Gathings inked a reserve/future deal with Kansas City back in February after being part of the team's practice squad for nearly two months to close out the 2023 campaign. He's yet to play in a regular-season game.

6h agoThompson-Robinson (hip) will undergo an MRI on Monday and is expected to participate in minicamp next week, Mary Kay Cabot of Cleveland.com reports.
DTR suffered a hip subluxation against the Texans on Christmas Eve and was ruled out for the remainder of the Browns' season. His most recent MRI in March revealed progress in his rehab, and Thompson-Robinson is hoping the latest one this upcoming week will allow him to get the green light to do some on-field work with the team's rookies and fellow younger players. The Browns signed veteran QBs Jameis Winston and Tyler Huntley in the offseason, so DTR is facing stiff competition for backup duties behind Deshaun Watson.

7h agoAli (biceps) is participating in some of the Ravens' minicamp drills and is expected to be fully recovered ahead of training camp, Jeff Zrebiec of The Athletic reports.
The rookie fifth-round pick ruptured his biceps tendon at the Senior Bowl back in late January, but the Marshall product is expected to be fully recovered ahead of Baltimore's training camp in August. Ali is poised to compete for a pivotal role in the backfield, as J.K. Dobbins (Achilles) and Gus Edwards are now both with the Chargers and Keaton Mitchell (knee) is still recovering after tearing his ACL in December.

Ravens' Rasheen Ali: Hopeful for training camp
9h agoHead coach John Harbaugh indicated Saturday that he expects Ali (biceps) to be good to go in time for training camp, Jeff Zrebiec of The Athletic reports.
Ali ruptured his biceps tendon at the Senior Bowl, but he was still selected by the Ravens in the fifth round of this year's draft. The intriguing prospect had multiple 1,000-yard seasons with Marshall, but he also missed nearly the entire 2022 campaign due to an MCL injury. When healthy, he projects to compete for a role providing depth in Baltimore's backfield behind Derrick Henry.

1d agoSeattle signed Torrence to a contract Friday, Howard Balzer of GoPHNX.com reports.
Torrence wasn't selected in the NFL Draft in late April but will get a shot to make his case for a roster or practice-squad spot after signing with the Seahawks. The 6-foot-3 defensive back played the final two seasons of college with Arizona State and totaled 37 tackles (including 2.0 sacks) along with an interception in 2023. Torrence allowed just 20 receptions in coverage last season, the lowest total among Pac-12 cornerbacks with at least 300 snaps played in coverage during the regular season.

Toro extended Oakland's lead to 9-0 in the third inning with his timely single, pushing his RBI total to 13 to draw him into a tie with JJ Bleday for third place on the Athletics. The 27-year-old has been a steady offensive presence for the surprising A's, and he's now posted four consecutive two-hit tallies as part of an eight-game hitting streak overall.

9m agoSuarez (6-0) collected the win Saturday versus the Giants, permitting three runs on seven hits and a walk over six innings. He struck out six.
There was a rain delay before the game and more inclement weather during the contest, but Suarez seemed undaunted as he became the first six-game winner in baseball (Tyler Glasnow joined him later Saturday). It speaks as to how well Suarez has pitched this season that this was easily his worst start since his first outing of the season when he allowed three runs in five innings. The three runs the left-hander gave up Saturday matched his total from his previous five starts. With a matchup versus the Marlins looming next week, Suarez has a good chance to keep rolling.

14m agoDavis went 2-for-4 with a run in a win over the Marlins on Saturday.
Davis returned from a stint on the injured list in the series opener Friday and went 0-for-3, but he authored one of seven multi-hit efforts for the Athletics in Saturday's 20-4 win. The veteran hadn't recorded more than one knock in a game since April 3, and Saturday's production snapped an 0-for-13 skid.

