2m agoThe Jaguars selected Jefferson in the fourth round of the 2024 NFL Draft, 116th overall.
Jefferson (6-foot-3, 313 pounds) was a productive one-year starter at West Virginia in 2022 before transferring to LSU in 2023, where he played behind Mekhi Wingo and Maason Smith. Jefferson still made a mark as a rotational lineman, finishing the year with LSU's second-most tackles for loss (seven). Although he has a dense build and a bit of burst (31-inch vertical), there's not much evidence that he'll be more than a rotational tackle in the NFL.

2m agoThe Colts selected Bortolini in the fourth round of the 2024 NFL Draft, 117th overall.
With stalwart center Ryan Kelley entering the final year of his four-year extension signed back in 2021, Bortolini appears to be the heir apparent to take over the position next year. Wisconsin has produced a long lineage of productive offensive lineman in recent years with Joe Tippmann, Tyler Biadasz and Travis Frederick all warranting high picks at the position, and Bortolini should continue that trend in 2025.

5m agoThe Bengals selected All in the fourth round of the 2024 NFL Draft, 115th overall.
Despite tearing his ACL mid-way through his senior season, All still became the sixth tight end off the board in this year's draft. All actually led Iowa in receiving yards (299) and touchdowns (3) in 2023 despite missing half the year, but that may be more of an indictment on the Iowa offense. The injury prevented All from testing at the combine or his pro day and his lengthy injury history, including spinal surgery in 2022, is a concern. However, All's numbers when healthy were always impressive dating back to his time at Michigan. Cincinnati has an interesting tight end room that lacks star power, so if he is 100 percent at some point in 2024, All could get onto the field.

7m agoThe Jaguars selected Foster in the fourth round of the 2024 NFL Draft, 114th overall.
Foster was a three-year starter at left tackle for Missouri in college after being late to pick up football. Therefore, despite his plentiful experience throughout his collegiate career, he'll likely require more development before making much of an impact for the Jaguars. If he can continue to improve in the nuanced areas of the game, he has solid size (6-foot-5, 313 pounds) to rely on.

Devontez Walker 2005 WRRavens' Devontez Walker: Lands in Baltimore
11m agoThe Ravens selected Walker in the fourth round of the 2024 NFL Draft, 113th overall.
Walker led Kent State in receiving yards and touchdowns back in 2022 before transferring to North Carolina last season, but a delay in eligibility saw the soon-to-be 23-year-old play in only eight games with the Tar Heels. Walker still managed to find a way to lead the team in touchdown receptions and by all accounts seems to possess both the level-headed nature and frame (6-foot-2, 193 pounds) to be a productive receiver at the NFL level. The talented wideout didn't necessarily display the type of game speed that saw Walker register a 4.36 40-yard dash at the NFL Combine, but his ability to threaten defenses in the second level will add another element to a Baltimore receiving corps that's brimming with young talent.

14m agoThe Raiders selected Richardson in the fourth round of the 2024 NFL Draft, 112th overall.
Richardson was a two-year starter on a solid Mississippi State pass defense but appears more toolsy than skilled at the moment. Richardson has almost blue chip athletic traits at 6-foot-2, 188 pounds, boasting exceptional reach (32 and 3/8-inch arms) to go with blistering athletic testing (4.34-second 40-yard dash, 128-inch broad jump), but he gave up more catches than someone as athletic as him should at the college level. Indeed, Richardson's high tackle totals (164 in two years) are sooner a concern than an applicable strength, but if coach Antonio Pierce and company can coach up Richardson, then the loud tools could show up more in the form of more incompletions and fewer tackles.

Camilo Doval SF RPGiants' Camilo Doval: Records second win
4m agoDoval (2-0) allowed two hits and a walk while striking out one over a scoreless inning to earn the win Friday over the Pirates.
Doval walked the tightrope in the top of the ninth inning Friday, loading the bases with one out before inducing a double play to escape the jam while keeping the game scoreless. Patrick Bailey then delivered a walk-off three-run home run to give Doval and the Giants the win. Doval has kept runs off the board in seven of his nine appearances this season, earning four saves with a 3.12 ERA, 1.27 WHIP and 13:5 K:BB over 8.2 innings.

