Buccaneers' Ramon Jefferson: Inks deal with Tampa

The Buccaneers signed Jefferson on Sunday, Greg Auman of Fox Sports reports.

Jefferson was one of 26 players brought in on a tryout basis during Tampa Bay's rookie minicamp Friday and Saturday. The 5-foot-10 running back played at four different schools during his collegiate career, beginning at Maine in 2017. He spent his final two seasons with Kentucky after a standout stint at FCS Sam Houston, where he logged 1,907 yards on 299 carries across two years. However, he finished with just 28 rushes for 184 yards across 11 games with the Wildcats in 2023.

The 25-year-old will get a shot to compete for a roster spot among a WR corps that is headed by Amon-Ra St. Brown and Jameson Williams.

Jets' Olumuyiwa Fashanu: Recovering from quad injury
    19h ago

Fashanu strained his quadriceps while running the 40-yard dash at the NFL Combine and could miss some or all of OTAs due to the injury, Zack Rosenblatt of The Athletic reports.

Rosenblatt described the injury as minor, so Fashanu should be recovered well before the start of the regular season, but the 11th overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft may not be ready to join his new teammates at the start of offseason workouts. The offensive tackle out of Penn State has been working off to the side with trainers during the Jets' rookie minicamp.

Chargers' Bud Dupree: Set to join Chargers
    2d ago

Dupree will sign a two-year contract with the Chargers, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.

The veteran edge rusher enjoyed a solid bounce-back campaign with Atlanta last season, recording 39 tackles (his most since 2019), including 6.5 sacks (his most since 2020). Dupree will add to an already formidable Chargers pass rush that also includes Joey Bosa (foot), Khalil Mack and Tuli Tuipulotu.

Athletics' Brent Rooker: Homers, plates two in loss
    5m ago

Rooker went 2-for-4 with a two-run homer in Sunday's loss to the Mariners.

Rooker stayed hot at the plate with his fourth multi-hit effort in his last five game and second home run over that span as well. Since the start of May, Rooker is slashing .441/.525/.882 with four homers, 12 RBI, 11 runs and a 6:7 BB:K in 40 plate appearances. He's now up to 10 long balls on the year and is one of 10 players with double digit home runs thus far. Rooker also owns a .632 slugging percentage and 1.012 OPS, both of which would rank third in baseball if he had enough plate appearances to qualify.

Athletics' Abraham Toro: Goes deep in loss
    15m ago

Toro went 2-for-4 with a solo home run in Sunday's loss to the Mariners.

Toro launched his fourth home run of the year to begin the sixth off Luis Castillo. It's a continuation of what's been a ridiculously hot stretch at the plate for Toro. Over his last 16 games, the 27-year-old is slashing .410/.455/.607 with two homers, nine RBI and 12 runs scored and has become one of the better leadoff hitters in baseball so far this year. Cardinals' Brandon Crawford: Playing time sparse
    5h ago

Crawford is slashing .107/.194/.107 over 10 games with the Cardinals this season.

Crawford was signed to serve as backup to rookie Masyn Winn, who has been one of the Cardinals' better hitters. As such, Crawford has seen minimal playing time. All three of his hits this season have been singles, and he's also posted a 3:11 BB:K. The veteran shortstop is unlikely to see a larger role unless Winn suffers an injury or enters a severe slump.

  • Mike Siani STL CF
Cardinals' Mike Siani: Swipes bag in win
    7h ago

Siani went 2-for-4 with a double, one RBI, a stolen base and one run scored in Sunday's 4-3 win over the Brewers.

Siani has slipped into a part-time role since Dylan Carlson returned from a shoulder injury. It appears to have lit a spark in Siani's game -- he's 10-for-21 (.476) over nine games in May. The outfielder is at a .250/.318/.300 slash line with three steals, two RBI, 12 runs scored, one double and one triple through 71 plate appearances this season. The 24-year-old's defense is his best attribute, but none of the Cardinals' outfielders have hit particularly well, so he could gain more playing time if his bat stays warm.

Brown, along with a number of fellow second-stringers, saw an uptick in playing time Sunday. The Pacers took control early and never relinquished, leveling the series at 2-2. Game 5 is in New York on Tuesday, where both teams will look to gain the upper hand.

Walker played nine minutes off the bench, joining his fellow benchwarmers as the Pacers blew out the Knicks. While it was nice to see the rookie on the floor, there was possibly a case to be made for him playing even more minutes given the nature of the scoreline.

Jackson registered 10 points (4-8 FG, 2-2 FT), six rebounds and two steals in 19 minutes during Sunday's 121-89 win over New York in Game 4 of the Eastern Conference Semifinals.

Jackson played a substantial role Sunday as the Pacers easily accounted for the Knicks, leveling the series at 2-2. Jeffries had five points (2-7 FG, 1-4 3Pt), three rebounds and one steal across 13 minutes during Sunday's 121-89 loss to the Pacers in Game 4 of the Eastern Conference Semifinals.

Jeffries made a rare appearance Sunday as the Knicks went deep into their rotation. The Pacers dominated from start to finish, meaning even Tom Thibodeau couldn't justify playing his starters big minutes. Obviously, this is not something fans should expect to see very often.

Milton saw his first minutes of the postseason, playing the entire fourth quarter of what was an ugly loss. The series is now tied at 2-2, however, the Pacers have all the momentum heading back to New York. Assuming the next game is a tighter affair, don't expect to see Milton in the rotation.

Knicks' Alec Burks: Drops team-high 20 points

Burks contributed 20 points (5-11 FG, 2-6 3Pt, 8-10 FT), five rebounds and two assists in 23 minutes during Sunday's 121-89 loss to the Pacers in Game 4 of the Eastern Conference Semifinals.

Burks made the most of a favorable situation, pouring in 20 points as the Knicks were blown out by the Pacers. We know Burks can put up points in a hurry when afforded meaningful playing time. With that said, New York fans will be hoping this is not the case moving forward given his outbursts tend to come when the Knicks are on the wrong end of the blowout.

Kane notched a power-play assist and four hits in Sunday's 4-3 loss to the Canucks in Game 3.

He's primarily played in a middle-six role and on the second power-play unit, so his scoring contributions are likely to remain limited to a supporting level.

The Oilers' second power-play unit made a rare contribution, with Ekholm getting the opening goal. All three of Ekholm's goals this postseason have come in the second round, and he's added two assists, 16 shots on net, 10 hits, 12 blocked shots and a plus-4 rating through eight playoff outings overall. The 33-year-old should continue to see his even-strength minutes on the top pairing alongside Bouchard.