Ben Lively CLE SPGuardians' Ben Lively: Continues to impress
14m agoLively (1-1) earned the win over the Angels on Saturday, allowing one run on four hits and three walks while striking out five batters over six innings.
Lively got through four scoreless frames before the Angels posted a run in the fifth, but that was all the scoring the right-hander ended up allowing. The soon-to-be 32-year-old has yielded exactly one run in each of his past three starts, and he's given up a total of five earned runs across 21.2 innings on the season for a sterling ERA of 2.08. It's a bit difficult to imagine Lively continuing this level of success given that he entered the campaign with a 5.05 ERA across 208.2 career innings as a major-leaguer, and his Statcast numbers show that despite his strong start to the season, he has given up plenty of hard contact while rarely getting batters to chase. However, it's also worth noting that his strikeout numbers have tangibly risen -- Lively had a career 6.9 K/9 prior to this season but is at a 10.0 K/9 through four starts this year.

Stephens had posted a 3.86 ERA and 13:2 K:BB over 9.1 innings with Gwinnett this season. He pitched in five games for Atlanta last season, yielding four runs over 12 frames. Stephens will operate in low-leverage situations.

Shea Langeliers OAK CAthletics' Shea Langeliers: Homers in lopsided victory
18m agoLangeliers went 3-for-5 with a triple, a three-run home run and two additional runs scored in a win over the Marlins on Saturday.
Langeliers' 420-foot shot to left center with Kyle McCann and Lawrence Butler aboard in the eighth inning certainly wasn't necessary for the red-hot Athletics' victory, but it still had a bit of extra significance since it pushed Oakland's tally to 20 runs on the afternoon. Langeliers needed a prolific effort at the plate like Saturday's in the worst way, considering he'd come into the day with a .165/.222/.381 slash line. The three-bagger was also Langeliers' first of the season after he legged out four triples a year ago, and despite his significant struggles with batting average and on-base percentage, he's now knocked 11 of his 19 hits on the season for extra bases.

1h agoMurray racked up 17 points (6-14 FG, 2-4 3Pt, 3-3 FT), one rebound and four assists over 34 minutes during Saturday's 106-99 loss to Minnesota in Game 1 of the Western Conference Semifinals.
Murray wasn't as strong as we've seen him in the past in Saturday's contest, but he still managed to end three points shy of the 20-point mark while ending as one of three Nuggets with 15 or more points in a losing effort. It will be key to see how Murray, who has been dealing with calf discomfort of late, is able to perform throughout the semifinals and to monitor whether his injury limits him to any extent against a talented Timberwolves squad.

1h agoPorter finished with 20 points (6-13 FG, 4-7 3Pt, 4-6 FT), six rebounds, one assist, one block and three steals across 40 minutes during Saturday's 106-99 loss to Minnesota in Game 1 of the Western Conference Semifinals.
Porter led all players in Saturday's contest in threes made while ending as one of two Nuggets with 20 or more points and adding a half-dozen rebounds in a losing effort. Porter has surpassed the 20-point mark in five straight playoff contests, connecting on four or more threes in three straight games.

1h agoJokic notched 32 points (11-25 FG, 2-9 3Pt, 8-8 FT), eight rebounds, nine assists and three steals in 41 minutes during Saturday's 106-99 loss to Minnesota in Game 1 of the Western Conference Semifinals.
Jokic led all Nuggets players in scoring, rebounds and assists to go along with a team-high-tying trio of steals in a well-rounded performance that nearly resulted in a triple-double in Saturday's Game 1. Jokic struggled a bit from the field but still finished north of 30 points for the third time this postseason and concluded one assist and two boards shy of a triple-double. Jokic has a tough matchup against Minnesota's big men, so it will be key to keep an eye on how he is able to perform against a strong defense in the semifinals.

1h agoReid ended Saturday's 106-99 win over Denver in Game 1 of the Western Conference Semifinals with 16 points (7-11 FG, 2-4 3Pt, 0-1 FT), four rebounds, three assists and one steal in 23 minutes.
Reid struggled over the first three quarters of Saturday's contest but showed up in a big way in the fourth frame, scoring 14 of his 16 points and giving the Timberwolves a boost off the bench in a winning effort. The Sixth Man of the Year ended as one of four Minnesota players with 10 or more points in the road victory, notching his third game of the postseason in double figures in scoring.

Conley led all players in Saturday's Game 1 in assists while ending as one of four Timberwolves in double figures in scoring and as the lone player with a double-double in a winning effort. Conley, who connected on a team-high-tying trio of threes, reached double digits in assists for the first time this postseason, and he has recorded at least 10 points and seven dimes in three playoff outings.

