in the Ravens offense in 2024.
-
Tyquan Thornton NE WR
Patriots' Tyquan Thornton: Role this season TBD
3h agoWith the Patriots having selected two wide receivers in the 2024 NFL Draft, Thornton's standing on the team's depth chart is unclear ahead of training camp, per Chad Graff of the Athletic.
In his post-draft roster assessment, Graff suggests that Thornton, who is presumably past the ankle issue that sidelined him in the Patriots' 2023 regular-season finale, isn't a roster lock ahead of Week 1. Over the first two years of his pro career, the 2022 second-rounder has had trouble staying on the field and has been limited to 35 catches in 22 contests in that span. While Thornton's speed could help him stick around if he has a strong summer, for now he currently has Kendrick Bourne, Ja'Lynn Polk, Demario Douglas, Javon Baker, K.J. Osborn, Jalen Reagor, JuJu Smith-Schuster and Kayshon Boutte to contend with for depth chart slotting.
-
Jorge Soler SF DH
Giants' Jorge Soler: Sitting again Tuesday
1m agoSoler (shoulder) isn't in the Giants' lineup for Tuesday's game against Colorado, source reports.
Although Soler's shoulder injury has now kept him out of the lineup for three consecutive games, the Giants have not said anything that would suggest a future move to the IL for the 32-year-old slugger. His absence Tuesday will allow Wilmer Flores to serve as the designated hitter and bat fifth.
-
Garrett Whitlock BOS SP
Red Sox's Garrett Whitlock: Set to face hitters
10m agoWhitlock (oblique) will throw live batting practice Friday, Pete Abraham of The Boston Globe reports.
Assuming all goes well during his live BP session, Whitlock will move onto a rehab assignment next week, though it's unclear if he will require more than one start in the minors. The 27-year-old right-hander has been on the injured list since April 17 and just began his throwing program Saturday.
-
Luis Campusano SD C
Padres' Luis Campusano: Day off Tuesday
27m agoCampusano is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Cubs.
Campusano will hand over catching duties to Kyle Higashioka for the second time in the last three days. After enduring a 1-for-13 (.076) stretch at the plate, Campusano has rebounded with hits in three straight games, tallying five RBI and a pair of runs scored in that stretch.
-
Matt Carpenter STL DH
Cardinals' Matt Carpenter: Could remain out until next week
28m agoCardinals manager Oliver Marmol said Tuesday that Carpenter's (oblique) rehab assignment with Triple-A Memphis could be extended through the weekend, John Denton of MLB.com reports.
Carpenter had a couple potential rehab games with Double-A Springfield rained out, so the team would like to see him make up for that lost time. Barring a setback, it sounds like he should be activated early next week when the Cardinals are on the road playing the Angels.
-
Jackson Merrill SD CF
Padres' Jackson Merrill: Coming off bench
30m agoMerrill is out of the lineup Tuesday against the Cubs.
After making six straight starts, Merrill will get a breather Tuesday. Instead, Jose Azocar will draw the start in center field.
-
Harrison Bader NYM CF
Mets' Harrison Bader: Out again Tuesday
31m agoBader is not in the lineup for Tuesday's game in St. Louis.
It's the second straight day Bader has been out of the lineup, although he did contribute a pinch-hit double Monday (before being thrown out on the bases). Brandon Nimmo is in center field and DJ Stewart will occupy left.
-
Christian Wood LAL PF
Lakers' Christian Wood: Exercises player option
5h agoWood exercised his $3 million player option for the 2024-25 season Tuesday, Michael Scotto of USA Today reports.
Wood was a sporadic part of the rotation in Los Angeles this season, appearing in 50 games with averages of 6.9 points, 5.1 rebounds and 1.0 assists in 17.4 minutes. There could potentially be a lot of changes for the Lakers this offseason depending on whether or not LeBron James picks up his player option, so it's difficult to project Wood's role for next season at the moment.
-
Aaron Gordon DEN PF
Nuggets' Aaron Gordon: Puts up 20 points in loss Monday
9h agoGordon registered 20 points (8-14 FG, 3-5 3Pt, 1-2 FT), four rebounds, two assists and one steal in 33 minutes during Monday's 106-80 loss to Minnesota in Game 2 of the Western Conference Semifinals.
Gordon played with tons of energy and tried to spark the rest of the team throughout the game, but his efforts were unsuccessful. This game snapped a three-game streak of Gordon not being able to reach double-digit figures in the scoring column, and Gordon needs to remain a valuable offensive alternative for the Nuggets if they want to have a shot at turning the series around, especially given the struggles of both Jamal Murray and Michael Porter.
-
Nikola Jokic DEN C
Nuggets' Nikola Jokic: Nears triple-double in Game 2 loss
9h agoJokic amassed 16 points (5-13 FG, 0-1 3Pt, 6-6 FT), 16 rebounds, eight assists and one block across 39 minutes during Monday's 106-80 loss to the Timberwolves in Game 2 of the Western Conference Semifinals.
Jokic can change a game by himself at any point of a contest and is dominant enough to carry Denver to victory on a regular basis, but he hasn't been able to do it in the first two games of the current series. The two-time MVP winner is averaging 27.0 points, 15.0 rebounds and 9.4 assists per game through seven playoff contests. While he remains an absolute stud in fantasy regardless of what happens with the Nuggets as a team, he needs his teammates to take a step forward to avoid an early exit in their quest to win back-to-back NBA titles.
