Patrick appeared in 23 games with 20 starts over the past two seasons with Chicago. The 30-year-old was the team's starting center for almost the entire 2023 campaign, but he ended the year on IR due to an unspecified calf injury. Whe the nature of this issue was never revealed, Patrick now appears to be healthy again. He should now provide depth along the interior of New Orleans' offensive line.

1h agoThe Buccaneers signed Jefferson on Sunday, Greg Auman of Fox Sports reports.
Jefferson was one of 26 players brought in on a tryout basis during Tampa Bay's rookie minicamp Friday and Saturday. The 5-foot-10 running back played at four different schools during his collegiate career, beginning at Maine in 2017. He spent his final two seasons with Kentucky after a standout stint at FCS Sam Houston, where he logged 1,907 yards on 299 carries across two years. However, he finished with just 28 rushes for 184 yards across 11 games with the Wildcats in 2023.

5h agoThe Lions are signing Davis to a contract after he attended rookie camp on a tryout basis, Mike Garafolo of NFL Network reports.
Davis was waived by the Cardinals in late April after spending most of last year on the team's practice squad. He was active for one contest during the campaign but didn't see any snaps. The 25-year-old will get a shot to compete for a roster spot among a wide-receiver corps that is headed by Amon-Ra St. Brown and Jameson Williams.

Olumuyiwa Fashanu NYJ OTJets' Olumuyiwa Fashanu: Recovering from quad injury
6h agoFashanu strained his quadriceps while running the 40-yard dash at the NFL Combine and could miss some or all of OTAs due to the injury, Zack Rosenblatt of The Athletic reports.
Rosenblatt described the injury as minor, so Fashanu should be recovered well before the start of the regular season, but the 11th overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft may not be ready to join his new teammates at the start of offseason workouts. The offensive tackle out of Penn State has been working off to the side with trainers during the Jets' rookie minicamp.

23h agoDupree will sign a two-year contract with the Chargers, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.
Dupree reportedly met with both the Falcons and Steelers recently in addition to the Chargers, and it appears that he'll end up with Los Angeles. The veteran edge rusher enjoyed a solid bounce-back campaign with Atlanta last season, recording 39 tackles (his most since 2019), including 6.5 sacks (his most since 2020). Dupree will add to an already formidable Chargers pass rush that also includes Joey Bosa (foot), Khalil Mack and Tuli Tuipulotu.

1d agoThe Panthers waived Parker with an undisclosed non-football injury Friday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.
The details and severity of Parker's injury are unknown, other than the fact that it did not occur on the football field. The cornerback will now be available to be claimed off waivers should any other teams show interest.

6m agoMendick (back) is expected to begin a rehab assignment in the near future, Scott Merkin of MLB.com reports.
Mendick will begin a rehab assignment in the next day or two according to manager Pedro Grifol. The 30-year-old has been out since May 2 with lower-back tightness, but he appears to be on track to return to the major-league roster in the near future.

TJ Friedl CIN CFReds' TJ Friedl: Dealing with thumb injury
21m agoFriedl suffered a right thumb contusion in Sunday's matchup with the Giants, Charlie Goldsmith of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.
Friedl was hit by a pitch in the top of the first inning, exiting the contest after getting some work in the hitting cages before the bottom of the frame. The outfielder appears to have avoided any fractures in his thumb and he can be considered day-to-day for the time being.

Patrick Bailey SF CGiants' Patrick Bailey: Dealing with illness
26m agoBailey was scratched from Sunday's lineup against the Reds due to a viral illness, Shayna Rubin of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.
Bailey was a late removal from the team's lineup ahead of their series finale with Cincinnati, which is now understood to have been the result of an illness. If the catcher is forced to miss a couple days, Blake Sabol will likely operate as the team's exclusive catcher.

34m agoLee exited Sunday's contest against the Reds in the first inning with a left shoulder strain, Shayna Rubin of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.
Lee was forced to leave Sunday's series finale with Cincinnati after he ran into the outfield wall after suffering what is now understood to be a left shoulder strain. The 25-year-old now appears set for an extended absence after making his return from a foot injury Sunday. If Lee ultimately ends up on the injured list, Tyler Fitzgerald would stand to see an increase in workload in San Francisco's outfield.

Alek Manoah TOR SPBlue Jays' Alek Manoah: Solid over seven versus Twins
45m agoManoah (0-1) was tagged with a loss after he pitched seven innings, allowing three unearned runs on four hits and a walk while striking out six in Sunday's 5-1 defeat to Minnesota.
Manoah was in full command Sunday, tossing six scoreless frames to open his outing against the Twins. With one out in the top of the seventh inning, Max Kepler reached on a fielding error by Toronto's third baseman Ernie Clement and three runs later came around to score in the frame, all of which were unearned for Manoah. The 26-year-old struggled in his 2024 debut against the Nationals on May 5, giving up seven runs (six earned) over four innings, so Sunday's performance was certainly a welcomed one for the big right-hander. Manoah will look to make it back-to-back strong outings when he returns to the mound for his next projected start Saturday versus the Rays.

Giants' Jung Hoo Lee: Exits game with left arm injury
1h agoLee left in the first inning of Sunday's game against the Reds with a left arm injury, Maria I. Guardado of MLB.com reports.
Lee crashed into the outfield fence attempting to make a catch in the top of the first inning. He fell to the ground and immediately grabbed his left shoulder, and the athletic trainer was holding Lee's left arm as they walked off the field. Lee is coming off a three-game absence due to a sore foot, and it appears the 25-year-old is set to miss even more time with what appears to be a more significant injury. Tyler Fitzgerald has taken over at center field for the rest of Sunday's game.

Allen has missed six consecutive contests with bruised ribs despite being listed as questionable leading up to each contest. While he's been sidelined, Evan Mobley has slid to the center spot and Isaac Okoro has entered the starting lineup. Should that trend continue, Tristan Thompson would be lined up to fill the backup center role.

Mitchell seemingly picked up the injury during Cleveland's Game 3 loss, when he generated 33 points in 43 minutes of action. With Jarrett Allen (rib) also questionable, the Cavaliers could find themselves rather shorthanded for Monday's tilt. If Mitchell can't go, Caris Levert would likely enter the first unit, while Isaac Okoro and Sam Merrill could see more minutes off the bench.

Doncic lands a questionable tag for a second straight game as he battles a slew of injuries. Despite being banged up, Doncic has played at least 39 minutes in every playoff game, averaging 27.7 points, 9.3 rebounds, 8.7 assists and 1.4 steals per contest. If he isn't able to play Monday, Dante Exum and Jaden Hardy would likely take on expanded roles.