Edwards did it all to lead Minnesota to a Game 1 win on the road, posting a new playoff career high in scoring while leading all players in Saturday's contest in points scored in an offensive showcase. Edwards, who scored 16 points in the first quarter alone and capped the game with 12 points in the final quarter, became the first Timberwolves player to post two consecutive 40-point playoff games. If Edwards can continue to pace Minnesota the way he did in Game 1, the Timberwolves will be in a good position to steal another game on the road in Game 2.

Auston Matthews TOR CMaple Leafs' Auston Matthews: Provides helper in loss
2m agoMatthews recorded an assist, three shots on goal and six hits in Saturday's 2-1 overtime loss to the Bruins in Game 7.
Matthews missed Games 5 and 6 with an undisclosed injury, and he was able to play just 17:35 in Game 7. The 26-year-old contributed a helper on William Nylander's tally in the third period, but the Maple Leafs held that lead for just 1:21. Matthews ended the playoffs with four points, 20 shots on net, 25 hits and a plus-2 rating over five appearances. His four-year, $53 million contract extension, which he signed in August of 2023, kicks in next season.

William Nylander TOR RWMaple Leafs' William Nylander: Nets lone goal in Game 7 loss
6m agoNylander scored a goal on five shots, blocked three shots and added two hits in Saturday's 2-1 overtime loss to the Bruins in Game 7.
Nylander missed three games to begin the series due to a migraine issue, but he showed up late in the first round with three goals over the final two contests. The winger added 18 shots on net, six hits and five blocked shots. While another first-round exit is unfortunate for Toronto, Nylander's future with the team was confirmed when he signed an eight-year contract extension in January. The 28-year-old produced his second straight 40-goal season and finished with a career-high 98 points in 82 regular-season contests, so he should be a solid choice for fantasy managers in the early rounds of drafts in the fall.

Ilya Samsonov TOR GMaple Leafs' Ilya Samsonov: Drops Game 7 in overtime
9m agoSamsonov allowed two goals on 31 shots in Saturday's 2-1 overtime loss to the Bruins in Game 7.
Samsonov put in a strong showing after Joseph Woll (undisclosed) was deemed unavailable for the winner-take-all contest. Samsonov was able to get the game to overtime, but a bank pass from Hampus Lindholm found David Pastrnak in the space between Samsonov and defenseman Morgan Rielly, and Pastrnak was able to convert the decisive goal. Samsonov won just one of his five playoff appearances, allowing 14 goals on 134 shots during the first round. The 27-year-old will be an unrestricted free agent this summer, and the emergence of Woll makes it seem unlikely Samsonov will be coming back to the Maple Leafs after a mediocre campaign.

Brandon Carlo BOS DBruins' Brandon Carlo: Draws assist in Game 7 win
15m agoCarlo notched an assist, three hits and three blocked shots in Saturday's 2-1 overtime win over the Maple Leafs in Game 7.
Carlo was credited with the secondary helper on David Pastrnak's game-winning goal at 1:54 of overtime. The 27-year-old Carlo had a goal, an assist, 11 shots on net, 16 hits, 16 blocked shots and a plus-2 rating over seven appearances in the first round. He's not known for his offense, but Carlo's spot in the lineup as a shutdown defenseman is secure.

17m agoBrazeau notched an assist, three shots on goal and seven hits in Saturday's 2-1 overtime win over the Maple Leafs in Game 7.
Brazeau picked up his first playoff point with a helper on Hampus Lindholm's third-period tally. The 26-year-old Brazeau has held down a bottom-six role over the last three contests, adding 16 hits and four shots on net. He'll likely stay in the lineup at least until Danton Heinen (undisclosed) is available to play again.

20m agoVan Riemsdyk logged an assist, three shots on goal and four hits in Saturday's 2-1 overtime win over the Maple Leafs in Game 7.
Van Riemsdyk set up Hampus Lindholm's game-tying tally at 10:22 of the third period. The helper was van Riemsdyk's third point in five appearances in the first round. The winger added eight shots on net, seven hits and a plus-2 rating. He continues to play on the third line and second power-play unit, and it appears his offense has stabilized following a brutal drought at the end of the regular season.