7m agoArias went 1-for-4 with a stolen base in Friday's 6-2 loss to Atlanta.
Arias' last four starts have been evenly split between second and third, providing opportunities for Jose Ramirez and Andres Gimenez to get rest. Arias is off to a solid start this season in a utility role, slashing .278/.304/.426 with three steals, one home run, eight RBI and seven runs scored across 56 plate appearances. He's already played at six different positions this season, so he should be able to be in the lineup semi-regularly despite lacking a single obvious path to playing time.

Joey Gallo WAS 1BNationals' Joey Gallo: Placed on injured list
8m agoThe Nationals placed Gallo on the 10-day injured list Saturday with a sprained AC joint in his left shoulder, Bobby Blanco of MASNSports.com reports.
Gallo is slashing .122/.286/.311 across 91 plate appearances so far this season, but his shoulder injury will cause him to miss at least the next 10 days. Alex Call was recalled from Triple-A Rochester to replace Gallo as outfield depth.

Willson Contreras STL CCardinals' Willson Contreras: Pops homer Friday
11m agoContreras went 1-for-3 with a solo home run and a walk in Friday's 4-2 win over the Mets.
The Cardinals mustered just five hits, but Contreras and Alec Burleson provided a pair of homers to make it work. Contreras continues to play through a lingering hand injury, and while it's limited his ability to catch, he's been fine at the plate. Since the injury occurred April 3, he's gone 17-for-52 (.327) with two homers, six doubles and five RBI. For the season, he's slashing .296/.425/.563 with four homers, nine RBI, 12 runs scored, seven doubles and a stolen base over 21 contests. Contreras will continue to split time between catcher and designated hitter.

12m agoAfter throwing a 50-pitch live batting practice session Saturday, Pivetta (elbow) noted that he was able to throw all his pitches and was happy with his outing, Jen McCaffrey of The Athletic reports.
Pivetta continues to make progress in his rehab from a right elbow flexor strain that landed him on the 15-day IL on April 9. Following his latest throwing session, Pivetta will meet with team doctors and the front office to figure out his next steps, which could include a rehab assignment in the coming week. Before landing on the IL, Pivetta went 1-1 over two starts, allowing one run on eight hits while striking out 13 over 11 frames.

Alex Call WAS CFNationals' Alex Call: Recalled from Triple-A
14m agoThe Nationals recalled Call from Triple-A Rochester on Saturday.
Call failed to make the big-league roster out of spring training, but he will rejoin the Nationals after slashing .216/.306/.486 with six homers and 17 RBI across 85 Triple-A plate appearances. He'll provide additional depth to Washington's outfield unit while Joey Gallo (shoulder) is on the injured list.

Damian Lillard MIL PGBucks' Damian Lillard: Game 4 in doubt
14m agoLillard suffered a strained Achilles in Friday's loss to the Pacers and there is serious doubt over his availability for Game 4 on Sunday, Shams Charania of The Athletic reports.
Lillard was able to return to Game 3 after suffering the injury and finished the contest with 28 points (6-20 FG, 4-12 3Pt, 12-12 FT), eight assists, three steals and one rebound over 45 minutes. Final confirmation on his status Sunday will presumably come closer to game time. AJ Green, Andre Jackson and Malik Beasley would all be candidates to see increased minutes alongside Patrick Beverley in the backcourt should Lillard indeed need to sit out.

