Bengals' Dax Hill: Operating as cornerback in 2024
5m agoHill is expected to be a part of the Bengals' cornerback room in 2024, Jay Morrison of ProFootballNetwork.com reports.
Hill spent his sophomore campaign operating as a starting safety for the Bengals, recording 110 tackles, including 1.5 sacks, while also intercepting two passes and deflecting 11 others over 17 contests. Head coach Zac Taylor said Sunday that Hill will "be in the cornerback room" this year, which could mean a position change is in store. The team signed former Raven Geno Stone this offseason and could replace Hill at safety in 2024.

Harrison Mevis: Heading to Carolina
13m agoMevis is slated to sign with the Panthers as an undrafted free agent Sunday, Joe Person of The Athletic reports.

38m agoWiley (thumb) is slated to sign with the Commanders as an undrafted free agent Sunday, Ben Standig of The Athletic reports.
Wiley wasn't selected during the 2024 NFL Draft but will have a chance to compete for a role with Washington during offseason activities. He sustained a thumb injury during the Senior Bowl in March, and it's unclear when he'll be back to full health.
-

1h agoJanke is slated to sign with the Texans as an unrestricted free agent Sunday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 reports.
Janke showed improvement over each of his four seasons at South Dakota State, and he tallied 57 receptions for 946 yards and 10 touchdowns while rushing twice for 11 yards and a touchdown in 2023. He'll attempt to make his mark during offseason activities with Houston.

Mekhi Becton NYJ OT
Mekhi Becton: Signing with Philadelphia
1h agoBecton and the Eagles have agreed on a one-year, $5.5 million contract, pending a physical Monday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
Becton appears to be set to join the Eagles after starting 16 games with the Jets in 2023. The offensive tackle has dealt with multiple significant lower-body injuries in his four-year NFL career, limiting his time on the field, and he'll look to carve out a consistent role with Philadelphia.
-

Carson Steele: Slated to sign with Kansas City
1h agoSteele is slated to sign with Kansas City as an undrafted free agent Sunday, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.

He'll now spend time with Kansas City during offseason activities.

Spencer Turnbull PHI SP
Phillies' Spencer Turnbull: Starting Tuesday
12m agoTurnbull will start Tuesday's game against the Angels, with Zack Wheeler getting moved back a day and Aaron Nola moved back to Friday, Alex Coffey of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports.
Manager Rob Thomson said that he wanted to give Wheeler and Nola the extra rest days, and that he's not inclined to go with a six-man rotation. However, this buys him another start to compare Turnbull against Taijuan Walker and allows us to use Turnbull for another week.
-
Marcus Stroman NYY SP
Yankees' Marcus Stroman: Struggles in Milwaukee
27m agoStroman pitched four innings, giving up four runs on six hits and five walks while striking out four in Sunday's 15-5 win over the Brewers. He did not factor into the decision.
Stroman was able to survive four scoreless frames to open Sunday's outing before the wheels fell off in the bottom of the fifth. He allowed all five batters he faced in the inning to reach base, including a three-run home run by Jake Bauers, which knotted the game up at 4-4. The 32-year-old has now surrendered five total homers over his last four starts after not giving one up in either of his first two outings in 2024. Stroman now owns a 3.69 ERA and 1.42 WHIP with 32 strikeouts over 31.2 innings in six starts this season and he's tentatively set to return to the mound Friday home for a matchup against the Tigers.

Tobias Myers MIL RP
Brewers' Tobias Myers: Ineffective versus New York
38m agoMyers pitched five innings, allowing four runs on five hits while striking out five batters in Sunday's 15-5 loss to the Yankees. He did not factor into the decision.
Myers surrendered a solo homer to Aaron Judge in the top of the first inning and then a three-run shot by Anthony Volpe in the fifth frame accounted for the final tallies on his line. Through two major-league starts this season, the 25-year-old has given up five runs, all of which on three long-balls over 10 innings. If he draws another turn in Milwaukee's rotation, Myers is tentatively lined up to be back on the mound Saturday on the road versus the Cubs.

Twins' Christian Vazquez: Three hits in win
1h agoVazquez went 3-for-4 with one run scored and one steal in Sunday's win over the Angels.

Rays' Isaac Paredes: Launches homer in loss
1h agoParedes went 2-for-4 with a solo home run and two runs scored in Sunday's 4-2 loss to the White Sox.
Paredes took Erick Fedde deep for a solo shot in the top of the fourth, giving Tampa Bay an early 1-0 lead. He later singled and came around to score in the top of the ninth on a double from Harold Ramirez. The homer was the 25-year-old's seventh of the season and second in his last five games. Since April 14, Paredes has batted .314 with three home runs, seven RBI and seven runs scored over 51 at-bats in 13 games.

Rockies' Austin Gomber: Coughs up three home runs
1h agoGomber (0-2) yielded four runs on six hits over seven innings Sunday, striking out two and taking a loss against the Astros.

On the bright side, he retired 11 of the last 12 batters he faced despite forcing only four swinging strikes on 79 pitches. Gomber will carry a 4.50 ERA into his next outing, which is lined up to be in Pittsburgh next weekend.

32m agoDavis (wrist) is probable for Monday's Game 5 against the Nuggets, Khobi Price of The Orange County Register reports.

34m agoJames (ankle) is probable for Monday's Game 5 against the Nuggets, Khobi Price of The Orange County Register reports.

-

1h agoPortis has been ejected from Sunday's contest against the Pacers, Kelly Iko of The Athletic reports.

Portis finishes the contest with four points (2-4 FG) and three rebounds in six minutes of action. The already shorthanded Bucks will likely lean on Andre Jackson, Pat Connaughton and Jae Crowder to fill Portis' role.
-

Avalanche's Alexandar Georgiev: Third straight win
8m agoGeorgiev allowed one goal on 27 shots in Sunday's 5-1 home win over the Jets.
Georgiev allowed a first period goal on the fifth shot of the game but then kicked aside the next 22 shots to keep the Jets off the scoreboard. After a poor performance in game one, Georgiev has only allowed five goals on 77 shots for a .935 save percentage in the last three games. The Avalanche will look to move on to round two when they visit Winnipeg on Tuesday.
-
Philip Broberg EDM D

10m agoBroberg was promoted from AHL Bakersfield on Sunday.
Broberg will likely serve as a depth option for the Oilers after AHL Bakersfield was knocked out of the postseason. He had two assists in 12 NHL games this season.

Jets' Connor Hellebuyck: Three consecutive losses
34m agoHellebuyck gave up four goals on 30 shots in Sunday's 5-1 loss to the Avalanche. The fifth goal was an empty-netter.
Hellebuyck allowed all four goals in the first two periods, including two on the power play. He has now allowed 19 goals on 131 shots and has not topped a .900 save percentage in any game in the first round. In order for the Jets to make a comeback in the series, they need Hellebuyck to get back to his Vezina-calibre ways for the remaining games. Winnipeg will host Colorado on Tuesday.
-
