Sam Darnold MIN QB
Vikings' Sam Darnold: Vikings won't rush to name starting QB
13h agoThe Vikings could begin the season with Darnold as the team's starting quarterback despite taking J.J. McCarthy with the No. 10 overall pick in the 2024 NFL draft, ESPN reports. "We're not going to rush his development," said general manager Kwesi Adofo-Mensah. "We're just going to do what's best for the Vikings in the short and long term."
Darnold signed a one-year, $10 million contract with the Vikings as a short-term veteran starter or backup. It's hard to handicap when McCarthy may take over the starting job this soon after the draft, but it's notable the Vikings are trying to reduce expectations. Expect the quarterback battle for the Week 1 starting job to commence this summer. Still, odds are Darnold will only be the starter for a few weeks at most if McCarthy is healthy and making progress.

Trey Knox 2005 TE
Vikings' Trey Knox: Lands in Minnesota
15h agoKnox signed with the Vikings as an undrafted free agent Saturday.
After four years at Arkansas, Knox transferred to South Carolina for his fifth-year senior season. He compiled a 37-312-2 receiving line for the Gamecocks. He switched positions from wide receiver to tight end in 2021. Knox joins a tight end room that includes T.J. Hockenson, Josh Oliver, Johnny Mundt and Nick Muse in Minnesota.

Lideatrick Griffin 2005 WR
Raiders' Lideatrick Griffin: Signs with Silver and Black
16h agoGriffin signed with the Raiders as an undrafted free agent Saturday.
"Tulu" stands at 5-foot-10 and 181 pounds and ran a 4.43 forty at the combine after leading Mississippi State in receiving with a 50-658-4 line as a senior. His main selling point for the Raiders could be his returner skills after he showed some electricity with the ball in his hands during college.
-
Carter Bradley 2005 QB
Raiders' Carter Bradley: Finds work with Las Vegas
16h agoThe Raiders signed Bradley as an undrafted free agent Saturday.
Bradley has good size at 6-foot-3 and 213 pounds and spent the final two years of his college career at South Alabama following four years in Toledo's program. He threw for 5,996 yards at South Alabama, amassing 47 touchdowns and 19 interceptions. In Las Vegas, Bradley slides in at the bottom of the depth chart behind Gardner Minshew, Aidan O'Connell and Anthony Brown.

Daijun Edwards 2005 RB
Steelers' Daijun Edwards: Inks deal with Pittsburgh
16h agoThe Steelers signed Edwards as an undrafted free agent Saturday.
Edwards was just a one-year starter at Georgia and overall functioned as part of a backfield committee. He concluded his four-year collegiate career with a 391-2,082-24 rushing line. Edwards is strong in pass-protection and joins a Pittsburgh backfield that is led by Najee Harris, Jaylen Warren and newcomer Cordarrelle Patterson.

Taijuan Walker PHI SP
Phillies' Taijuan Walker: Activated for season debut
4m agoThe Phillies reinstated Walker (shoulder) from the 15-day injured list ahead of his start against the Padres on Sunday.
The veteran right-hander will make his season debut Sunday in San Diego after he missed the first month of the season with a shoulder issue. Walker threw 102 pitches over 6.1 innings during his final rehab appearance, so he likely won't face any significant limitations in his first MLB outing of 2024.