-
Jamal Murray DEN PG
Nuggets' Jamal Murray: Cold shooting in Game 2 defeat
9h agoMurray finished with eight points (3-18 FG, 0-4 3Pt, 2-2 FT), 13 rebounds, two assists, one block and two steals across 36 minutes during Monday's 106-80 loss to Minnesota in Game 2 of the Western Conference Semifinals.
Murray has struggled badly in the postseason when it comes to his efficiency despite the fact he had some good moments in the series against the Lakers. However, Monday's game was a new low for him, as he missed 15 of his 18 shots and didn't reach the 10-point plateau for the first time since Feb. 29. Murray needs to bounce back if the Nuggets want to have a shot at turning things around. He's averaging 12.5 points per game while shooting just 28.1 percent from the floor in his first two appearances in the series.
-
Nickeil Alexander-Walker MIN SF
Timberwolves' Nickeil Alexander-Walker: Shines off bench in Game 2
9h agoAlexander-Walker accumulated 14 points (5-9 FG, 4-7 3Pt), six rebounds, one assist and three blocks in 30 minutes during Monday's 106-80 win over the Nuggets in Game 2 of the Western Conference Semifinals.
As has been the case throughout the entire playoff run, Alexander-Walker was impressive and provided a scoring punch off the bench, unsettling the Nuggets with his long-range shooting and energy. Alexander-Walker averaged just 8.0 points per game during the regular season, but he's taken his play to another level in the playoffs, scoring in double digits in four of his six appearances while upping his scoring average to 11.3 points per game.
-
Karl-Anthony Towns MIN PF
Timberwolves' Karl-Anthony Towns: Efficient double-double in win
9h agoTowns closed with 27 points (10-15 FG, 3-5 3Pt, 4-4 FT), 12 rebounds, one assist, two blocks and one steal across 36 minutes during Monday's 106-80 win over the Nuggets in Game 2 of the Western Conference Semifinals.
Towns was tasked with more responsibility on the defensive end since Rudy Gobert (personal) was unavailable for this contest. Even though he had to deal with Nikola Jokic on both ends of the court, Towns thrived and posted a great stat line. This was Towns' third double-double over his last four playoff appearances, and he's expected to return to his role at power forward in case Gobert is ready to return for Game 3 of the series, scheduled for Friday.
-
Frederik Andersen CAR G
Hurricanes' Frederik Andersen: Gets starting nod
35m agoAndersen will defend the road goal during Game 2 versus the Rangers on Tuesday, Adam Gold of 99.9 The Fan reports.
Andersen struggled a bit against New York's potent offensive attack in Sunday's Game 1, surrendering four goals on just 23 shots en route to a 4-3 defeat. The Rangers will undoubtedly continue to be a challenging opponent for Andersen, but Sunday was just the second time the 34-year-old netminder has allowed four or more goals in a game through 22 regular-season and playoff appearances combined in 2023-24, so it wouldn't be surprising to see him fare better in Game 2.
-
Joel Kiviranta COL LW
Avalanche's Joel Kiviranta: Set to miss Game 1
2h agoKiviranta (lower body) won't play Tuesday in Game 1 versus Dallas, according to Evan Rawal of Colorado Hockey Now.
Kiviranta will miss his third straight contest. He wore a non-contact jersey during Colorado's morning skate before the start of the second round. He picked up one assist, nine hits and three shots on goal in three outings versus Winnipeg during the opening round of the postseason.
-
Elias Pettersson VAN C
Canucks' Elias Pettersson: Under the weather
3h agoPettersson isn't practicing Tuesday due to an illness, leaving his status for Wednesday's Game 1 versus Edmonton in doubt, Brendan Batchelor of Sportsnet 650 reports.
After racking up 34 goals and 89 points through 82 regular-season outings, Pettersson was a bit of a disappointment during Vancouver's first-round series win over the Predators, picking up three helpers while firing just eight shots on net through six contests. Another update on his status for Game 1 will likely surface following Wednesday's morning skate.
-
Lukas Reichel CHI LW
Blackhawks' Lukas Reichel: Signs two-year extension
3h agoReichel signed a two-year, $2.4 million contract extension with the Blackhawks on Tuesday.
Reichel hasn't really lived up to expectations since being selected 17th overal in the 2020 Entry Draft -- he logged a career-high 65 games at the NHL level in 2023-24, but the 21-year-old forward managed just five goals and 16 points while posting an ugly minus-29 rating over that span. Reichel will likely be a full-time NHLer in 2024-25, but if he doesn't get his game together at the top level soon, he may not last with the Blackhawks beyond this two-year extension.
-
Adam Henrique EDM C
Oilers' Adam Henrique: Considered day-to-day
4h agoHenrique (lower body) is not expected to play in Game 1 versus Vancouver on Wednesday, Daniel Nugent-Bowman of The Athletic reports.
Henrique is considered day-to-day after being absent from several practices following Edmonton's first-round series win over the Kings. Mattias Janmark is slated to see time on the Oilers' top line due to Henrique's absence, and Connor Brown will draw back into the lineup after sitting as a healthy scratch for the entirety of the Oilers' five-game series win over LA.
-
Alexandar Georgiev COL G
Avalanche's Alexandar Georgiev: Starting Game 1
4h agoGeorgiev will start Tuesday on the road in Game 1 against Dallas, per Jesse Montano of Guerilla Sports.
Georgiev was a little shaky during Colorado's first-round series against the Jets, recording an .893 save percentage, but he still went 4-1 during the five-game series thanks to fantastic goal support from his teammates. The Stars are coming off a hard-fought seven-game series win over Vegas, so the Avalanche will have the upper hand in terms of rest early in on in the second round.