1h agoRobinson (ankle) was a non-participant at Saturday's practice, Ian Begley of SportsNet New York reports.
Robinson was seen wearing a walking boot on his sprained left ankle following an early exit in Thursday's 125-114 loss to the 76ers. He had accumulated two points (1-3 FG, 0-2 FT) and seven rebounds across 12 minutes before leaving. His absence from Saturdays' practice is not a good sign for his status for Sunday's Game 4, but the team has not ruled the big man out. If he ultimately does not get the green light, Precious Achiuwa figures to serve as the primary backup behind Isaiah Hartenstein.

Booker finished just two assists away from recording a double-double in Game 3, and the star guard will need to be at his best Sunday if the Suns want to avoid getting swept in the first round. Booker's scoring numbers have increased with each passing game in the series, though this was the first time he surpassed the 20-point plateau.

Beal led the Suns in scoring Friday, but as has been the case throughout the series, Phoenix simply hasn't been able to hang on with the Timberwolves throughout an entire game, which explains the 0-3 deficit the Suns are currently in right now. This was the first team Beal surpassed the 15-point mark in the series, and the veteran guard will need to keep the momentum going for Game 4 on Sunday if the Suns want to avoid getting swept in the first round.

Durant bounced back from a subpar showing in Game 2, at least for his lofty standards, and he had a strong showing in Game 3, but once again, his contributions were not enough to lift the Suns to victory as Phoenix fell into an 0-3 deficit. Durant will need to be at his best if the Suns want to avoid the sweep in Game 4 on Sunday. He's averaging 24.7 points, 5.7 rebounds and 2.7 assists per game in the series.

2h agoGobert logged 19 points (6-8 FG, 7-8 FT), 14 rebounds, one assist and one steal over 38 minutes during Friday's 126-109 victory over the Suns in Game 3 of the first round of the Western Conference playoffs.
Gobert's scoring numbers have increased with each passing game in the series, though the increased offensive responsibility in Game 3 was directly related to Karl-Anthony Towns being limited with foul trouble. Gobert also has two double-doubles in three games during he current series, averaging 17.0 points and 13.0 boards per contest.

14m agoMartin (lower body) won't play Saturday in Game 4 versus Carolina, according to Stefen Rosner of NHL.com.
Martin played through the injury in Thursday's 3-2 loss to the Hurricanes, logging just 8:16 of ice time. He has 16 PIM, seven hits and three blocked shots over three outings this postseason. Martin will be replaced in Saturday's lineup by Ruslan Iskhakov.

42m agoSwayman was the first goalie off the ice at the morning skate, Renaud Lavoie of TVA Sports reports, indicating he will guard the road net Saturday versus Toronto in Game 4.
Swayman is coming off a 28-save performance in Wednesday's 4-2 victory over the Maple Leafs in Game 3. He has stopped 63 of 66 shots en route to a 2-0 record in the opening round of the postseason. If the Bruins emerge victorious Saturday, the team can take a 3-1 stranglehold in the best-of-seven series.

Van Riemsdyk took a high hit from Rangers winger Matt Rempe during the first period of Friday's 3-1 loss and was not on the ice for Saturday's skate. The 32-year-old could be replaced by Nick Jensen (upper body) or Rasmus Sandin (upper body) should they be cleared to return, but both remain game-time decisions.

Andersen is a perfect 3-0 versus the Islanders in the opening round. He has allowed six goals on 77 shots (.922 save percentage) as the Hurricanes have shut down the Islanders in the series. Andersen was outstanding in the regular season, going 13-2-0 with a 1.84 GAA and a .932 save percentage in 16 appearances.

Bobby McMann TOR CMaple Leafs' Bobby McMann: Nearing return to ice
2h agoPer Terry Koshan of The Toronto Sun, McMann (lower body) is getting closer to returning to practice, according to coach Sheldon Keefe.
McMann missed the last two games of the regular season, and will miss his fourth straight playoff game Saturday, after he was injured Apr. 13 versus Detroit. McMann was a huge surprise this season, as he had 15 goals, nine assists and 117 hits in 56 regular-season games. He is still a possible option to return to action for the latter part of the opening round versus the Bruins.