Chas McCormick HOU LF
Astros' Chas McCormick: Checks out of starting nine
5m agoMcCormick is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Rockies in Mexico City, Matt Kawahara of the Houston Chronicle reports.
McCormick will hit the bench for the series finale as a result of catcher Yainer Diaz getting a day off behind the plate and serving as Houston's designated hitter, resulting in usual DH Yordan Alvarez drawing the start in left field. The 29-year-old McCormick is still looking for his first home run of the season and has managed a .236 average with two stolen bases, eight RBI and six runs over 83 plate appearances.
-
Jake Meyers HOU CF
Astros' Jake Meyers: Sitting in third straight
8m agoMeyers is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Rockies in Mexico City, Matt Kawahara of the Houston Chronicle reports.
Meyers will take a seat for the third game in a row, with two absences coming against right-handed pitching and one coming versus a lefty. Mauricio Dubon has been swinging a hotter bat of late and will get another start at Meyers' expense, though it's unclear if Dubon has permanently leapfrogged Meyers on the depth chart in center field.
-
Jonathan Singleton HOU 1B
Astros' Jon Singleton: Hits bench in second straight
12m agoSingleton is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Rockies in Mexico City, Matt Kawahara of the Houston Chronicle reports.
The lefty-hitting Singleton seems to have moved into the strong side of a platoon at first base of late with the struggling Jose Abreu, though Abreu got the start in Saturday's 12-4 win against Rockies right-hander Paul Quantrill. After going 2-for-5 with two RBI in the win, Abreu will stick in the lineup Sunday against southpaw Austin Gomber. It's unclear if the Astros plan to bring Singleton back in the starting nine the next time they face off against a righty.

Oneil Cruz PIT SS
Pirates' Oneil Cruz: Returns to lineup Sunday
16m agoCruz (ankle) is starting at shortstop and batting third Sunday against the Giants, Andrew Destin of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.
Cruz was held out of the lineup Saturday after he tweaked his ankle in Friday's series opener, but he's back in the starting nine Sunday. The 25-year-old is without a home run since April 13 and has a .205/.286/.250 slash line and 38.8 percent strikeout rate during that 13-game stretch.
-
Amir Coffey LAC SF
Clippers' Amir Coffey: Will start sans Leonard
1m agoCoffey will start Sunday's Game 4 against Dallas, Ohm Youngmisuk of ESPN.com reports.
With Kawhi Leonard (knee) sidelined, Coffey drew a start in Game 1 and posted six points and three rebounds in 25 minutes. Across 13 regular-season starts, Coffey averaged 11.8 points, 3.7 rebounds and 1.6 assists in 28.8 minutes per game.

Knicks' Bojan Bogdanovic: Questionable to return
2m agoBogdanovic is questionable to return to Sunday's Game 4 against the 76ers due to a left foot contusion, Ian Begley of SportsNet New York reports.
Bogdanovic played just one minute and didn't record any counting stats before suffering the injury with 11:41 remaining in the second quarter. The sharpshooter has been playing through left wrist ligament damage during the opening-round series, but he hasn't made an impact, averaging only 8.0 points in 16.3 minutes over the first three games.
-
Tim Hardaway Jr. DAL SG
Mavericks' Tim Hardaway: Downgraded to out
9m agoHardaway (ankle) has been ruled out for Sunday's Game 4 against the Clippers, Eddie Sefko of the Mavericks' official site reports.
As expected, Hardaway has been downgraded from doubtful to out due to a right ankle sprain. In Hardaway's absence, Josh Green and Dante Exum are candidates for increased roles, while Jaden Hardy may crack the postseason rotation.
-
Kawhi Leonard LAC SF
Clippers' Kawhi Leonard: Out indefinitely
15m agoLeonard (knee) has been ruled out for Sunday's Game 4 against the Mavericks and will be sidelined indefinitely, Ohm Youngmisuk of ESPN.com reports.
Due to inflammation in his surgically repaired right knee, Leonard missed the Clippers' Game 1 win, which allowed Amir Coffey to draw a start. The superstar returned for Game 2 and posted 15 points (7-17 FG), seven rebounds and four steals in 35 minutes during the loss. He played only 25 minutes during Los Angeles Game 3 loss and finished with nine points (4-7 FG) and nine rebounds. Clippers president Lawrence Frank said shutting Leonard down was a move the organization made to ensure Leonard's future health, per Brad Townsend of The Dallas Morning News.

Bojan Bogdanovic NY SF
Knicks' Bojan Bogdanovic: Heads to locker room
21m agoBogdanovic suffered an apparent ankle injury with 11:41 remaining in the second quarter and limped to the locker room, Tim Bontemps of ESPN.com reports.
76ers Nicolas Batum dove after a loose ball and made contact with Bogdanovic's ankle, and the latter remained on the floor for a while before limping straight to the locker room. The sharpshooter has also been playing through left wrist ligament damage. Bogdanovic didn't accumulate any counting stats in his minute of playing time before suffering the injury.
-
Delon Wright MIA SG
Heat's Delon Wright: Likely available Monday
43m agoWright (personal) is probable for Monday's Game 4 against the Celtics.
Wright will likely be back to soak up some of Terry Rozier's (neck) missing minutes after missing Saturday's Game 3 loss due to personal reasons. In Game 1, Wright posted 17 points, three assists and two steals in 26 minutes.
-
Haydn Fleury TB D
Lightning's Haydn Fleury: Available to play
29m agoFleury (undisclosed) will be available to return to the lineup in Game 5 against Florida on Monday, according to Gabby Shirley of Bally Sports Florida.
Fleury sat out the final five games of the regular season and the first four games of the playoffs after colliding with a referee against Pittsburgh on April 6. Despite being an option for Monday's matchup, Fleury may serve as a healthy scratch following Tampa Bay's 6-3 win over the Panthers on Saturday.
-
Darren Raddysh TB D
Lightning's Darren Raddysh: Deemed day-to-day
30m agoRaddysh (undisclosed) is listed as day-to-day, per Gabby Shirley of Bally Sports Florida.
Raddysh didn't play Saturday in Game 4 after averaging 17:06 of ice time in the series' first three games. Emil Lilleberg and Max Crozier will likely fill out Tampa Bay's bottom pairing if Raddysh can't play Monday in Game 5.
-
Brenden Dillon WPG D
Jets' Brenden Dillon: Out Sunday
2h agoDillon (hand) won't play Sunday against the Avalanche, Mitchell Clinton of the Jets' official site reports.
While Dillon has been ruled out for Game 4, there's a chance he could return Tuesday when the Jets return home for Game 5. Still, it's a tough blow for Winnipeg -- the veteran blueliner had three assists through the first three games of the series. Logan Stanley is expected to work on the second pairing in Dillon's absence.

Vincent Iorio WAS D
Capitals' Vincent Iorio: Won't play Sunday
3h agoIorio (upper body) won't play Sunday in Game 4 against the Rangers, per Tom Gulitti of NHL.com.
Iorio stayed out late with Washington's expected scratches after participating in the morning skate in a non-contact capacity. He will miss his third straight outing due to an injury he sustained in the team's playoff opener last Sunday. However, the Capitals will get some reinforcements on the blue line because Rasmus Sandin (upper body) and Nick Jensen (upper body) are set to return to the lineup.
-
Nick Jensen WAS D
Capitals' Nick Jensen: Probable for Game 4
3h agoJensen (upper body) will be a game-time call, but he's trending towards playing Sunday against the Rangers, Tom Gulitti of NHL.com reports.
Jensen has yet to suit up in the series after missing Washington's final two regular-season games with an upper-body injury. Jensen's return would provide an important boost to the Caps' defensive corps, with Trevor van Riemsdyk (upper body) ruled out. The 33-year-old Jensen had a goal, 14 points and 123 blocked shots in 78 games this year.
-
Rasmus Sandin WAS D
Capitals' Rasmus Sandin: Ready to rock
3h agoSandin (upper body) will return to action Sunday in Game 4 against the Rangers, according to Tom Gulitti of NHL.com.

He registered three goals, 23 points, 79 shots on net, 106 blocked shots and 75 hits in 68 appearances during the 2023-24 campaign. Sandin will replace Trevor van Riemsdyk (upper body) in Sunday's must-win matchup.
